Just got into tie collecting as I've been selling them for a few months now and just kept some very nice ones and now I've got a nice little collection going

I like your taste! I'm starting out with 2 ties right now - Brooks Bros. and a Hermes. (Got them for under $30 each!)
Even though I wear a tie maybe 1-2 times a year, I appreciate classic menswear, and perhaps I shall transition into it once I mature a bit more.
A knit tie is a must for me. Cheers!

dont feel the need to buy expensive, name brand ties, buy ties based on their look and condition, dont pay $100 extra for a name brand tie when you could buy something just as good for 0.99$ at a goodwill

My tie collection kinda grew organically from when i had about a dozen, to by now I'd guess between 200 and 250 ties. I stumbled on this video looking for storage ideas. I have most of my ties matched to ~20 dress shirts, and then each these dress shirts are then color matched to one of 5 suits. That means, when I travel for work, I pick a suit and then pick a pair of shirt and tie for each day away.
At the moment I use a special metal hanger for shirts with a wire pattern underneath it for up to 7 ties per shirt. Worked for a while, but i am thinking of a dedicated hanger for ties for each shirt to better care for the ties.
The patterns I buy are totally different from yours. I often buy rather loud ties that my paler friends can't wear. My shirts are pure bright colors like purple, indigo, blue, red, green, or broken colors like baby blue, so a tie that's stronger than those colors makes it all work. My favorite tie creators are:
    - Pancaldi
    - Missoni
    - Brioni
    - Versace
    - Zegna
Pancaldi doesn't really have ties with any discernible repeating pattern, they are more like wearable pieces of art. Also why they are my favorite. Missoni are exquisitely woven. Older Brioni and 90s Versace have some psychedelic designs that, especially from Versace, sell for over 300$ *used*. Some are just for collectors, but some truly are gorgeous.
    Questions / comments :
    1. I notice you don't mention the different patterns of ties, only the most basic. Maybe a mention of the basics, like paisley, plaid, prints? And warding against awful novelty ties.
    2. Favorite tie creators?
    3. Would be good to mention, when choosing a tie, the occasion. You can wear a tie as much to an important business negotiation as to a jazz cocktail party, but not the same tie for both!
    4. Recommend more tips on color and pattern combinations, and pocket square combinations

I wholeheartedly appreciate this comment and your elaborate tie collection. I can put a video together with this comment in mind. Thank you again.

nice collections! i enjoyed watching your video.
7:55 the kind of pattern is referred to “Macclesfield tie” i believe.
if you like this type, try Drake’s tie from England (off ebay).
i personally like to wear yellow/blue tie with navy jackets
while burgundy pair with charcoal/grey jackets

I've heard that Drake's makes some wonderful ties. I will definitely have to invest in some that I see.

I think I went a little overboard with my tie collection. As of now I have 186. These ties are vintage, business ties, wool ties, comical ties etc. All of which are different colours, patterns and no two ties are the same.

That is an extreme collection. However, if they suit situations that you're in by all means. I'm curious to know which ones are your top five favorites.

@@AstepAbove21 honestly mate, it started out with just me getting a few here and there for an occasion like a wedding and I got a red tie which was the first one I believe I got. It then just sort of snowballed along the way.
Later in my education when I got up to my A levels, I decided to wear a suit because we didn’t have to wear a school uniform. So then that then kicked off with me collecting all different ties. A couple of years later with a few deals here and there for tie bundles from people selling them for low prices. I eventually ended up with 186 regular ties and about 3-4 bow ties.

@@AstepAbove21 it’s kind of hard for me to have personal favourites because I like ties based on colour and patterns as well. But my top favourite tie that I wore a lot was a grey paisley tie that I wore with a black blazer, trousers and shirt. So I guess it just depends upon the clothes that I’m wearing and what tie is appropriate for whatever event I’m wearing it for

@@AstepAbove21 when I wore my suit for my A levels, everyone else just wore a polo shirt and trousers and I wanted to wear a suit. Everyone just kept asking me why am I wearing a suit and made fun of me, but I loved to wear it because I felt way more comfortable in one.

@@Governor2310 You will definitely get looks and criticisms when one decides to wear suit. It's something that's going to happen when you are not around people that often wear suits. It's a different type of thinking and class system in my period.

You have 9 ties? I went from 3 to 31 in a month.

9 ties in the collection. I like to keep my options limited so I can be intentional with what I buy. I hear you. Collecting ties can be addicting due to so many choices. 3 to 31 is impressive. I'm sure you have some great ones.
