  • John Love is the Rhodesian racing driver who came so close to winning a Formula 1 race. The exciting career of the African privateer is definitely underrated. I still watch F1 because of him. I remember the Rhodesian GP and the Bulawayo 100 at Khumalo Race Track as a 7 year old in 1967...and then onward. A life time ago. I'm guessing you were there too.

    thank you. i am a zimbabwean living John Love home town. i watched him in bulawayo in1969 and around 70s when he drove the March 701 against Dave Charlton and Ian. He was a great driver. Unfortunately not much was recorded about these guys.

    John Love was my favourite, however, Dave Charlton was South African F1 champion year after year

      There are a lot of early South African and Rhodesian drivers no one really seems to know about and sadly not many since.

      Ironic that John Love's car was one of the first to feature sponsors that eventually turned it into a safe, modern, money sport.

    When are you going to do a video on the best 10 Americans in F1?

    • @FrontrunnerMotorsport
      @FrontrunnerMotorsport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometime this year, it's a trickier list to compile because a lot of the Americans are from the Indy 500 era of Formula 1 and of course some are technically F1 race winners but it's hard to know whether or not to include them as only a couple raced outside of the Indy 500 rounds. But it would be an interesting one to do.

      4:14 appears to be a Surtees TS7, no other F1 car in that era of 1970 so forth, had a “box-like configuration” of the monoque like the TS7 did.
      4:15 definitely Lotus 72, with the airbox though I’m not sure what series of Lotus it is though…. Maybe 72E??
