    The one thing you have said about the Ultimate Furnace is that it would be able to do those 9 stacks with just 9 sticks as fuel.

    One extra thing about the Electric Furnace that I've spotted; it uses the vanilla furnace smelting recipie. If you have certain nether ores in your pack as well, smelting them will make 2 ore blocks of the regular type. Which means combining mods can net you 10 ingots per nether ore if eveything lines up. Check the in-game NEI/JEI to make sure though

    3 years late to the party, but I have a challenger for the ic2 furnace
    Furnace Overhaul mod: Zenith Furnace
    Upgrades: Electric Fuel Upgrade, Processing Upgrade, Speed Upgrade.
    It far outstrips anything I have seen before. As with the others power it with the creative energy cube, but it can run with 512 RF/t. It can work off of less power, but that is what I always supply it with.
    Compare: the output, the power requirement, and the speed, between FO mod and IC2

    Still not exactly a fair comparison between the seared furnace and the electric furnace. The seared furnace can get far larger than that - it doesn't just scale up but out as well, it is by far and away the most fuel efficient furnace for bulk smelting(lava may take a lot of power to produce but the seared furnace uses hardly any in the process of smelting), and if you start throwing in double chests of items, the electric furnace, for all of its speed, will not be able to beat the shear volume that the seared furnace can provide.

    • @oblyx
      @oblyx  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi John. I can see your point, building a massive Tinkerer's Furnace from bedrock to build limit would indeed allow for a large amount of cooking at a single time, though i think they capped the height it can be not too long ago. There is still the slow cook time to deal with per round of items, but the output per cook duration could be high. However, I'm a realist at heart, I like my machines practical. If you are cooking a standard workload of a couple items then that massive furnace is still going to be slow and cumbersome, not to count the resources needed to build it. Whereby the smaller quicker one block powered furnaces will serve you well and allow you to get onto what you are wanting to do faster. The only point at which the Tinkerer's Furnace could outshine the others, as i'm thinking, is in the extremely rare situation where you'd need to as you mentioned cook up many double chests worth of stuff rapidly. However, to build the furnace of a sufficient size you'd need many many many double chests of furnace cooked seared stone. It's just not seeming practical to my way of thinking. Don't get me wrong, I like the furnace, and it doesn't get enough love from the community. We can agree there. I even used it in my 'The Final Frontier' series. But at the end of the day, for general purpose use that most of us will need in a Minecraft playthrough the speed of single cooked items will be more beneficial than the power to cook a bajillion items at once slowly. Just my way of thinking. But I really do appreciate you bringing a different perspective and getting me to think through it. I love it when someone can make me think of things in a different way.
