    nothing like seeing a job really well done, with understanding, clear thinking and coordination and excellent seamanship. Thank you very much. I am going to do, say, 10 solo sails in the next 3 months, and watch this video before each one - never more than 10 knots of breeze. preferably less.

    Thanks mate. I recently started living aboard a 23 foot fin keeler here in New Zealand and am leaving the mooring this week. It will be my first time sailing in many years and absolutely first time single handed. This video is a great help. 👍👍😀

    Good sailing, nice tricks & tips, and a few pithy profound philosophical observations. Well done. I’m going to give it a go tomorrow.

    Top man. Excellent film. And very happy to see you're getting a lot more views than most of the dull sailing soap operas out there. Nice.
    As a solo dinghy sailor I fully appreciate the 'be prepared', 'plan' and 'get yourself organised' advice.
    "Forgot the boat hook." And the camera by the looks of it.

      Hi Ya. Thanks, glad you enjoyed it and yes, we try to keep it real. Although its nice to dream of living in paradise and having no problems its not the world that most of us live in

    Good tips, indeed. It boils down to: plan, reduce variables and have control. Thanks for sharing!

    "First thing is tell you how to rig your boat. Im not going to tell you how to rig your boat because you should know how to do that."
    Many of us come to your channel (Not anymore) to learn how to sail. I jjst purchased my first sailboat and I am trying to learn all I can before I take sailing lessons. But thanks for telling me a minute in I should already know how to rig my boat. Obviously you channel was not meant for me.

    • @SailingwiththeFoxwellFamily
      @SailingwiththeFoxwellFamily  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you want a film on rigging your boat, then search for that, this was a film about sailing single handed. If you as a viewer dont have confidence in your boat then setting off alone is not the right thing to do. Perhaps it could have been better phrased but we stand by what was said!

    right. i single hand my pearson vanguard. very similar experience but need all lines lead aft and better mainsheet stoppers. you can always improve. cheers

    • @SailingwiththeFoxwellFamily
      @SailingwiththeFoxwellFamily  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Neil. Good on you. Seahorse, our Hanse 29 made sailing single handed a breeze but with a bit of thought and rearranging of controls most boats can be sailed alone easily enough, and as you say, there are always ways of making the experience easier

    • @SailingwiththeFoxwellFamily
      @SailingwiththeFoxwellFamily  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my experience once a boat gets above 20ft or so then you really need more than one person, and even then you really need a well worked out system using a tabernacle other wise its just to heavy

    Never raise your sail at a mooring. That's what motors are for. She looks good in 8-10 knots lol. What a rubbish video.
