- Do you have to spend £60-100 per person to have a cake and tea in one of the posh London hotels? Today we do something a little different, as I check out some of the top luxury hotels who offer afternoon tea, and go to their take out cafes to see what we can find. Make your own afternoon tea, or just grab a nice coffee, all at a much lower budget...

Ok you had me at 'patisserie crawl" I'm in!!! We have no 'real' patisserie' in rural America. Nothing like the gems in Europe...so yes this Vlog was perfect!! Love all of them but...maybe you should ' attach the map for us...and when we next visit we have it in hand...I do like even the little gems (bakeries/tearooms) in the countryside for a proper outdoor picnic!!! Keep up the awesome vlogs!!❤
When I’m in London, if I can’t find a seat, I always love to sit in one of the local parks or sit “street-side” watching the world go by 😂
Hannah, I gave my husband homeopathic remedies for his hayfever. He had exactly the same as you, eyes streaming, couldn’t go out in the garden half the time. I gave him the one for watery eyes, I believe it was Euphrasia. Look it up, maybe go to a homeopath. I know lots of people poo poo it but honestly he now goes out and cuts the grass with no problem. That was 30 years ago!
Also, I love your videos, we moved to the USA 15 years ago and miss wandering around the shops and parks. I love hearing you chat too, like being with a friend and having a good old natter. 😁

I’ve been to the Vesper Bar at Dorchester three times for cocktails. Expensive drinks but the service is fantastic. Very nice as an occasional treat.

I am amazed at the high prices for cakes even though they may be cheap in London. The price of two small 11 pounds cakes will feed our 24 rescued cats mackerel for a week here in West Thailand. That includes a piece of fish at the evening "turndown". Two 11 pounds cakes will buy a 20 kg bag of dried cat food lasting almost a month.

The Peninsula Hotel Group is a Hong Kong owned Hotel Group, which is owned by the Kadoorie Family. Exceptionally high end. As is the Mandarin Hotel, which originated in Hong Kong and is owned by Jardine Matheson, and the famous Keswick Family.

It’s going to be a difficult decision deciding where to have afternoon tea on my next trip to London next year. There’s a range between £65 to £110 pounds but as mentioned spending £100 or more for the experience may be just too much. My experience last year at the Dome Edinburgh for £30 was amazing. I doubt I could top that for value and atmosphere in London but we shall see.
So enjoyed this Sunday afternoon stroll. Always enjoy your wanderings around London and beyond. My family and I enjoyed high tea at The Landmark a few years ago, and I have to say, it was one I will always remember. If you do manage to go, I hope it’s still just as good. Great quality and an endless supply of sandwiches. Also, have you ever tried high tea at The Worsley? It’s worth checking out. Many thanks xx

Hannah, as a fellow allergy sufferer you should purchase an IQ Air base model or the Aeris 3 in 1 air purifier for your apartment. Just operate 24 hours during the allergy season. Loved the vlog - the area you were in had different tones of brick. More brown tones on my screen and I couldn't stop looking at the architecture. It was beautiful and really emphasized the architectural detail. Yes the tea ideas were great - stroll and eat pastry. lol You call it a Pastry Crawl. That is a wonderful and dangeroous idea.

My guilty pleasure of skipping into Smacdonalds once a week (£4.98) disappeared the moment I saw the price of those cakes. I have been to Rules though and would recommend it.
Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester is beyond amazing. I had the tasting menu and highly recommend it for a special occasion.

Hannah commentary is always great but this video had some really fantastic lines.
I have done patisserie crawls off and on I prefer it on the looser term much more cost effective but I do enjoy afternoon tea hard to find one that doesn't serve dry sandwiches. Yet to find one who has mastered it as you might find them before I do. Ice cream has gone up certainly not that I can without risk (lactose intolerance) try oregano oil in water for your hay fever it works for colds but also good for allergies tastes awful but certainly wakes you up faster than coffee. Thanks Hannah that was fun :)

Loved our last visit to London over Easter with the US Fam. I’m a Brit in the US. I had not been to London in 24 years! It’s so beautiful, so much to do, we didn’t have enough time to see everything in two days.. beautiful cafes/stores and very orderly and clean compared to NYC. love your vlogs, wonderful for us expats who miss our homeland. As I did not win the Euro Lottery on Tuesday eve (180 Mill) afternoon tea at the Dorchester will have to wait awhile 😂🤪.
Nice too see some alternatives. I think a formal hotel/store afternoon tea has its place, you go in knowing that £100 + for 2 people, is the probable price level.

The worst place to look out for traffic while driving is behind the Odeon Swiss Cottage where several lanes converge into one and cars come from all angles

Yes, you are right you should not have to spend 100 pounds for afternoon tea, but you should spend the 150 pounds once for tea at Claridges.

Coffee used to make me feel ill too until I started having oat milk instead of cows milk. I only like iced coffee though, the price at the Peninsula seemed to be standard London price but £13 for a slice of cake? Lol! Wow! 😂
It is such a shame the prices have skyrocketed at the Dorchester. 10 years ago it was 70 with a glass of bubbles. They also had no restrictions on refills of sandwiches and cakes. We were all offered our own dogging box etc. Now over 120 a head just isn’t worth it.

Hi Hannah if you are still have your Hay fever try and find someone who makes local Honey. My comes from a bakers that has a apiary in the back garden of the bakery which is only about a mile from where I live. To far from you (13 miles). Has you live near the west London Parks there must be a Apiarist near you.
