I made my first flight with the DJI mini 2 yesterday with the aid of your videos it was awesome thank you so much for the hard work that you put into these videos!
This is the 4th or 5th video I've watched related to Mini 2. I still haven't learned the difference between the Mini 2 and Mini 2 SE, my craft. Not to diminish others, I needed their initial inputs to make the first flight. You have filled in a few of holes. Kudos/Thanks.
*Tip:* in winter, always put any batteries in a pouch and keep them near your body if you can on the inside of your coat. That way the batteries are warm and they wont be flat. *Tip2*: dont store your DJI batteries in the charging caddy, turn them around or take them out. They will automatically drop to 70% charge over time to protect themselves. Keep them like that, but fully charge batteries on the day you intend to fly. All the best ~ Great video!!!
Great video. One thing I discovered is DJI sells what I call "training wheels". This is a set of propellor guards. Where I live in western Washington the big open area isn't available. Many 150 foot tall trees, kind of like southeast Alaska. Unfortunately I hit one of them and broke the entire propellor assembly off. Fortunately for me, when my wife bought me the drone she also bought me an insurance policy. After the drone was repaired I installed the propellor guards sold by DJI. They have been useful(I am on my second set). When they are installed your altitude is restricted to about 90 feet and distance from start point is around 165 feet. Perfect for a beginner. Another thing I have noticed involves learning to use the video display on the phone. For an "old" guy like me who has never played video games this has been tough. I practice flying entire battery segments, about 30 minutes, using the video display only. I am up to making fairly decent coordinated turns.
I bought the mini 2 for my son and me. I m 5 away from Tampa international Airport so I can't fly home, after Xmas day we will have it outdoor some where away. I can't wait
Thank you, get mine in a couple of days and thought I was the only one who felt anxious about getting started, I feel like I'll have the same feelings about trusting the drone 😅
Boy Jake, I wish I knew what you forgot about drone photography, just got into DJI drones flew Yuneec's and Eflite for years really like the DJIs have the Mavic min2 and the Mavic air 2 a lot to learn, flying them is easy its all the camera settings in the past I flew auto in everything, I also fly Rc airplanes and helicopters a lot 5 to 6 days a week here AZ 76 here today and were cold LOL, as always great video later
Thank you Jake for that video. I will be watching this again. Love the audio and video quality and your style of presentation. Best video I’ve seen so far. Been flying Rc planes for years off water here in Maine and now the mini 2. Your location there in Alaska is beautiful, just like Maine. Thank you again. Alan

Great video. The other week I wanted to try and get back into photography and start venturing into the world of videography. So I grabbed my GoPro, dusted off my old DSLR (Canon Digital Rebel XTi) and then I came across your channel. Now I have a drone... and i'm blaming you haha. I decided to go with the DJI Mavic Air 2 instead of the DJI Mini 2 in order to get the Active Tracking and better video quality but it was a very difficult decision. Good job with the channel! I've enjoyed watching your other videos that cover photography, drones and the adventures you go on with them. Even though I hate the cold, I'm very jealous of all the wide open areas you are able to explore up in Alaska. Alaska has jumped up a few spots on my list of places to visit! Way too many trees for me to crash into down here in Pennsylvania.
Great video and packed with information for newbies like me! Just got this drone and to say I’m scared when it is out of my line of sight is an understatement…… hopefully this feeling passes with each flight.
Love the video...most helpful.. It would be nice if you could update the video for the 1.9 version of the DJI Fly app as the the advanced gimbal settings have been renamed to gain and expo tuning and the setting options are different.
Excellent video. Really appreciate this as someone who got a mini 2 and it is my first drone. Really looking forward to getting familiar with it thanks again, great work
Great guide, thank you! I want to have the drone with me on motorcycle trips but if I pull over and wants to do a few quick shots, what is the setup time from when I get it out of the bag until I´m in the air? Do I have to calibrate every time?
Hi Jake. Great introductory video on the Mini2. Do you have any suggestions about how to retrofit the Mini2 to comply with the mandatory FAA “remote ID” requirement as of next month? I don’t think there is any hardware remote ID capability of this drone by itself. Thank!
Hello from Blacks Harbour, NB, Can. Great video Jake! Just getting back into drone flying after a 2-3 year break. Starting off this time with the Mini 2 and I was very happy to see where you prefer your settings for various types of shooting; a great place to start tweaking for personal taste. When shooting in colder temps, should you avoid bringing the drone directly in to room temperature settings? I usually bring my camera gear into the house in a large Zip-Loc bag to prevent condensation build up until things warm up. Anyway, great tutorial, thanks for the effort to help everyone get the most out of their drones .... I'm your newest subscriber!
Awesome tutorial.... I own an ol school Yuneec 500 drone... it was rad 8 years ago but the latency was lame... how's the delay on the mini 2?.. thanks from Colorado
Great video! I am about to head for my tutorial flight after setting up with your help. My settings under control did not have an advance gimbal option. Any idea why?
If you take off before Your Home Point Has Been Updated, will it pick a point that was along the line of travel, or would go to the last place you launched from, like say miles away on last flight, or is it smart and just won’t want to fly away until the YHPHBU in situ. Good job on intro to Mini 2
Hi buddy ,Great video as always. What's the main difference between 4/3 and 6/9 photo ratio. I am currently using 6/9 as I use them on my TH-cam videos but I heard 4/3 has better quality. If I shoot photos in that mode won't the photos layout look odd when I incorporate it into my TH-cam videos? Hope that makes sense and is not a silly question 😉
They don't have better quality they just use the full sensor so you can crop them a bit more in post if you wish. the only difference is 16:9 cuts off the top and bottom of the sensor where 4:3 uses the entire sensor and yes if you shoot them mostly for your videos then stay with 16:9

Hello Jake, Carl Buehler Zephyrhills Florida. I am using a older iPhone 6 plus 128 gigs. When I am flying my mini 2, when I select on the battery symbol it gives me battery time left and time to force landing but it does not display return to home information and I do not get the RTH warning when the battery gets low. I am thinking my phone just does not have enough processing power. Your thoughts?
@@JakeSloan This was only my second flight but I have noticed both flights not displaying the RTH warning and information noted in the battery drop down menu. Without this functionality in this great little drone, it takes away the biggest fail safe that this drone has to offer. My friend has an iPhone 8 Plus, I thought I would install the Fly app on his phone and log into my account and connect to the aircraft and see if I gain some more options. I also tried to do that file transfer at the end of the flight where you press the rear button until it turns blue but join Wi-Fi information does not appear to come up to start the download.
