This was the album that made him. I knew Rob since he was doing small shows in Detroit at the state theater and selling his demos out of his car. But this is old Kid.
"'Roll On" is a good one by him to show off his vocals..."All Summer Long" is a good-feel nostalgia one and "Cowboy" goes back to his fur -wearing days and a good jam! Rock On!
He was the first one to use autotune as an effect, most people think it was Cher's "Believe" but this song came first. You would love this song performed live with Jamey Johnson, he uses a guitar talkbox to get a similar effect on his voice when he sings, it sounds so much better than "autotune".
Saw him at a country Music Fest AND with Bob Seger. Both were epic concerts IMO, seeing Bob Seger jamming and singing Bawitdaba with Kid Rock was unforgettable.
@@tbrown9491 I was at that show when opened for Bob Seger. Also saw him for the opening inaugural show at L. S. A. Saw him one other time at Pine Knob when ZZ Top played and they told the crowd they were hanging out with a local boy and brought him on stage for a song.
Kid Rock released this song in Oct 1999 and Joe C passed away in Nov 16, 2000 at the age of 26. Joe Calleja died in his sleep at his parents' home in Taylor, Michigan, from complications from celiac disease. His death was determined to be from natural causes. Kid Rock was crushed and heartbroken. This is a Great song!!!
I always though the auto tune was him speaking to himself in his head as it adds a bit of echo. I believe it was only used as a tool by a great artist .
Saw him live 16 17 yrs ago his show was awesome one of the best ever seen and I was in my late 40s at the time but my hubby is 7 years younger still love him and we listen to all his stuff all the time....😊
Kid Rock is such a good rabbit hole to go down. He touches so many genres. He has so many good songs that weren’t big but are fantastic songs (Care, Purple Sky, Born Free). All Summer Long, and American Bad Ass are absolute jams.
Kid Rock sings with his heart, writes lyrics to masterpieces, speaks what’s on his mind, calls a spade a spade, but deep down he is one humble dude. Seen him in concert many times and he Rocks the house down. Every time.
Kid was actually from a middle class family in Michigan. He would hang out in the ghetto & didn't want them to know. They would say where's that kid that's always singing rock? lol Hence the name Kid Rock! He said he was acting poor, but his dad would be picking him up to go to the orthodontist! lol Ya, sometimes he comes home to Michigan & we catch him on the lake! I think that's where his All Summer Long came from!
@@riveredflush Maybe. But with "Cowboy", it was mainstream/radio success. I know that personally, I had never heard "Bawitaba" until I bought the album which was after "Cowboy" went big. I guess it all depends on what you were paying attention to. I was pretty "Normie" back then! 🤣
It was this one album went from 2 million to 7 million once released the Views way higher on here then Bawitdaba and Cowboy they have more Streams though.
Kid was on an awards show (early on). The producer kept reiterating that they had to be careful of the baby grand on the stage. He REALLY REALLY REITERATED to kid. That piano was “worth a fortune!” In rehearsal, all was fine. Then came the LIVE SHOW. The camera was following him and continued to the rehearsed positions. But kid was mad. He jumped up on that piano and jumped up and down repeatedly. The camera kind of jerked from where they expected him to be to ON the piano.
Interesting note, at a kid rock show he will sing, dance, and carry on like a true rock star. He will also take over the drums for a solo, take over the keyboard, the bass, the guitar, and the turntables, all for solos giving his band a break one at a time. The energy of a kid rock show is off the charts.
Man, I remember seeing him do that in 2000 on the Summer Sanitarium tour at Mile High Stadium. Between that, the girls on the sides of the stage, Joe C...I thought his set was better than Metallica's. glad to see he still does that.
This was in 1998 and released a week prior to Cher’s Believe which is said to be the first hit song to use Auto-Tune so I’m guessing Antares Auto-Tune which was released in September of 1997 was first being discovered and utilized
Blue Jean's and a rosary is a must my friend and probably my favorite song.I loved old Kid Rock but I love newer Kid Rock just as much if not more ❤ Peace out ✌️ ☮️
His dad had car dealerships in metro Detroit called Bill Ritchie. He born in Romeo Michigan. And went to Romeo High School. His younger sister, Jill Ritchie, is an actress.
I grew up in Mt Clemens and a girl I worked with was dating him.. Lorelai with green eyes and nice "lungs"...she gave me a flyer for his show at a house party. he played in shady side park neighborhood ....i saw him there and did not like the music one bit, but the people did, at the time it was all rap. I was dragged to a show at pine knob about 10 years after that and was blown away!!! he did it all. he even played a deep purple song!!!
This song and Pictures with Sheryl Crow are my favorite songs by The Kid. He has a lot of versatility. Seems like most people don't give him credit. I think the voice shift was a planned effect ,kind of like what Cher did with 'Believe".
“Take me to the River!” Is like him saying he wants a new life, in a way a baptism. When I was listening to this back in the day.. I never understood it. I was partying way too much to pay attention to lyrics. 🤦♀️ Thx I enjoyed this.👍
Kids guitarist in the dY was Kenny Olson. Kenny knew the guys from a friend of mines local band up in Traverse City, MI. he would sometimes jam with them when in town. One of the greatest days in my life I got to jam with them. Shoutout to Kenny!
Always good to see Don's hansome face! 😊 This is one of my favorite Kid Rock songs!! Definitely takes me back! ❤ Since u mentioned having been on tour and doing roadie work, please, please, please check out The load out/Stay by Jackson Browne!! U will relate 💯, and it will instantly go on your classic forever playlist!!
I recommend Blue Jeans and Rosary, Born Free, and Johnny Cash. I’ve really gotten to know more about Kid Rock and his music is so diverse. One song he’s rapping. Another a duet with some pretty amazing women, and another with a steel guitar and violins. ❤
I wish I someone would upload where Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow performed "Collide" live at some music award show. They stood up and slow danced in it, which was unexpected. Sheryl Crow even reached down and grabbed his butt towards the end. Lol (They had a little romance years prior when they had that song called "Picture".) I can't find that performance uploaded anywhere.
Kid Rock is the best concert I’ve ever been to. I’ve seen him 4x and he never disappoints!! This was his 2nd album Devil Without A Cause. This album made him blow up. This was the 1st concert I seen him live. He was practically giving tickets away it was Bogo and the tickets were only $20 per person!! I can’t wait to see him in concert again!!
This song gives me chills every time I hear it, Kid and Jamey Johnson do a live version duet that really, really gets me! I can’t describe it, but if it hits you, you know.
This was before he really 'leaned into' his vocal abilities. The best thing about him is he's willing and able to be very adaptable, each album was different, though he seems to have settled into a groove of classic/southern/hard rock fusion.
There is something about being on a stage. I used to play drums in a band years ago & I have to say the most comfortable I felt was on stage. I was never really nervous prior to the gig. I got more nervous taking to fans & the crowd afterward. my biggest fear was people maybe thinking I'm a little cool for playing in a band & blowing it by saying something stupid & lose all cool points I may have had.
Bro check into what kid rock‘s daily routine is that starts at a little after four every morning. You couldn’t keep up with Kid Rock. He’s done more before you get out of bed then you’ll do all day. You can look it up on the Internet there’s video of him talking about it. Dude is in good shape physically.
Seen kid rock at HOB in nola when Joe C was still alive,he opened for monster magnet. Kid killed it! Most of this video was shot in my home town New Orleans. Great reaction
Kid Rock burst into the big time with his 1998 album Devil Without A Cause. I am 62 and have been a collector and connoisseur of great music since I was about 8 years old. I own over 6,000 albums. I believe that Kid Rock is the best artist of the past 25 years. I’m not saying that he’s my favorite or that he’s the best musician, in that time period he ruled and he did it on his terms. Plus, he’s a great, Patriotic American! Those are nearly extinct in the music industry!
This song is a vibe, and one of my most favorites of his when I owned all of his CD's in Junior High. By default, I hate autotune effect with a passion, but it works so well in this song. This is also probably the first song that I experienced that used it so heavily.
He transitioned to country the past 2 decades. He’s very good. When it rains it pours you can feel the emotion in his voice. He has way too many to list. The guy can flat out sing.
You are very much on point about Kid Rock..He knew what he wanted to be and left home to get it . Living on the streets..He had a son n even took the child n raised him on his own..He gets a bad wrap by alot of ppl for somethings he did in life .But when it's all over n done with the guy is a straight up good man..Paved his way.....
It's crazy that you mentioned Joe C (Joey Compton)! I went to high school with him in Taylor, MI in the mid 90s. He was a great artist and an evem better person ❤ he is missed by many. I just stumbled on your page by accident and I am hooked. Almost every song you play takes me back to simpler days. Love your content and love you! Signed, a middle-aged white grandma
Saw him live in Baghdad! He came for us in that shit hole... Much respect... forever!

I love Kid Rock❤️❤️❤️
So do i love him for what he stands for. Amazing man❤❤❤❤❤
His first album was in 1990 his big song on it was yodeling in the valley. Very very very young kid rock
This was the album that made him. I knew Rob since he was doing small shows in Detroit at the state theater and selling his demos out of his car. But this is old Kid.
Kid Rock puts on one of the best live shows u will ever see
Facts
"'Roll On" is a good one by him to show off his vocals..."All Summer Long" is a good-feel nostalgia one and "Cowboy" goes back to his fur -wearing days and a good jam! Rock On!
Agree!! Also Blue Jeans and a Rosery is a good one too!!!
Roll on is an incredible song.
Yes
Yeah roll on is feat. Yellowwolf.
Yes!!! So happy you are doing this one! My all time favorite Kid Rock song!
He was the first one to use autotune as an effect, most people think it was Cher's "Believe" but this song came first. You would love this song performed live with Jamey Johnson, he uses a guitar talkbox to get a similar effect on his voice when he sings, it sounds so much better than "autotune".
If ever ever ever have a chance to see him live you will not be disappointed. He puts on a AWESOME show....
For real! Hell of a performer
I agree as well. First time I seen him wasn’t the biggest fan of his. After that show I was a fan. Plays all kinds of instruments.
Saw him at a country Music Fest AND with Bob Seger. Both were epic concerts IMO, seeing Bob Seger jamming and singing Bawitdaba with Kid Rock was unforgettable.
I’ve seen him 3 times and other than Eminem, he puts on the best live show I’ve ever seen!!!
@@tbrown9491 I was at that show when opened for Bob Seger. Also saw him for the opening inaugural show at L. S. A. Saw him one other time at Pine Knob when ZZ Top played and they told the crowd they were hanging out with a local boy and brought him on stage for a song.
10:14 - Man, I'm so happy you recognized Hank Williams Jr.!

❤ I've seen Kid Rock in concert, that man is hella talented, he can play all the instruments, sing, rap, what ever he wants to do, He does it!!❤❤❤❤
Kid Rock concert is the best concert I’ve ever been to. He can still rock at 53
Kid Rock has been thru it, all the more reason to give him props for his accomplishments!
I always though the auto tune was him speaking to himself in his head as it adds a bit of echo. I believe it was only used as a tool by a great artist .
Exactly 💯
I met Kid in 2004. He signed the 1st Rolling Stones cover he was on. I also got a picture taken with both of us. He is humble and very friendly.
Same as Bawitdaba, this was from 1998's "Devil Without a Cause" album.
even thinking about that album gives me goosebumps.
It's where "Cowboy" is from too. As well as a song he did with Eminem, "F*ck Off."
Saw him live 16 17 yrs ago his show was awesome one of the best ever seen and I was in my late 40s at the time but my hubby is 7 years younger still love him and we listen to all his stuff all the time....😊
I am wishing for a Kid Rock, Tom MacDonald and Nova banger 💯
What a trio that would be 🔥🔥🔥
Went to a Kid Rock/Hank Jr concert in 2020. It was freakin awesome.
Blue Jeans And A Rosary, and All Summer Long are 2 must listen to songs.
Kid Rock is such a good rabbit hole to go down. He touches so many genres. He has so many good songs that weren’t big but are fantastic songs (Care, Purple Sky, Born Free). All Summer Long, and American Bad Ass are absolute jams.
I've seen him 3 times in concert and he is definitely the best entertainer I've seen. Would definitely see him again if he comes around my area again.
Kid Rock and Hank Williams jr doing Family Tradition is pretty good
I am becoming more of a fan over the years. He is so good and so charismatic.
The auto tune was just an effect for the song. He definitely doesn’t need it because that fool CAN sing
And play several different instruments too.
FACTS! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
He was definitely one of the best concerts I’ve been to .
The "vocal effects" are intentional 😂
Thank you! That's exactly why He did that in this song .
Kid Rock sings with his heart, writes lyrics to masterpieces, speaks what’s on his mind, calls a spade a spade, but deep down he is one humble dude. Seen him in concert many times and he Rocks the house down. Every time.

I freakin love Kid Rock & his drummer Stephanie. ♥
I LOVE this song so much. This was on my "smokin'" playlist back in the day. 😉
But "Cowboy" is quintessential Kid Rock. It's the song that blew him up
I think Bawitdaba put him on the map, especially after it was the theme song for "The Shield."
@@riveredflush Maybe. But with "Cowboy", it was mainstream/radio success. I know that personally, I had never heard "Bawitaba" until I bought the album which was after "Cowboy" went big.

I saw him play before the Kentucky Derby many years ago. He can sing. Was a very down to Earth guy and not pretentious at all. Talked to everyone
Kid Rock has been in movies. One in particular was Joe Dirt and he was hilarious
Yes he was fkn great in Joe Dirt 💯
You crying boy? LOL
I love this song. I also love "First Kiss" by Kid Rock. I've seen his live a couple times, and he definitely can sing.

I love Kid Rock, his music from long ago still stands the crest of time. 🫶
Love this song, the message, meaning. It's amazing. The song was out in 1998.
❤❤❤ loved this song many moons ago and still do.
Watch Kid Rock come out in Woodstock 99 with the fur coat and leather pants!!!! Fiiiiiiiire!!!!
He's awesome in concert!! 💗💗💗
Kid Rock is awesome as an artist but more importantly, he is a great human!!
🤣
No he's not anymore. He done changed and went to " da club."
🤣😅😂
😅
He is a terrific human being.

I hiiiiiiighly recommend Kid Rock's song 'Lonely Road Of Faith'...really shows off his natural vocals in that one!

You will not be disappointed with Lonely Road of Faith by Kid Rock.
He did the Kennedy Center Honors for Led Zeppelin. You saw Heart do Stairway to Heaven at that show. He sang Rock and Roll. Killed it
This is my favorite song by him. It’s just pure 🔥❤️

I got to sing and speak in front of 10,000 people in Nigeria Africa in the early 2000's it was a great experience
He's always had a good band too, they're musicians and their very versatile.

Congratulations and God bless your family and the new addition of your son.❤❤
As Michigan Grandma, i love Kid Rock
You want to see the best live show ever, go to a Kid Rock show. High energy from start to finish!! He even spins the turntable.
He rarely has any songs with autotune since this song and also this came out in 99 about a good 5 years before he really started singing
"Lonely road of faith" is my personal favorite!!!!!!
This song gives me chills every time I hear it, Kid and Jamey Johnson do a live version duet that really, really gets me! I can’t describe it, but if it hits you, you know.
I absolutely adore Kid Rock, he's the first singer to get me actually listening to hip-hop (metal-head). Greetings from Seattle!
Favorite kid rock song!!!!
This was before he really 'leaned into' his vocal abilities. The best thing about him is he's willing and able to be very adaptable, each album was different, though he seems to have settled into a groove of classic/southern/hard rock fusion.
Funny thing is. The auto tune is only for the album. Yet doesn't use it live.

Earlier days, he doubted his voice, but he mainly wanted that sound to emphasize the lyrics and emotion. He trust his voice more today than ever.
I wore out my Devil Without A Cause CD back in the day. I revisited it recently and still remember most the lyrics.
Damn I just looked it up......the album released Aug 98. I feel old now.
Kid Rock and Hank Jr are really good friends. They have performed a lot together.
Kid Rock burst into the big time with his 1998 album Devil Without A Cause. I am 62 and have been a collector and connoisseur of great music since I was about 8 years old. I own over 6,000 albums. Love this song by kid rock 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️
I've seen him twice in concert. He puts on a hell of a show
recently saw Kid Rock at the Rock the Country tour. You definitely need to see him live... Hell of a show!!!
This song is a vibe, and one of my most favorites of his when I owned all of his CD's in Junior High.
By default, I hate autotune effect with a passion, but it works so well in this song. This is also probably the first song that I experienced that used it so heavily.
Deep thoughts provoking song ❤just beautiful.love to sit down the beach and listen too this 🙏💞
Picture was the first time I ever heard his singing voice. I love it. I was hooked. Totally agree with you about the auto tune.
I love this song by Kid Rock, it sounds personal to me.❤🙏🏻❤️🥰
David Allen coe released this song at the same time and was on tour. With kid rock, so kid did an auto tune to differentiate 2 versions.
He transitioned to country the past 2 decades. He’s very good.
When it rains it pours you can feel the emotion in his voice.
He has way too many to list. The guy can flat out sing.
You just had to wait…..
Times Like These, Blue Jeans and a Rosary, All summer Long, First Kiss are some of my favourites
Also hell of a live show, especially if you can see him in his home town of Michigan. Pine knob, LCA, wherever but he always delivers in his hometown!
Love my Kid Rock!!!!!!! Have seen him so mamy times!!! He is absolutely amazing❤❤
Another great song by Kid Rock ❤
You are very much on point about Kid Rock..He knew what he wanted to be and left home to get it . Living on the streets..He had a son n even took the child n raised him on his own..He gets a bad wrap by alot of ppl for somethings he did in life .But when it's all over n done with the guy is a straight up good man..Paved his way.....
I’m crushing on kid rock
I love kid rock he whips it out there that's the whole purpose of song to get into the motion of song then it's a impact woo its a yes

Amen is one of my favorites off of his Rock-n-Roll Jesus album. Actually that album is what really turned me on to his music.
