You're amazing! I love your work and you so much and I don't even know you! You've given me so much inspiration and more importantly, you motivate me to get off of my behind and create ❤ I am disabled, have a collapsed spine, and sometimes it's hard to get motivated, but you are my motivation... If I need a jolt, I pull up one of your old videos and get myself going again ❤❤❤❤
Awe Honey, I am not disabled, but I am 65, and have slowed down, I have so much stuff, but I seem to still go to the Thrift Store, it’s just you never know what you will find, It’s a hard World 🌍 out there, I try to be thankful, for everything, I wish you a new year of Health, 🙏
What a wonderful find in the sweet needlepoint floral piece...and the black handles on the picnic basket are perfect with the decoupage paper you chose, I agree! Sometimes those challenges bring even better outcomes.
Loved watching this! I found you maybe back in August. I am so grateful for your inspiration! I do similar things and have just started doing shows. That is going really well but would so love a permanent booth. Every place I check has a waiting list😔. I’m 62, so all that packing and hauling is a lot of work! You are just a breath of fresh air and how cool you got to leave your job!! You truly deserve that!! Can’t wait to check out your booths this summer…I’m from North Central Illinois, but used to live in Door County. I try to get back there at least every summer…looking so forward to all you have in store for 2024😁❤️🎉
Thank you so much Kimberlon for supporting my channel! I really appreciate it! I hope that you will be able to find a booth to put your creations into. 😊
No I Thank You.... I have learned so much you amaze me with all you do every day. You are so talented. I have worked more in my craft room than ever. You get me so excited to try what you show us to do. And all the info you give out is great. And you show us so many techniques on how to do things differently. So never give up. I love how upbeat you are in all your video's. Thanks. 🙂🙂❤❤❤❤❤💯💯💯💯💯👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Each project turned out really nice looking. On the basket, that decoupage paper was so pretty with the dragon flies. Great advice on how to put it on. Wish I knew about it the first time I ever used it. What a mess I made out of it LOL. Happy to see you used that dark oil (or even wax) on the needle point picture. It tones down the red some that it’s not so bright of a red. My suggestion that you should do the scale too. I think it will make the scale look more aged bcuz over the years the red would have darken. Great sweet makeovers. ♥️😊👍👍🌟
Love the heart and love that red on the frame......The basket turned out gorgeous!!!!! Happy New Year Sonnet!!!! Woohoo can't wait for the new product!!!!!What an exciting new year for you!!!!!
I thrifted a very similar basket recently with those metal handles. Thanks for all the tips! Yours is really pretty. I am thinking of using that numbers paper from Roy cycle on top.
Sonnet, Can't wait to see the new things happening for you. My favorite item in this video was the needle point picture. The red frame brought out all of the colors - beautiful.
Loved the metal heart especially! Love your enthusiasm and passion for what you do. I am new to all this, and find you very encouraging and knowledgeable!
I loved the scales. The red paint brought out the original paint on the front. And the way you distressed it looked so authentic. I doubt the one you saw could have been any better than yours. And I love that you kept the needlework andchanged the frame. It looked so pretty. the picnic basket was great too! Happy New year and many blessings for 2024, Sonnet!
Something I’ve learned about this day and age is that technology issues are a guarantee. It’s best just to roll with it when it happens. Congrats on your year 🎉 Many blessings for 2024!
Aaah! I enjoyed the thrift to treasure. Is it just me, or have longer time (as usual) past between previous t2t and this one? Anyhow, glad you're "back". Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve for mid-year. 😊🎉
Thanks Martie! It has been a little while since my Thrift to Treasure videos because I was doing the 25 days of a Handcrafted Holiday. Now that the holiday season is over, I’ll be doing more of these for sure! 😊
The oil wax gave me the color and dimension I wanted in the crackle effect, but also served as a sealing top coat. The glaze does give the same color effects, but will not seal the project and make it more durable. To keep from using too much product you can always put the oil wax directly onto the brush and it will use a smaller amount. I hope this helps answer your question. 😊
The Goodwill Bins or Outlet is where they take the items that didn’t sell in the regular Goodwill stores. They have them in large bins that you search through and most of them are pay by the pound so you can find a lot of amazing things for pretty inexpensive. 😊
Hi Tonya, any water based paint takes up to 30 days to completely cure. This is because the water in the paint takes time to evaporate. Once all of the water is evaporated, you can use the piece to its full potential. Until then, use it gently, otherwise you run the risk of chipping or scratching the paint. I hope this helps answer your question. 😊
Hi Becky, it’s harder to see in the video than it is in person. The dark oil wax seeps down into the chips and cracks of the milk paint and brings the definition out more. 😊

Did I miss the reaction of the heat gun on the Milk Paint on the first piece? The picnic basket is soooo romantic!
You didn’t miss it, I just didn’t do a close up until the container was finished. 😊
Pretty pink!! ❤
I'm so happy for you!! I'm thinking your half year thing is maybe a royce decoupage paper. But either way I'm totally excited!!!❤

What about the inside of the picnic basket!
I left the inside of the basket as is, but you could definitely paint or decoupage the inside to take it up a notch! 😊
Love watching you from here in Virginia!! Looking fwd to your videos in 2024 ! Happy New year!!!
Thank you Jean! Happy Nee Year! 😊
Everything is gorgeous. I love your website too just ordered some stuff from it!❤
Thank you Tanja! I appreciate your support and business! 😊
I'm surprised that red paint didn't come through on the needlework project. Must have been a thick paper. Love out it turned out! ❤
Yes that paper worked great to keep the paint out. 😊
Happy New Year, Sonnet! I liked the little embroidery piece best.
Happy New Year Gina! 😊
❤
Beautiful pink metal pot! Where do you purchase the long green paint brushes feom?
Thank you Maryanne! I bought those brushes from Walmart. 😊
Can't pick a favorite today 🥰How does oil wax compare with a glaze? It seemed like you use a lot of product for not much change.
You mention, often, the Good Will Bins. What is that, is it a separate store from Good Will? TFS
The Goodwill Bins or Outlet is where they take the items that didn’t sell in the regular Goodwill stores. They have them in large bins that you search through and most of them are pay by the pound so you can find a lot of amazing things for pretty inexpensive. 😊
What was the first white-looking medium did you use? Anyone? Thank you!
I used DIY’s paint in White Swan for the base coat and I sealed it with DIY’s Big Top. 😊
You have let DIY Paint cure for 30 days??
Hi Tonya, any water based paint takes up to 30 days to completely cure. This is because the water in the paint takes time to evaporate. Once all of the water is evaporated, you can use the piece to its full potential. Until then, use it gently, otherwise you run the risk of chipping or scratching the paint. Do you sell online ?
I do have a website! www.sonnetsgardenblooms.com/product-category/iod-transfers-stamps-moulds-paint-inlays-inks/
The first project … can’t really see what the oil stain did?
Hi Becky, it’s harder to see in the video than it is in person. The dark oil wax seeps down into the chips and cracks of the milk paint and brings the definition out more. 😊
