The PS classic was rushed and didn't have a good selection. The selection was understandable because of the agreements that sony needed because they didn't make most of their games, and having Spyro or Crash would have taken away sales from the trilogy series.
NES and SNES classic had many great games made by Nintendo themselves. Nintendo has delt with emulators in the past with those virtual consoles.
The WiiU failed because Nintendo users focus more on fun, so those who had a Wii and didn't want to spend several hundred to add a U to the end.
The PS4 was good because Playstation users focus a bit more on graphics and power, which the system clearly had.

The Playstation classic was such a disappointment to me, considering at my local pawnshop you can literally buy a Laptop for $60 that will emulate any PSone game you want, and a usb controller for a fiver.

I can definitely understand the sentiment. Although, the same could be said about the NES and SNES classics. If you already understand and promote emulation, or if you know how to build a Raspberry Pi box, you're probably not the target audience of a system like this.
If you don't want to deal with building your own emulation station (or don't know how, or don't have the time), it may be worth it to have a functioning system out of the box. I think if the PlayStation classic came out before Nintendo's mini systems, it would have been much more highly praised. We've been spoiled! 😛

Terrible idea, I did this once with a 200 dollar laptop. Tried to make it my atari box, bought some atari usb controllers and downloaded a bunch of roms and believe it or not it was just a waste of time, the games weren't even fun...lol...the purpose of these classics is to relive the experience you had with these consoles when they were new and fresh, with original controllers and officially licensed games...the problem Sony had over Nintendo was that most of the PS1 best games were made by a 3rd party even the Crash and Spyro series which in my opinion represent the PS1...but like Drew said you wont even play these anyways so whats the whole fuzz about, I even have a raspberry pi and I dont even have that connected either...it just feels good to own them, have a clean replica of your favorite past consoles, and feel the original controllers new out the box once again.
@@Nintendrew I'm not sure about the NES and SNES classic edition, but Nintendo's virtual console titles have always seemed very polished to me. Generally emulators will need some configuration to get them to run optimally on a system, and even then they often have small issues and occasional glitches and frame drops, but Nintendo's Virtual Console is very user friendly and seems to work without any issues or imperfections.
Sony's Playstation Classic on the other hand is just running an open-source emulator, and from what I've seen the emulation quality seems far from perfect. The case and controllers look nice, but apart from that you're not really getting anything extra over what you'd get when you just set up a raspberry pi with emulators.

This video represents my thoughts on the PLaystation Classic perfectly. Though far from perfect, it's by no means a bad system. It's still fin to revisit a lot of these games. And I even get a chance to play Persona's humble beginnings. (I bought the system recently for $40... so at a much more reasonable price)
It’s emulation is trash the snes classic plays PlayStation games better than the ps1 classic
SONY dropped the ball hard on this console. Anyone who owned one of these in the 90s knows exactly what I’m talking about without even elaborating on it.
Don Rickles No Gran Turismo. No Resident Evil. Not one Tony Hawk Pro Skater. No WWF Wresting games. Was there even a Twisted Metal mentioned. I can name a lot more PS1 classics. Final Fantasy 7, Marvel vs. Capcom, Driver, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. These games were HUGE and Sony didn’t even give us 1 of them. Atleast I can say I lived it in real time I guess. I have a lot of those on my PC anyway but I’d like to play them on the mini with my kids or some guest. Or take it work and hook it up at my computer while I’m doing nothing lol
@@michaelc5019 Twisted Metal 1, Resident Evil 1, and FF7 are on it. But yeah, the PlayStation Classic was a big missed opportunity. However, the lower price and modding capabilities make it worth it now.
Logan Palmer mod? Get a PC or a Sony handheld and it makes the PS One Classic irrelevant. Hell an Android phone can do what the Classic couldn’t. It was simply a copy of what Nintendo was doing and it failed. It’s 2019 and both Sony nor Nintendo even bothered to give wireless controllers with the consoles. We consumers have got to stop supporting mediocrity and acting as if they’ve done a good job.
@@michaelc5019 Those make it irrelevant to begin with, and that misses the point. Like the NES and SNES classics, it's for the novelty if you want it. That being said, I wouldn't pay the original $100+ price for it, but the $30 or $40 it goes for now is worth it.

I'm loving my Playstation Classic, i don't hold much Nostalgia for the Nes and Snes, but i do for the Playstation, just having that feeling i had as a kid waking up early in the morning just to play.
Sure it had a shoddy lauch, but now with one super easy hack it's one of the best mini/classic consoles available and it's really cheap.
I just loved the way this video was layed out! More content like this please! And merry christmas! ✨✨✨

This was brilliantly done, well done! So good to see someone not only recognising that it's not perfect, but that for some people, it may still be worthwhile for them, and that's okay. Such a breath of fresh air when compared to the seemingly endless stream of people who had very little, if anything, good to say about it.
There isnt much good to say about it, the fact that it exists at all is a negative.
Yeah. That would make sense but you can get a better and cheaper experience on PS3/Vita/PS2. The games people actually wanted can be played like the game was intended.
One positive review of the PSC! Thank you. As of August 2019 this console has so much more value thanks to the mods available. Satisfaction level over 9000.

Out of all of the review videos for the PS1 classic, this is by far the most fair and well done. I agree that it has many flaws for the price but at the end of the day its a huge piece of history and it was nice to see it back in the spotlight.

I guess the PS Classic is more for people like me, those who have little-to-no nostalgia for the PlayStation who want an easier means of playing time-tested classics without dealing with mucking about with emulators and ROMsites.

That's... debatable. Admittedly, I've only played Resident Evil so far, but I didn't see any issues with the emulation. Also, it seems like some of these missing classics have remasters on PS4 or are being re-sold on the PS Store, so I don't see too much of a problem.
