Hi! Theories can be applied to many different conditions- the trick is finding which one makes the most sense for your specific purposes. If you have a supervisor, this is something worth sound boarding with them about
When choosing a model for research, I would check where else it has been used and what kind of data it was able to produce -- all models work for something, but it depends on what exactly you are looking at. I would consult with your supervisor to find what is going to work best for your exact study. Get a good handle of the model and know its strengths and limitations first. Best of luck to you!
