My 06 sti has the oil light turn on after a few aggressive pulls and started to have a pulley type squeak sound coming from the internal engine and stopped turning on. I feel there’s no oil inside could the oil pressure sensor save it ?
I don't want to sound the alarm but anytime there are noises from inside the engine that's not good, especially if it won't even turn in aymymore. The oil sensor doesn't hold any oil at all, it's just measures how much the oil pumps against it.
Block is still holding up great. Unfortunately there weren't many events last year due to Covid but I did daily drive it for a while. Has just under 7k miles on it now. Hoping to maybe turn it up a little this year with a FMIC and max out the turbo. If you want to push real big numbers then I'd spring for the closed deck block, but otherwise it's a solid set up for us.
My recommendation would be anything but OEM short block. Definitely want someone to do proper machining with torque plates so the same problems don't happen again. It's a balance between budget and best practices. But I would save the money for the right parts than risk having to do it for a 3rd time.
This is going to be me in a week. I'm already feeling the stress of the first start.
It's the smells that freak me out the most. I always tell myself it's a good burning smell.....not a fire or meltdown.

We are in RI, about 40 min north of his Dyno shop.
How does the block hold so far? Im thinking getting one. And how many miles on it rn?
