I'm not the biggest fan of kid rock but I went to a show 10 years ago. Tickets were 20 dollars, t shirts 20 dollars and 5 dollar beers. I have to say it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Dude came out into the crowd of people and sang out in the grass. He told everyone there is no Stars here only people. He made me a fan that day.
Same..... I saw him in Memphis when I was 16 years old. His concert is up there with the best of them!! And I've seen KISS, ZZTop, John Fogerty, George Strait, etc. so that's saying something.
I went to a concert in Phoenix, AZ for the same reason. Cheap tickets and beer. One of the best concerts I went to. Kid Rock ran around the multi level stage and did a solo with every instrument. I was/still am very impressed. He is way more talented than I thought.

Uncle Kracker started as the DJ (turntables) in Kid Rock's band in 1994 and eventually started doing some vocals in the band.. In 2000 Uncle Kracker released his first solo album (produced by Kid Rock).
He's MAGA. Nothing commonsense about that. I get a kick outta what a phony he is. Grew up on his dad's huge farm/estate about 30 miles north of Detroit. His daddy had a bunch of auto dealerships. The ghetto is all fake with this trash.
Love Kid Rock. Love his bluntness as I am basically like that. He voices his opinion, like him or not. I love him. He not a fraud, nor does he cater to the industry. Respect.
The Trump /Kid cop thing... he was so young when he did this. Hank Williams Jr. got ahold of Kid and reined him in from what I understand. Gave him some mature prospective, and became a mentor of sorts for him. Hank came to him as a voice of experience and helped guide him forward. Love them both! If you've never done a spot on Hank Jr. and Senior I'd love to see it!
Kid Rock did the rap/rock/country fusion extremely well. It arguably made his music the most definitively American music you could possibly make, since it combined three very different genres of music created in America. The guys trying to do country rap today apparently have no clue why we all loved the Kid and do it so horribly wrong.
He started in the hip hop field and branched out. If you listen to ICP interviews before they started being political they didn't like him but they would tell you he was one of the hardest working in the industry.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I grew up on Led Zeppelin, 80s hair metal, and Rob Zombie. So when I heard Cowboy I was hearing something I never heard before.
I'm pretty sure Kid Rock was the first artist to do this genre, and it was so controversial. People loved or hated him, but even the people who hated this music or him as an artist ended up either loving or at the least respecting him and this music. I was one of the people who couldn't stand him or his music when he first came out, but then realized it was phenomenal.
Went to the Metallica, Korn, Kid Rock, Powerman 5000 concert. It was the loudest show in history. Kid Rock began his set by screaming "MY NAME IS KIDDDDD!" and jumped off 12ft amp stack hitting the stage at the exact moment the lights, effects, drums and bass all kicked! A whole arena of hard-core metal heads went NUTS! Gives me goosebumps just remembering how perfect it was timed! Was like 5 shots of adrenaline to the entire arena!
I just noticed for the 1st time that in one short clip Kid is wearing a Marshall Tucker Band t-shirt. Thats now my favorite thing in the video. I can't believe I never noticed before.
@seangillooley7042 First, The Devil Went Down to Georgia isn't his only song nor his only successful song. Second, I never said Charlie Daniels' music was rap, but that it "opened the door" for later country rap artists. Third, what, exactly, do you think rap is? It's vocalizing and often rhyming the lyrics to the rhythm and flow of the music, without particularly singing. That's precisely what Charlie Daniels does. Maybe you can't detect or keep up with the rhythm, but it's there.
Kid Rocks first album came out in 1990. It was called Grit Sandwiches for Breakfast and Too Short produced one of the songs. He did a cover of Hank Williams Jrs. song Country Boy Can Survive in 1993.
What is now called Country Rap has been around for a while, it just has a Hip-Hop beat to it. People used to call it Talking Country or Talking Blues, something like that. And it goes pretty far back to like the 1920s, but something like Big Bad John is one of the more recognizable songs. Just like any music genre things just evolve and blend over time. Similar to sailing call and response songs that were used by many sailers, being copied and combined with Filk Music by Africans brought over on Slave ships where the sailers would sing, which lead to Blues, and on and on.
Every Kid Rock reaction you do mention "Bawitdaba" so you do need to react to it. In my opinion, I think when he did "Picture" w/ Sheryl Crow he started to release more country type music on the Cocky album, but he always had a type of mix in his music. I still think you need to do "Po' Dunk"...that's a great "country rap" if you want to label it, ahhaha. Great reaction! 40!
I truly think Kid Rock was one of the first if not the first to be successful crossing genres... rap, to rock, to country to southern rock etc.. maybe not in that order but.. he found success everywhere. I would say since 2007 my two sisters and myself go to see him every time he comes to concert.. It is our tradition but also, I just LOVE me some KID ROCK!
Southern rap of the 90s/2000syou might want to try: A band called "rehab" out of Georgia. Their biggest hit was "it don't matter" but "drinking problem" and "bartender song" are other well known classics. Think they'd be up your alley
Video has a play on "Smokey and the Bandit" movie. Old Kid Rock, the first records of him has that country rap. Hard to find recordings, " 3 sheets in the wind".
Wouldn't Charlie Daniels, Devil Went Down To Georgia be one of if not the first 'country rap' sorta style? I know there isn't really a rock element, but it still resonates a country-rap style to me...great reaction my friend! I still recommend Playing For Change: When The Levee Breaks (Zepplin cover ft.John Paul Jones) or The Weight (The Band cover ft. Robbie Robertson & Ringo Starr). Also Stevie Ray Vaughan & Johnny Copeland - Tin Pan Alley (a clinic in dirty Texas Blues). All would touch your' soul & just blow you away while showing how music is the universal language. ❤
I had this CD back in the day. Listened to it a lot, but somehow never saw the video until now. Can't believe all the references to the movie "Smokey and the Bandit".
Yeah, he freaked us out with "Picture". First time I saw him had never heard of him and he did a performance on award show and he did "Bawitawba" and I just stopped in my tracks like who/what is this??? And I was hooked just because he is a "bad boy" outlaw with a sense of humor and good beats. haha...
In reference to Kid saying "pigs" you have to remember that this song was in a different time. There has always been good and bad cops - applies any profession really, but I think that as Kid got older he changed so his views changed. He kept his wild but became "controversial" because now he doesn't say things "to be cool" he speaks what he believes...often simply common sense
When we were young back then we was always running from the cops. Like you said it was different times back then we were usually just having fun maybe a little underage drinking smoking a little and trying to not to get busted.
From what I remember .. Eminem and Kid Rock were on the same label and Eminem hit. The record company put Kid Rock to the side so he went out and built himself. Selling CDs on the streets and doing the Beasty Boy track to fame and fortune. He did a whole tour at something like $20.00 a seat to give back a bit (someone edit this, but some of the parking cost more than the show).. Anyway nice jams...
Detroit is the home of some of the greatest artist in the world! Kid Rock is definitely one of the pioneers of mixing musical genres and doing it successfully.

This was a rock album. After his close friend died Kid Rock was on a CrossRoads with Hank Jr that you need to check out. Hank called him "Bobby" and there was a county version of Cowboy you'd like😊
Kid is very tied in to Outlaw Country - Hank Williams Jr is one of his best friends. There is no bad Kid song in my opinion! Check out Cocky or revisit Bawitdaba - both are great! They're older more in his rock era.
Correct this is his from his first major album in 1999. He was still heavy in rock/rap a few more years then he started hanging with Hank Williams Jr and they did several live performances together. That kind of started his transition to more of a country sound that more people could connect with. It worked out well for him. God bless.
I love when ppl try to call him racist and he has a black child (single father) who he and his family raised. It’s crazy to watch ppl try to pull that flex. His song “we the people” has a line “black lives matter, no shit mf’er” and he’s holding his beautiful black granddaughter. I’m glad you love the older stuff. Seriously this whole album can be played from start to finish with no skips ✌🏼
He even delivered a little girl in his car on the 4th of July named her Liberty. he later found out she wasn't his. Killed him He was very involved in his son's up bringing. Even divorced Pamela Anderson because of the way she treated his son
I was at tock the country this year in florida. I had never seen him beforein concert before. It was a 3 hour headliing performance almost. He just kept going. It was an experience.
While Kid Rock always threw in a slow song in his albums as a classic ballad for the radios and whatnot, he didn't actually go full-blown country until his BORN FREE album in 2010. This particular song was from his DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE album in 1998, which was also acted as the big debut for one Marshall Matthers (Eminem) who did his first feature in a song called "F*CK OFF". While this WAS NOT his first album, that particular honor being called GRIT SANDWICHES FOR BREAKFAST almost a decade prior to this, this album was the first of three that became his best-selling albums of all time.
I love this song! I have a similar car. Mine is A Bandit II from Smokey & the Bandit II. It has a gold plat in the front of the passenger side that says Bandit II 103rd out of 600. The floor mats & head rest are also embedded with Bandit II! I love that car! It's actually an antique now! ❤
I worked on the new Red Wings stadium, and Kid was the first act to perform there.. and he was out there in person giving out free tickets a week before the show. He’s the real deal.
This song is so good. That guitar part is so cool. He does a good job of bringing a number of different styles together in one song. The video is sort of a celebration of the Smokey and the Bandit movies. Gary Coleman was the second little person to show up in the video.
Kid Rock has matured & come a long way but he's not turning his back on his life long fans. He says what he believes & stands up for what he thinks is right. His opinions don't change according to pressure from media or some DEI group. He's very supportive now of the police & military.
I like to call this the start of, country rap rock. Cause it really is all 3. Off his 1st album. The man was a visionist. Always loved Kid rock. Loved this reaction you did 🤘🤘
Kid has matured through the years… he has a 1/2 black son and a black grand daughter. Can’t stand when people say he’s racist. He’s not! He’s grown up through the years and he’s found Jesus the years. We’re the same age and he’s grown so much. Love him!!!

I’m 76 and seen 5 KID ROCK concerts and loved every single one 👏👍🇺🇸 He’s a great Badass Patriot and love his music👍💯👏🙏🇺🇸

I seen Kid Rock with his lil home and Kid Rock perform in 1999. In Sacramento California. It was a memorable bad ass show
The whole devil without a cause album is friggin awesome
You're right!! The whole album was awesome!!
I think it's his biggest album...
This was where he set the hook for me!
This is my favorite from Kid!
It even has a Eminem feature on it. Think it's title is F*ck Off. That was just before Em really blew up.
He even delivered a little girl in his car on the 4th of July named her Liberty. he later found out she wasn't his. Killed him
He was very involved in his son's up bringing. Even divorced Pamela Anderson because of the way she treated his son
Yeah he’s one hell of a civil rights activist.
I was at tock the country this year in florida. I had never seen him beforein concert before. It was a 3 hour headliing performance almost. He just kept going. It was an experience.
This is when kid was young and you grow and change
LOL. 1998 Devil Without A Cause. WOO! I still remember every word. I loved that era of Kid Rock. Seen him live a couple of times. Too LIT. 🤟🏼
Born Free isn't country its part Heartland Rock part Blues closest to country is Flying High
Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker ❤❤❤
I worked on the new Red Wings stadium, and Kid was the first act to perform there.. and he was out there in person giving out free tickets a week before the show. He’s the real deal.
The only thing missing was a stop in Texarkana to pick up a truck load of Coors...
This song is so good. That guitar part is so cool. He does a good job of bringing a number of different styles together in one song. The video is sort of a celebration of the Smokey and the Bandit movies. Gary Coleman was the second little person to show up in the video.
I can't believe you hadn't heard this!!!
Absolutely love love Kid Rock!!!!
Kid Rock has matured & come a long way but he's not turning his back on his life long fans. He says what he believes & stands up for what he thinks is right. His opinions don't change according to pressure from media or some DEI group. He's very supportive now of the police & military.
This takes me back to peak mtv pre reality shows besides the real world and road rules when it was culture driven not mainstream driven
Bawitdaba is a great tune!!
This tune is great. Love it.
This came on my playlist yesterday and I thought “Pegasus needs to react to this” and here we are. Not sure how I did that lol
😂😂😂😂
I like to call this the start of, country rap rock. Cause it really is all 3. Off his 1st album. The man was a visionist. Always loved Kid rock. Loved this reaction you did 🤘🤘
Kid has matured through the years… he has a 1/2 black son and a black grand daughter. Can’t stand when people say he’s racist. He’s not! He’s grown up through the years and he’s found Jesus the years. We’re the same age and he’s grown so much. Love him!!!

Your party can't even define what a woman is, talk about lacking intelligence. Both of you need to go sit in the corner and think before casting stones living in a glass house 😂
His concerts are awesome🔥
Fun song!!
