Scar tissue can be a big issue because it prevents tissues from sliding and gliding past each other. This can cause increased friction in the body and cause tension, pain, and even problems with the nerve. Getting scar tissue and tissues to slide better not only helps pain relief but restores mobility! We use a lot of techniques such as Graston and Active Release Technique to help patients get out of pain!

I had a one inch size bundle of scar tissue at the back of my neck very close to my spine. I had been going to massage therapists for years but no one could truly tackle the spot that wreaked havoc for years of pain, postural issues and circulation problems. Until I met Mary. I never went to female therapists because I believe they would not be strong enough. She put SO much effort and care into the miracle that happened on my second visit- the tissue broke apart. We actually heard it release! It was a shock. I actually got shivers down my spine! Life changing.

1 year ago i had a grade 1 muscle injury in my pec from dumbell pressing. After the injury i kept training even tough it hurt and i ended up only being able to do a push up variant where the emphasis was on the lower pecs.
Now my muscle has kind of deformed, it looks different from the other pec when i contract. I was able to build strengh backup to 60kg benchpress for 30 reps. But i can’t even dumbell press 2 kg anymore. The mind to muscle connection is completely gone in the previously injured pec, and my Shoulder starts taking over because it hurts. Do you think that adhesions or scar tissue is the problem. Its like you Said in the video, it feels like it aint gliding smoothly, and everything you decscriped in the video sounds like it.

You might wanna see a physical therapist and possibly get a scan. For adhesions, cupping therapy or shockwave therapy is good if adhesions release techniques are not enough.

Thank you so much for this video. I got cut with a machete a little over a month ago about an inch down my wrist on the inside. Cut through three tendons to the bone. I got surgery 5 weeks ago. Just got my dressing then off and the ok to start scar massage. Getting better mobilization in my fingers and thumb but my wrist isn't budging one degree. And is so so painful. Any suggestions? Thank you so much.

Sorry to hear that. First would to make sure you have clearance from your surgeon that you can do soft tissue work or treatment. I would not do anything before getting this advice as they are the expert and completed the surgery.

@@DrJoshJagoda I have suffered with a constant choking sensation immediately above the apex of my Adam’s Apple from a butchered plastic surgery 16 years ago. It might be the result of an overtightened full width platytysmy, a lateral dissection of the platysma that pulls back the lower half and sutures it towards the mastoid area. The anterior digastrics are also highly stressed. This procedure was never asked for, and the unethical surgeon was “showing off” to students who were in the OR using me as a cadaver. His techniques include using endoscopes to reach areas far from the point of incision, not paying attention to what damage he might leave behind, so, yes this might well be a problem of internal scaring of fascial tissue, especially since radiologists have not identified anything to date. But since this condition is unique, I would rather go through an invasive surgical procedure to finally be done with this long suffering. Do you know a colleague surgeon talented in ameliorating scar tissue problems who practices in the NYC area or greater? I’m prepared to travel a couple of hundred miles, but I’m sorry, I can’t travel cross country to your clinic. Please help.

Hi, I have torn my ATFL, CFL and sprain Deloit ligaments in my ancle about 7 weeks ago.. I am recovering pretty fast, hovewer I am noticing a tightness on the back of my ancle limiting my motion and giving my some pain, what would be best option to getimgy my motion back as well getting the scare tissue to remodel and screech a little bit to get back to normal function.

Best of luck! Lots of these tears and issues can really limit your motion. I hope you are able to get some movement back into the foot and ankle.

So I’ve got a lot of built up scar tissue in my hip flexor (right side only), anytime I play football now and perform an explosive movement it almost gives me a dead leg sensation but it’s sore also, I keep seeing a physio and they use ultrasound treatment, it helps but ultimately the pain just comes back as soon as I play again no matter how long a break I take. Haven’t been 100% for over 3 years now, any help would be appreciated

Thanks for watching. Ultrasound machines are really not the best in my opinion. Maybe in the acute stage or if there is swelling but for 3 yrs out, you may need more aggressive techniques. Myofascial release and specifically Active Release and Graston are something you should look for. They have directories where you can find someone to help you.

You can always schedule online @ sandiegospineandsport.janeapp.com/#staff_member/1
I would try and find a practitioner that does both if possible. If you cannot, then go to one and see if it helps. I prefer ART and Graston.
