Great boat which is my favourite together w the Django 7.70. Ironically, I believe the 7.70 to have really bigger berths and better view in the cabine in spite of being really shorter?! I just fear Beneteau tried to squeeze a bit too much inside the 30jk. But it's a real beauty
I'm impressed too by the route stability of this First 30 in those high waves! Here in the Med did not have all this success but I'm sure that single-handling that boat should be a pleasure. Do you have some photos/description of runners set-up, in particular mast fittings height? Are you used to trim the mast after reefing the main (2nd or 3rd reef) to increase mast stability (avoid mast bending inversion)?
I love this video. I have shared it on FB. I commented on a previous video of yours, and I think you said you were going to do the 2016 Solo Pan Pac. How do I find out the results?
PJorge Rod I think the boat is a great boat for what it is. Problem is that expectations as a racer are higher as it looks like a racer. This is not a light boat. As a cruiser/racer it’s a very versatile and great boat.
Hi Hirk, i investigate a little bit in google and really I agree 100% with you. Who sees this boat thinks it is a POGO and it is not. Different goals in design.Nevertheless You confirm what I thought. Thanks a lot. I am exciting. I saw in france for 62k€. Think a little bit high in price. What you think? Thanks
@@dhusselman Same problem with the First 35 (Farr) which was supposed to challenge the Archambault A35 (in real time)... great boat but failed to challenge the A35 (not even close).
That s really impressive! Wish I could do the same solo with my own First 30 jk I purchased a year ago for the med! Seems you kept the boat pretty standard compare to French owners who added frequently some backstays. I would be very interested by any technical /tuning advisee or solo tips you may have for that boat to maneuver solo in strong winds.
+romain druenne . Thanks for your response. I actually 2 runners to trim the mast. This allow me to setup the rig for medium air and use the sheets to tighten the forestay and open the main a little with heavier winds. The boat is pretty much setup for single handed sailing so not much else to add to make it work. A strong under decks autopilot is key.
Finally! a First 30 vid worth watching.
Mooi gedaan Dirkske. Now onto the Transpac this summer. Hello Hanalei.

I realized that by the end my head was heeled 45 degrees to port

nice video !!!!
I have ridden in one review that first 30JK is not really beating boat, is that correct? Thank you
Nice!
How does the autopilot work in this boat?
It works fine on the boat. I had a Raymarine EVO 1 with Jefa drive. However on my current boat I have NKE and that’s on a different level…
Hello Dirk, beautiful video. In your opinion what are the drwawbacks of 30 Jk, if any? I am thinking in buying it. Thanks in advance, Paul

@@dhusselman Love to read your opinion as you have experience about your boat : www.yachtworld.co.uk/boats/2011/beneteau-first-30-jk-3552993/

The stability and balance of the boat are impressive. Note the lack of tiller input to keep her on course.
he's using autopilot
