Hi, i've some problem with the gas-burning generator. The electrolytic separator takes 8kRF to create hydrogen and the gas genearator generates 8kRF. Where am I wrong? Might you help me, please?
yeah, Aiden Bradey the mod author for Mekanism changed the rules around the gas burning generator a few versions back. he did it to make it more realistic. no longer will the hydrogen produce enough power to run more than the system needed to make the hydrogen. you have to move into ethylene to get the power nowadays. grow some potatoes and crush them to get bio fuel. mix the biofuel with the hydrogen in a PRC which gives you the ethylene, run that into the gas burning generator and you will have tons of power pretty cheaply.
The process with just hydrogen broke the laws of thermodynamics. Splitting water with energy, then burning the hydrogen to get energy (which chemically also forms water as well) shouldn't some how give a surplus of energy. In fact, it takes more energy to set up such a loop.
I tested in my testing map, the Gas burning generates 8k rf/t when full of Hydrogen and the separator also uses 8k rf/t to produce Hydrogen. Useless generator.

Hi Adrian, Mekanism is actually made up of 3 different mods. Mekanism, Mekanism Generators, and Mekanism Tools. They can work independently, but are most often found together. The generators are obviously found in the Mekanism Generators mod. Just make sure that is in your pack and you should be good to go.
The electrolytic generator needs so many speed modules that you end up wasting 8k RF/t while the generator makes 8k RF/t... And apparently that's intentional: github.com/mekanism/Mekanism/issues/2743
The gas gens don't do well at all. There's a bug that makes energy upgrades not work in the separators, so the hydrogen production takes about 100% of your net power generation from a hydrogen burning gas generators, and about 80% from an ethylene burning gas gen. But wait, there's more! If you planned on using ethylene anyway, you still have to factor in the other components to make it self-sustaining, which will lower that remaining 20% power production to all of 3-5% depending on if you're using machines to grow/harvest material to crush up into biofuel or if you have a mob grinder, either way, it's a total waste of hours worth of effort to mine the materials to make the setup and get it all rigged up right! Essentially, anything that generates power by using an electrolytic separator is negated to the point where you're better off just using solar generators.
@@oblyx Hydrogen takes exactly 120rk/t to produce, and generates 120 rf/t. No net gain whatsoever. And ethylene isn't any good, it takes a minimum of 500 rf/t to automate production of enough biofuel (using wheat, which is slightly more efficient than anything else except perhaps melons which are less reliable thanks to the wider drop-count range). Add another 450rf/t for hydrogen production to match consumption rate, another 1.2krf/t for the crusher (or worse if it's not maxed on energy upgrades), and finally another 2krf/t for producing the ethylene. Total minimum cost: 4.2krf/t Total production: 5.9krf/t Net gain: 1.7krf/t Factor in space needed, cabling, item ducts, RAM usage to keep up with all the math, and client-CPU load to render all this, and you're INSANELY better off just making 5 advanced solar generators for a simple and completely self-sufficient net gain of 1.9krf/t with at LEAST 1/50th the rendering CPU intensity. It might as well not exist if you're not netting at LEAST 3.5krf/t from ethylene. At best, it's a side-generator for if you plan on intentionally using astral sorcery for extended night time. ------------ While we're here, are there any other Mekanism machines that have been nerfed into uselessness? I'd rather not make a Fusion Reactor and put a few billion RF into it just to find out it now """more realistically""" produces a similarly over-nerfed max of something like 100krf/t and the machines to run it and generate the fuel cost 95krf/t of that. (I wish that was a joke, but with so many electrolytics and their not benefitting from efficiency upgrades despite being able to take them and stating that they're making the machine "10.0x more efficient", that's actually a possibility. At 8x speed upgrades, each separator takes 31krf/t, so yeah... it's no doubt RAPING the net power output even at your video's shown base output of 399krf/t.)
sounds like you have either built an inefficient setup, or are starving the system of some resource. most often i find people starve it for water, or fail to include buffers. post update which removed the ability for hydrogen to work as an efficient fuel source I've used ethele fueled gas burning generators to power entire bases as you could see on either of my ATM3 series, or my Project Ozone Lite series. As a mid tier generator they are fantastic. They are not, by design an end game generator. That is what the reactor and the turbine are for.
@@oblyx Well shit, how much water does the thing need? I figured a direct pipeline from it's own kitchen sink (which instantly flooded the line to max capacity, and filled the already hooked up separator to the brim) would be plenty. >they are not an end game generator Nope, but endgame is a far cry from midgame, and given how little effort, space, and computer-intensive adv. solar (a fairly early game energy source) is comparatively, a single ethylene GBG should far outshine 8 adv. solar gens in non-arid climates. If they want to balance GBGs for any reason, they shouldn't be nonsensically removing the benefits of energy upgrades in separators (yet ridiculously still allowing the machine to use them, despite their lack of their essential functionality). They should be balancing the regular GBG energy output numbers based on fuel used. The best mid-tier generator so far is your already easily mass produced adv. solar generators. If ethylene was going to be at all of value, it'd have to be able to keep up with at least 8 (preferably 10) advanced generators (given that the ethylene requires a significant amount of biofuel).
@@TheKhopesh send me a pic to my instagram of how you built yours. maybe i can see something. biofuel is super easy and cheap to make, especially if you have immersive engineering or actually additions in the pack. make sure to use a factory with power upgrades which are relatively cheap to make. don't do the speed upgrades until you have all the power upgrades in place and are making a good amount of power. water wise, make sure you are using an ultimate pipe and watch the machine for if it runs out. also check that you don't have one of the machines set to dump because the machine will run forever and constantly consume power. a good setup will turn on and off as needed filling some form of battery such as an induction matrix, power cells or the like.
Omg just listened to this while playing minecraft, and realized and it scared me so much, that you sound so much like joker heath ledger when you speak, you have that kinda voice, freaked me the fuck out
Protip: make a melon or pumpkin farm for the pressurized reaction chamber. 1 melon = 16 biofuel (4 melons = stack) 1 pumpkin = biofuel (8 pumpkins = stack) A farm of 8-16 melons should more than enough to be self sustaining if you use a digital miner with silk touch and transporting.

Use a charged configurer to make transport block next to water source pull out water an transport it
Thanks you
Hope it helped, and thanks for watching.
help my mechanical pipes are not working
They must be configured. th-cam.com/video/phicOmxaQxk/w-d-xo.html
The electrolytic generator needs so many speed modules that you end up wasting 8k RF/t while the generator makes 8k RF/t...
And apparently that's intentional: github.com/mekanism/Mekanism/issues/2743
It was nerfed because it was literally power from nothing, but i also get where youre coming from cause luterally any other generators
Finally enough energy to power my stargates 🤣
Right. To the moon and beyond.
It's no bug. It's by design that hydrogen no longer works. It's more realistic. Ethelen is actually a really good power source.
@@oblyx
Hydrogen takes exactly 120rk/t to produce, and generates 120 rf/t.
Total minimum cost: 4.2krf/t
Total production: 5.9krf/t
Net gain: 1.7krf/t
Factor in space needed, cabling, item ducts, RAM usage to keep up with all the math, and client-CPU load to render all this, and you're INSANELY better off just making 5 advanced solar generators for a simple and completely self-sufficient net gain of 1.9krf/t with at LEAST 1/50th the rendering CPU intensity.
It might as well not exist if you're not netting at LEAST 3.5krf/t from ethylene.
At best, it's a side-generator for if you plan on intentionally using astral sorcery for extended night time.
------------
While we're here, are there any other Mekanism machines that have been nerfed into uselessness?
I figured a direct pipeline from it's own kitchen sink (which instantly flooded the line to max capacity, and filled the already hooked up separator to the brim) would be plenty.
>they are not an end game generator
Nope, but endgame is a far cry from midgame, and given how little effort, space, and computer-intensive adv. solar (a fairly early game energy source) is comparatively, a single ethylene GBG should far outshine 8 adv. solar gens in non-arid climates.
@@TheKhopesh send me a pic to my instagram of how you built yours. maybe i can see something. biofuel is super easy and cheap to make, especially if you have immersive engineering or actually additions in the pack. make sure to use a factory with power upgrades which are relatively cheap to make. don't do the speed upgrades until you have all the power upgrades in place and are making a good amount of power. water wise, make sure you are using an ultimate pipe and watch the machine for if it runs out. also check that you don't have one of the machines set to dump because the machine will run forever and constantly consume power. a good setup will turn on and off as needed filling some form of battery such as an induction matrix, power cells or the like.
did they remowed wind generator??
They are in the Mekanism power mod pack.
Omg just listened to this while playing minecraft, and realized and it scared me so much, that you sound so much like joker heath ledger when you speak, you have that kinda voice, freaked me the fuck out
Hahaha never heard that one before. Kinda cool though.
2020: gas burning generators have been NERFED. Pretty sad that I can't power the entire base with it...
Use ethylene not hydrogen.
@@oblyx I was a bit mistaken, I just added 70mb/t into the generator. When I increased it, it skyrocketed into orbit. Still a good source of power.
Protip: make a melon or pumpkin farm for the pressurized reaction chamber.
1 melon = 16 biofuel (4 melons = stack)
1 pumpkin = biofuel (8 pumpkins = stack)
A farm of 8-16 melons should more than enough to be self sustaining if you use a digital miner with silk touch and transporting.
Cool tip. Thanks!
Just spent the past couple hours getting the materials to create the items for the hydrogen gas generator in Enimatica 2 Expert without reading the latest video comments first. All that time wasted. 😢
My Gas Powered Generator only creates the exact amount that the Electrolytic Separator uses.
And apparently it’s because they changed it to only be able to power an electrolytic separator
I realy like your tutorials but it would be much better if you talked faster
Thanks Luc
i am literally using solar generators to get 300 rf ;-;
