That looked like it would feel fabulous. The techniques are definitely working smarter, not harder and the client is assisting with the overall treatment. Fantastic. Thankyou for sharing.
I just became a licensed massage therapist. I'm also a personal trainer,, All your techniques are amazing. I would love to get a chance one day to directly learn from you in one of your classes. Many thanks
Wow wish I had John in my city San Jose Cali great video I have rear impingement on both shoulders this would help me so much, from being a mechanic and being a gym and outdoor guy
Hi! I was trying to look what possibly be the specific cause of the pains in my shoulder, arm, and neck. I have been watching different videos then I found this video. My problem is I can not even raise my shoulder that high because I feel so much pain.
Can u help me? U I have Suprascapular nerve impingements not due to cysts with severe muscle atrophy in both of my shoulders. My muscles are 100% atrophied in my dominant arm and about 85% in my other.
I have paralysis and I am going paralyzed in my arms. Mayo Clinic had never seen my condition before nor could help me. In fact, i need muscle & nerve transplants in both of my shoulders. Even so, i am wondering if you could help me somehow? I also have RSD in both arms. I have SPS in my upper body, i have cysts in both of nt knees that causes sciatica when they fill up & i have a growth on my pituitary gland inside my brain. O & i have herniated and bulging discs in my middle of my back. My phone number is 321-626-7823. Thank u again!!! I am in severe intractable pain in both of my arms. 😢
Thank you for this explanation. Helped me plenty with my teres minor - injured it years ago playing tennis. Pain is still there but it is definitely more more manageable
Thank you very much, this is very kind n generous. I do plan to do your Master class n I have your book. I am curious tho how to manage this on people who find it difficult/painful to lift their arm that high?
The MCPJ where the thumb meets the wrist is one of the most common areas to suffer with osteoarthritis - thats why i dont use my thumb, wax is by songbird - regards JG
Hi John, I am a myotherapist and i am currently suffering from chronic posterior deltoid pain from too much myofascial work and not using my body effectively. Do you have any videos for treating the deltoid? thanks for all of your excellent tuition and videos. amazing.
Hi, thanks for the comments, I don't have any videos on treating the posterior deltoid as I don't believe this muscle suffers from any particular issues. Regards JG
Can you use a similar technique to get at the rhomboid from a sitting position? I saw your Upper Back/Shoulder/Rotator Cuff video with the patient lying down... I'm imagining it's the same approach?
Active or passive motion is a functional movement and naturally will promote normal range of motion, rather than treating statically as you might not see much of an improvement if you massage this way, regards JG
You are kinda working alot of muscles that might be slightly over stretched though. I'm just curious what the underlying philosophy or plan is here because we all know that the front muscles are gonna be way tighter
So, what have you actually treated with these techniques? What problem did she have initially (pain?injury?restriceted range of motion?), and what was your aim? What changes did this treatment produce within the muscle? For how long? How do you know it worked?
Thats a lot of questions.......I use these techniques as they promote functional motion and I ask the patient to perform some of the movements so is known as active motion and this can be varied depending if there are any joint or muscle restrictions. The overall goal would be to improve pain free function and I believe this can be achieved from what I demonstrate in the video. I have many other videos as what I show is only one small component of a treatment protocol. have a look at studying Anatomy trains / Rolfing /. structural integration as I am sure these courses will improve your understanding. Regards JG
Thats ok, a partial thickness tear is not to much of an issue, think about WHY the muscle has actually torn rather than simply treating the pain, the techniques I demonstrate will help though....regards JG
I will tell you when I get into massaging my abdulla oblongata I fell my erector spinaias rise to an uncontrollable instance that makes my lower trazpezious to unload ...ah thank you.

Thank you very much, this is very kind n generous. I do plan to do your Master class n I have your book. I am curious tho how to manage this on people who find it difficult/painful to lift their arm that high?
You can lift the arm for them passively as easier to control, especially if painful for the patient to lift, regards JG
Why not using the thumb? What is the name of the wax?
The MCPJ where the thumb meets the wrist is one of the most common areas to suffer with osteoarthritis - thats why i dont use my thumb, wax is by songbird - regards JG

Hi I suspect your problem is your Teres Major!
i did it to myself with my knees as your hand and my shoulder feels much better, any techniques to the front of the shoulder? this is so good
I have a few more videos on my channel so each for them, regards JG
Can you use a similar technique to get at the rhomboid from a sitting position? I saw your Upper Back/Shoulder/Rotator Cuff video with the patient lying down... I'm imagining it's the same approach?
I have a video for the Rhomboid area - regards JG
Welp
I see you have books.
I feel compelled to buy them as a massage therapist.
I have lots of books and sure they will help - thanks for showing interest, regards JG
Can we do these by ourselves
Thank you for sharing this video!
Thanks for the message and sorry for the late reply, regards JG
Thank you so much! How was the name of company for wax please?
Songbird wax
Why do you believe the active movement by the patient is necessary, or is it, to get good release and reorganization from the soft tissues?
Active or passive motion is a functional movement and naturally will promote normal range of motion, rather than treating statically as you might not see much of an improvement if you massage this way, regards JG
You are kinda working alot of muscles that might be slightly over stretched though. I'm just curious what the underlying philosophy or plan is here because we all know that the front muscles are gonna be way tighter
Would normally do the chest muscles first prior to this, regards JG
Sir is it also work on sprengel shoulder ...?
I doubt it but still worth a try, regards JG
I have pain in this area for more than 5 years, i think its a muscle torn rather than spasm ...can you please advise as its really affecting my life
I doubt a muscle will give you pain for that long, I would look at an MRI of the shoulder to rule out any pathology, regards JG
Absolutely brilliant
Thanks a million, regards jG
This was quite informative. Thanks
Thanks for the message and comments, happy new year, regards JG
Would you have the client normally sitting up for this technique during a session? Or can you do it side lying?
Either works well, regards JG
Teknik yang bagus
Brilliant! That was super helpful
Thanks for the message, regards JG
could you please tell me again, why you do the ten seconds of isometric contraction before the inhibition?
8-12 SECONDS is ideal to contract the muscle and then it will relax - it is called PIR in MET terms, regards JG
@@JohnGibbons deep tissue massage is much more effective, like hard pressing on the trigger points

Does tight supraspinatus and infraspinatus causes scapula dyskinesis or winging????
Not as far as I am aware as they are shoulder joint muscles and not shoulder girdle muscles, regards JG
Just what I needed . Can you also post K-taping to this problem ? There is some possibility to do it to myself? Thank you for what you do .
You can indeed...regards JG
