- After our 2008 Dodge Viper sat idle in a dusty body shop for the past 9 months I figured it was the perfect time for a fresh Optima redtop battery, K&N air filter, and a bonus addition of a Doug Shelby Engineering air intake heat shield. This will help give the peace of mind knowing our newly finished gen 5 bumper converted Viper will be running in tip top shape.

I got some catching up to do on the videos!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Ayyy i see that Hunt and Co hat 🧢 I watch TJ as well.
@@6.2_zeus for sure! I try and support as many of those guys as possible. TJ, Dustin, throtl, LZ, etc 😎all super entertaining!
If you think that was a little difficult I have a Gen 5 and install the same DSE on my viper and with a clam shell hood it’s harder.
Yeah the clam shell makes it looks more exotic but what a pain to work on anything! +1 for the gen 3 & 4 haha
Whats a trickle charger and how is it installed? thanks
Thanks for watching! I’ve had good luck with the CTEK brand chargers. It comes with the connecting cords to run from the positive side of the battery and a negative ground. That portion stays on the car and it has a quick disconnect for easy plug in when the car sits.
If don't drive your Viper much install a ground kill switch in the trunk to save the battery.
or just buy a trickle charger and don’t do what he said.
@@jayk7781Ground kill switch simpler and great anti theft.
@@jayk7781 yup car stays on a trickle charger. 😎
Lose the Red top, they are nothing but trouble. Buy OEM instead.
😳 really?! They used to be the gold standard. What issues are typical with them??
@@ChaosCarClub I personally experienced offgassing with a red top and other Viper owners have reported short lifespan of three years before needing to replace them.
@@jayk7781 oh wow. I will keep an eye on this one and see how much life I can get from it. Then I’ll know for next go around to aim for a factory battery. Thanks for the info!!
Yep Optima in my car took a shit after a year
@@ChaosCarClub my OEM battery lasted six years before finally going bad. I consider that a win.
