Okay, I think I cracked the code: Robert included a bunch of RANDOM GARBAGE in the box along with the figure as a means of foreshadowing the fact that this IF Drift looks like a bunch of RANDOM GARBAGE attached to a robot frame.
The $1 bill in the box is him paying you to keep the figure instead of mail it back to him.
Yeesh... You aren't kidding about how this guy looks... The hell was IF doing when they designed him? They're normally a lot better than this. I'd imagine the Corona caps were what he was getting drunk off when he bought it, and the JK cap being from the painkillers he downed when he realized he couldn't return it? I mean jesus, it looks like he's wearing one of those barrels that naked people would wear in the classic comedies from like the Chaplin era...

@@Wymorence it looks like iron factory is on a samurai kick for the next few releases after this it’s samurai iron hide and ratchet. Iron factory mystifies me as a company they could easily make a ton of $ if they focused on re releasing some of their old designs (specifically the damn Optimus prime and megatron) in stead they do weird side projects like the movie drift or samurai versions of characters or the anime seekers. It doesn’t even make sense since for them to suddenly have this samurai line since their next releases are supposed to be a prowl and his repaints, an ok looking brawn and Outback, grapple/inferno and than huffer and pipes with their big ticket thing for the year being a combiner lio Kaiser.
@@Wymorence I actually like it when you separate the kimono correctly and pose him. In many places he has the skirt together in alt mode and then complains it looks like a car. You have to separate and pull it down like the marketing material (like he did at the end in his final thoughts section, but not in some other areas).
Man, the more I see of the newer Samurai IF figs, the more I appreciate the Bludgeon/Banzaitron mold.

Just got around to unboxing my red and white recolor. Watching this before I transform. Makes my second Iron Factory which I’m really liking.
This was one of my most anticipated Iron Samurai/IF-EX figures. Now that I have him in hand, he's just so BAD. The tolerances for the hands especially are terrible, the kibble is just the WORST here of all the IF-EX figures thus far. If they don't fix these issues with the IDW version, I might just skip that one entirely, which I really don't want to do, because IF is also making an Iron Samurai Ratchet.
Honestly I'd get their idw/alien car version of drift and deadlock. The whole samurai aesthetic feels like an easy way to justify shellformers and seeing IF's record with figures it kinda hurts honestly
I hate how they are doing ball peg hands now instead of the pegs being attached to the separate hands. At least if one broke you only lost one hand if that ball peg breaks on the arm you can't use any of the hands. Yeah I was excited for the white version to get an IDW Drift into my collection, but I think I might cancel it now. Since I don't think it will come with a different head sculpt (to be more like the comic) and is just a repaint of this I think I might just save my money.

a g1 styled movie drift looks cool but this figure is awful im just waiting for the tripple changing one hopefully thats better
I'm in for bits of this line and have the white version on preorder, but honestly he was the least impressive from day 1. Even before he got into people's hands, the aesthetic doesn't really match the rest of the line. Like Lockdown is a sorta old timey looking car decked out with spikes, Ironhide and Ratchet are sorta more medieval looking cars and then drift is just a Bugatti

Normally IF gives us an OK robot mode and a suggestive alt mode but this time they gave us a bad robot mode and a bad alt mode.
It's hit and miss with IF, to say the truth it's more like hit and miss and miss and miss and miss. Even when they release an OK TF action figure it ends up being just that... an OK TF action figure.
IF used to be a good Legends TF action figure company but that was loads of releases ago before NA and MS changed our perception about what is acceptable/forgivable in a Legends scaled TF action figure. All those things we used to be able to forgive because "...it's just a legends scale TF action figure." can't be forgiven any longer. Bali jointed elbows, a suggestive alt mode and a big amount of kibble in bot mode can't be forgiven
Since I'm already invested in this line I'm going to keep buying some of the Iron Samurai releases but I wont ever buy another IF on preorder and I rather loose my deposit than pay for this one.
