I’m a goat farmer in Leicester, near Asheville - the states. I rarely can get off of the farm. Never get to eat out so your videos are absolutely fantastic. I don’t think I’ll ever be jealous again of those who can get out and not have to pick up bales of hay. So much fun traveling along with you. Thank you for these adventures.
Hannah, In the mid and late 90's and early 2000's, this place was called The Atlantic, and it was the most fashionable nightspot in London right around the time Soho House started. I used to go there all the time with my friends. It was the kind of place where big Hollywood stars, famous painters and Soho bohos and conmen could all be met of an evening. The bar area was run by Dick Bradshaw, who was the best mixologist in London at the end of the last millennium. I had a lot of fun there with my friends. It was so great seeing the old place again in your video. Happy birthday, BTW! Eric W 🙂
Crashing dish clean up in a restaurant and less than friendly staff is a big deal in my opinion. As important as the food, when you pay those prices. It speaks volumes about the management.
Brasserie Zédel was once part of The Regent Palace Hotel, which was built by 'T Lyons & Co. Ltd' on Crown land, and was designed in the Beaux Arts style by Messrs.
I went here this month, and I think you were a bit unlucky. We had friendly service and a seat near the front by the band, and really enjoyed our food. The French onion soup is amazing! Great video as always though.
Brasserie Zedel is ALWAYS being recommended on the London TripAdvisor travel forum, mostly by pensioners. It's usually jam packed for pre-theatre meals.
This vlog was extra special for me! I stayed there when it was the Regent Palace Hotel, back in 1998 - my first trip to London. My room overlooked the Piccadilly Theatre, but from the 4th floor. She was a tired hotel that really needed some serious love. I don't think I ever went into the basement, but the room you were in was incredibly similar to the restaurant / breakfast room, but that was on the ground floor - well, from what I recall. I know a lot of it was demolished with the redevelopment - well, a hotel in London, where you had to ring for a maid to let you use a shared bathroom.... LOL!!! But thanks for an EPIC vlog!!! So many memories!
Aww. I loved the old Regent’s Palace, stayed there many times. It was old and worn but had so much atmosphere and the best location in London for theatre visits.
That's the old Regent Palace hotel! In the early 90s we used to go for carvery dinner in the faded splendour of its Art Deco dining room. It cost about a tenner for everything and we were served by an elderly waitress in who obviously loved her job. But to see it now - it looks spectacular! And all things considering these days I didn't think it was TOO expensive (except for the drinks, of course!) I'm actually thinking of going now. Thanks Hannah and Nat. And Happy Birthday for tomorrow, Hannah!
Happy Birthday to you our dear Hannah💐🏵🌹🌺🌻🌼🌷!!! You are so special and loved by us!!! I wish you much happiness, much health, and all the best!!! Thanks for this beautiful vlog! I wish a lovely Friday and a wonderful weekend to you, Natalie and all your family! God bless you all!🥳🎂🍰🎁🎈🎉😘😘😘
❤❤❤❤ Hello from Ohio in the USA. This is Teresa. I sure do enjoy watching❤ I would love to visit London one day. And I absolutely love your accent. Thank you for showing us all the beautiful things in London.😊
This is amazing city. In London you can find a wide variety of products from any part of the world, and it also has luxury places where you can enjoy a few pleasant hours having a drink. It has large green areas and museums of all kinds. I definitely love London and would return as many times as necessary ❤❤
Hannah, you and your sis have such a nice bond. It’s always a pleasure stroll around London with you both and exploring new restaurants. 👌🏽 Thank you🫶🏽
Another great video. Please don’t worry so much about your hair-you always look amazing! I appreciate it when you show the restrooms in places like that-usually they are worthy of comment. Your honest reviews of these places are so helpful and amusing. Thanks so much! I hope you have a wonderful birthday as well! ❤
Great restaurant and very reasonable for high end food. Discovered today that Westminster Abbey has a Restaurant and they do an Afternoon Cream Tea! Couldn’t find prices, but what an historical location! 🥰🌻
Love the idea that it’s secret. It’s been open for years and is nearly always busy. Those prices for central London are amazingly reasonable. And staff are usually pleasant and attentive.
Lovely video! Other comments are saying it's your birthday on Sunday. So if it is - Happy birthday for Sunday! I hope you get lots of nice presents and treats! x
I know about it. Went with youngest daughter recently. Going again once tourist season over. The Sardines Provencal were excellent. Her mashed potato was the creamiest ever.
I am a law-abiding citizen but if I got a surprise charge of £5.25 for a fountain Diet Coke I'd be SORELY TEMPTED to let one of those cute napkins fall into my bag before I got up from the table.
Thank you for finding this place. Rather peculiar and reminiscent of post ww2 atmosphere .. or before that a few decades.. Especially the handrail design .. the photos.. the french posters photos etc.
We went to Zedel after seeing Moulin Rouge in November 2021 and loved it!! You really captured its deco Parisian vibe. Can’t wait for your visit to The Wolseley!
"Bar Americain" next to it is delightfully posh. And it has table service. It's quite coupley. Can be full. Zedel's is such a surprise. It's so big and grand. You just never expect it, especially under Piccadilly Circus roundabout :-) And the music at night is quite cool. Old style chic. Great review.
Hannah in the 90s this place was the Atlantic Bar very trendy bar. The atmosphere/music was grt. It was more than popular & always heaving & difficult to get into. I spent many brilliant nights in the Alantic Bar.
Me too I’ve just commented about that myself and reminicing about how wonderful it was back then - it looks lovely now - brand new in fact But it doesn’t have that amazing atmosphere that I now realise was London in the 90s ❤
The décor and vibe , reminds me of France as portrait in the 1920’s. Such a cool place. Happy Birthday 🎉🎂 Hannah ❤. Love when you have Natalie with you. You both play off each other so well. Great 👍 job !🎉
Loved the Vlog. Always enjoy seeing you and your sister together. I miss my sisters. Sisters make the best friends of all. Don’t you think? Have a great weekend Hannah, and loads of fun!
Great work yet again. Just a word of warning - the paper straws need a warning if you are allergic to gluten. Gluten is used as a binding agent for the papaer straws
In Canada we also say Zed. I remember once while in America I had to spell my last name which has two Zed’s in it and I had forgotten they pronounce it Zee. The waiter had no idea what I was saying when I was spelling my last name! 😆🤦🏻♀️
Evening Hannah thank you for the vlog on Zedel love the look of the place, love Art Deco. Shame the staff aren't friendly! Thought things were pricey, coke, water etc. Nice Weekend. Sue
What a lovely place for lunch! Loved the Art Deco, and the old black and white photos on the way in We say Zed in Australia too, unless we've watched too much Sesame Street.
I watched your video of the underground restaurant. Yes, it was loud where you were sitting. I enjoy watching your videos. I usually watch them in the morning while I drink my coffee.
Zédel is my main go-to whenever I'm around Piccadilly. I even went there in the 90s when it was The Atlantic Bar for Pre-Club Cocktails. I once spent most of the day there. Brunch at the café, dinner at the brasserie, Cocktails at the American Bar and then a show at Crazy Coqs. Pre Covid the set menu was on £12.99 so was even better! Still good though.
Happy birthday Hannah 😀 As another has said, building used to be Regent Palace Hotel. Back in the day, the area you were in was a night club!!🕺💃 Greetings from sunny London.😎 You must have filmed that a good few days ago as no rain recently??
Happy Birthday Hannah! Hope your day was wonderful! Neat little restaurant. Love the Parisian/French vibes. Food looked delicious but yes the coke and water were way overpriced. See you soon.
Been there, decor was amazing, very nice place, lovely atmosphere, excellent meal, but drinks a little expensive, place was very full when we went. Happy Birthday, ..... just a little late, but hope you had a great day.
Thank you lovely ladies for taking your viewers along w/you to lunch. Hannah, don't ever feel obligated to post a vlog. Do it only when you like. Your viewers enjoy whenever you post a video. 🎂🎉🌺Happy Birthday Hannah🌺🎉🎂
Brilliant Video 👏👏👏. As a lifelong Londoner I has not realised it was there until introduced by a visitor from Overseas 😬🇬🇷. Also just seen it is your Birthday tomorrow - Have a simply super day 🥂🥂👏👏
That was a bit of a gouge on the diet coke! Interesting restaurant, thank you for taking us along. Enjoy your summer and don't worry about twice a week.
Thanks for sharing your rainy weekend, been there done it too. Enjoyed the vlog and yes, those prices for filtered water and coke, that was the price when I was sitting on a sunbed in Nice overlooking the ocean so not reasonable.
I've just had a look at the menu on their website: Next time you go there, Hannah, take "le soufflé au fromage"; you can't go wrong! Happy Birthday Hannah! Great vlog and enjoyed seeing the amazing looking food. Prices were not terrible , but still on the high side. Quality may dictate the price. Thanks for sharing!
So good as usual Hannah. Restaurant looked really nice. But 20% VAT and 15% service wow. Here it is 10%GST and service what you wish to give. So a great heads up for my visit to London in August. Have a great Birthday. 🇦🇺🥂🍾🎂
Thanks for your vlog Hannah lovely to see your sister Natalie too. Doesn't mind about the weather your always a ray of sunshine . Food did look good x x
Love watching your vlogs. Always like & subscribe. Just so you know, I am in North & we don’t do ice tea or coffee so find it interesting how often thats your choice of poison 👍
Thank you for doing this one so I can live vicariously through you two! We had Zedel marked as a possible pre-theatre dinner for our trip to London, but we only were able to try a fraction of our restaurant list.
This What Brasserie Zédel was once part of The Regent Palace Hotel, which was built by 'T Lyons & Co. Ltd' on Crown land, and was designed in the Beaux Arts style by Messrs ... ❤❤❤
@@maureenander3466 It’s amazing what time can do to a place because when it first opened its was VERY fancy But then the war came along followed by 20 years of austerity and by the 60s tastes had changed - it was such an amazing location for a hotel I feel as though it never had its time in the sun that it should have and would have had the war not broken out. 😮
Hi Hannah. You asked for restaurant recommendations? What about Ting, Oblix or Aqua Shard in the Shard. The River Cafe (although, I know it's very difficult to get a table) Spring at Somerset House has a good reputation or as you like your afternoon teas, Thames river cruise with afternoon tea would be really interesting. Love your videos!
I enjoyed this video and the art deco themes. I will consider it for my next London holiday, especially since I saw at the bottom of the regular menu, that there is a gluten free menu.
I was shocked at how huge the restaurant was! Very pretty, but it seemed a bit “frosty” to me. No smiling waiters or welcoming staff. Prices for the food were good, but the drinks were definitely over-priced. Looks great for a quick lunch, but nothing celebratory, lol! Belated happy birthday, Hannah! Have a bit of a summer break, though I’m a bit spoiled with 2 videos a week. Enjoy your summer, and hopefully we can pick up again in the autumn! Meanwhile, I’ll be here for Fridays! 😘
Hi Hannah Great to see you with Nat. Seems like it might be too noisy when it gets busy in the evening. Very upset no baked Alaska!!! 15% service charge is getting to American levels…..not good…..especially if service isn’t the best.
Hi Hannah, I love watching you and your sister going out, you get on so well, you both have so much fun together. I love your outings to afternoon teas, So fun.. ❤️✨
Another interesting Vlog with your sister. That was a very expensive Coke. The decor was interesting and lots of seating but found it to be so loud clearing the dishes. Happy Birthday and hope you have a lovely day and the sun shines for you. 🌞 🎂🍰🛍️
Oh what a coincidence, I've actually been eyeing something from burga recently. I also need to finally try Ralph's coffee one of these (hopefully sunnier) days, always looks so good !
I LOVE these vlogs .. hidden gems that you show, and lets be honest 20 quid for 3 courses in London is incredible... . keep up the great work ladies xoo
Happy birthday Hannah! Perhaps the Zédel staff are emulating the aloof service of Parisian bistros? Your honest reviews are thoroughly entertaining and it’s always nice to have your sister join in too.
Zedel is so reminiscent of Brasserie Georges in Lyons, which we’ve visited several times over the years. The menu is much more varied and interesting though (Georges has an Alsatian food theme) and the prices quite reasonable for central London. Thank you for covering it, it’s definitely on my list for my next foray into that part of town!
Lovely Hannah. Oooh Picadilly street. Love the cold weather and the scenes. First time I'm hearing about Zedel Restuarant. Wish we saw more of John Lewis. Was I seeing Uni Qlo in the background? And of course Happy Birthday for Sunday😊

Joanna Lumley once said in an interview that she loves Zédel.
Way to go!🎉👌
I'd go just to see Joanna Lumley!
Oh wow I love Joanna Lumley. So classy. ❤
Hope some nice weather is coming your way! 🌻🌻 When I went to Zédel, I also thought they weren’t too polite, but the food was lovely!
Thank you that’s so kind of you! Glad you liked the restaurant too!

Reasonable unless you are paying in Canadian as dollar vs yours and American is pathetically low.

The clearing of used plates and cutlery sounds like staff taking out their frustration 😂
Nah they’re just being french (!) 😂 it’s funny because it’s true 😂😂😂
Liked the restaurant. Enjoyed seeing a copy of Steinlen's "Tournee du Chat Noir" He did a lot of nice artworks. Happy Birthday for tomorrow.

Nice work, Hannah when I come home to England, I I will be visiting some of those places that I did not know existed thank you 🥂😉
