    I'm an anti-social mild observer of humanity at large. And I've enjoyed a few of your reactions so far, but I have to say, the opening of this one... _before_ the movie started, just your intro and banter parts..... were at top form. Seriously.... you guys *NAILED* how to open a video with this one. Not that you guys were bad before or anything... but the edits, quick cuts to alternate angles, timing, and the odd random, *BUT REAL* , human bit of "Am I not going to like caves after this? ... Do you _Like_ caves now?" tangent, was gold. It was a perfect blend of "Obviously real people just being real" and "People experienced and smooth at their work". And It really doesn't come off as "Commercial" when you guys ask for the like/subscribe/comment part.
    So in short, I'm loving seeing you guys really coming into your own with this, just don't lose that down home good neighbor sense as you guys get better and better at "Putting on the show".
    *Also,* love the capturing of honest *genuine* reactions... but goddamn... you have just filmed one of, if not *_THE_* Best jump scare reaction for movies. And my heart goes out to her heart... cause it obviously got a workout in while watching this movie.

    I think the X-Files episode you mentioned is called "Detour". Great episode! And great reaction, too - this movie is one of the most intense horror movies ever. I think the jump scares work so well because of the atmosphere created. There's this kind of quiet tension and dread to the whole thing and it makes you jump out of your skin when a jump scare happens. A lot like Alien!

      @@YouMeTheMovies I would have loved to see the version John McTiernan would have actually wanted to be released for the 13th Warrior, not the one that it's writer (Michael Crichton - Jurassic Park) gave us as he tampered without McTiernan's knowledge, he changed so much McTiernan nearly had his name removed from the directing credit. The political infighting of the Viking clan they help was hinted at in the shields fight scene, but it was cut out drastically and makes the film feel disjointed and less impactful because of it.

    There's a novel called The Descent (no relation to the film) by Jeff Long that deals in very similar topics of caves, human subspecies living underground, etc. It's not a horror novel, but more a dark exploration/adventure piece. If anyone reads this comment and likes the idea of exploring a strange, macabre and dangerous yet beautiful underground world, check it out. I heartily recommend it.

There's a shot in the beginning where they show the pills that she forgot to bring with her to the caves. I think that's meant to be a hint.

    • @petrilampela
      @petrilampela 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@scottneil1187 A sequel that's written by totally different people years later obviously cannot change the possible subtext of the original movie. And of course it can be just a monster movie, most people see it as one and love it like that. But for me it became a better movie with the subtext and it adds to the replay value (btw it's not my theory, if you google it there are dozens of people who interpret the story the same way). The bottom line is that there's no right or wrong in how you experience art. But I just have always loved movies and lyrics that offer even a possibility for you to interpret them in different ways.

    You should watch this while the cast commentary is playing. It’s really a lot of fun. Plus check out the behind the scenes. All of the cave systems they went through were the same exact ones. They were modified with each new scene. They also used scale models.
    Also they point out one scene early on in the cave where a crew member was visible, but they lit the scene in such a way that they were able to disguise him as a crawler.

    Actually the sequel is about if Sarah got out of the cave and she and some spelunkers going into the cave to recover her friends! The thing is, the US version actually cuts off right after Sarah sees Juno's ghost in the truck. I think the implication is just supposed to be that she is haunted for life, but really, it doesn't make much sense without the rest of the ending (the constant hallucinations of Jessica also don't have any pay off without it). It was cut there for the US release just so they could make a sequel. I only found out there was an alternate ending to the version I watched (Tubi) because I came out of it feeling somewhat confused and read about the alt ending on the Wiki.
