    the skins and its window being small is what attracts me the most. I am told that Parole's *sound* and maybe even weight may be better, though.

    Very nice music player!
    Do you know how to add right click 'open with...' folder context menu on Windows 7? It can easily be done on Linux, but on Win?

    • @tommythompson002
      @tommythompson002  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try holding down the Shift key while right-clicking your mouse. I think that will provide you with more options. You should see Open with command that should allow you to search for a program. It's been a while since I've used Windows 7.

    I love this music player. Is there a way to mark a song favorite? Or move a song (with the mouse) into a playlist named favorite?

    • @tommythompson002
      @tommythompson002  ปีที่แล้ว

      The nearest thing that I know about is clicking on the Playlist menu and click on the Rename... command. Then name the list Favorites or whatever you want. Then drag or add your favorite songs to that new playlist. Audacious has a Forum that you can also ask, so the creators can see and maybe think about adding a missing feature to future releases or someone from the community might create a plugin that will add a favorites feature. -- I hope this helps.

      @@tommythompson002 I figured it out... I made a playlist called like. Then I can just copy and paste a song into it from the display of the list of songs (current playlist). I enabled a plugin to always have my playlists showing for ease.

    how did you get winamp skins to work? i added a few of mine and they show up but the appearance doesn't change. the skins work just fine on winamp under windows xp

    • @tommythompson002

      Place them in your /usr/share/audacious/Skins folder.
      I have illustrated images to the steps needed to add skins to Audacious.

      @@lands1459 Go into your settings and look for "Restart in GTK (legacy) mode" with the Appearance section. Change or toggle the settings you have and then restart Audacious. Then go back into the Appearance section and change the Interface settings. If it still doesn't work, uninstall it and install it using a different method. I installed it via Terminal using sudo apt-get install audacious using a ppa. If that doesn't work remove it and try the flatpak version.

      @@lands1459 According to the archlinux website, you should be able to use classic skins. Maybe you can try placing them in the ~/.local/share/audacious/Skins/ (user only) folder to see if they will work. I currently use Audacious version 4.3 on my Ubuntu MATE 22.04.2 system.

      To add classic Winamp skins to Audacious, just copy them to either ~/.local/share/audacious/Skins/ (user only) or /usr/share/audacious/Skins/ (system wide), then select them from the Skinned Interface tab in Preferences. Alternatively drag the skin file directly into the list view of available skins.

    Does this player have the ability to retrieve CD/Song data for CD that I want to rip for saving the CD to my hard drive? And if so, how do I do that? Trying to load a CD to listen to it and it's not coming up with any of the CD info.

    • @tommythompson002
      @tommythompson002  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can go into Audacious Settings and click the Song Info tab to select the info you want to include and exclude.

      @@tommythompson002 I'm pretty sure that is exactly not what I asked... I asked if it can retrieve CD/Song/Track etc data from the internet to actually show what CD I have loaded. I can't go to settings to click the song info tab to select info if the software can not retrieve CD data info from the internet in the first place... I am asking how can I GET the CD info to show up when I load a disc and want the Title, Songs, track data etc?

      I've ran into problems multiple times trying to stream web content with Audacious, so I just use it for playing music on my computer. They do have a nice forum that helps with all types of issues with the music player. I use Radio Tray Lite to listen to online streaming music. It's easy to use and can be customized. It might fade away in the future, but as long as the developers keep getting financial support from DigitalOcean I think it will hang around. Not every opensource project has a financial backer. It's the default music player for several Linux distributions because of the low amount of resources it uses. It can also be installed on Linux, Windows, and macOS.
