    I somehow still haven't read one hundred years of solitude. It has been on my tbr for a while thanks to Emma but now thanks to you at the top of the list, but what I wanted to say is I highly highly recommend the novella a chronicle of a death foretold also by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I already had the book not knowing it's the same author and read it without knowing anything about it and I was blown away by the writing, by the story telling, everything. And I am awfully disappointed that is a bit underrated, I mean I haven't heard anyone talk about it, but it's amazing. I can't compare it ofc to one hundred years of solitude but now I would like to read every work by him just because of this novella. It is a bit graphic so maybe check the trigger warnings if needed. But also it has some hilarious moments that have made me laugh out loud

      thank you for the GGM recommendation! he does have a lot of work that gets overshadowed by his main two novels… perhaps i’ll start reading him in chronological order! thanks for watching

    Wow, such a glowing review of 100 Years of Solitude. I feel like I have let the book and myself down by not finishing it. I did struggle with all the character names… but now there’s a great “how to annotate “ video I’ve seen that I’ll use to attempt reading this book again. Great reviews and a really great video! Keep up all the interesting content

      if you want to keep track of the character names and nothing else, you can write on the family tree! also, the video i have coming out on thursday (annotating the master and margarita) might be of some use since i’m trying to keep track of the russian names !! thank you so much for your support

    a romance book I really enjoyed was 'seven days in june'. I struggle with a lot of romance as I find the writing really poor and cringy moments, but this book pleasantly suprised me. The writer had some beautiful writing but also didn't try to be about younger people, she kept it within her own generation meaning the moments aren't really cringy at all.

      I listened to it as an audiobook recently and I really enjoyed it! It felt more serious than other romances I've read (without sacrificing what makes romance fun) and I agree that it was smart to not try to write "younger"! Thanks a million!!

    I also read It Ends With Us this month- I liked it well enough, but apparently the sequel comes out in October of this year! It’s called It Starts With Us. I’m looking forward to seeing Ryle and Lily’s coparenting and (hopefully) seeing Lily in a healthy relationship

    It is enthralling how we all have our number one novels for all sorts of personal reasons. Mine is Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises, not least because of his vigorous writing style, partly because of its funny little baguette scented town amorously settled along the river.

    Hi Li!! I love watching monthly wrap ups, monthly reading TBRs, annotation methods, and any in depth review of a book/series that you really enjoy. However, I feel that the last one won't get much attention from the general public and its a lotttt of work(?) But as a booktube watcher, they're very much appreciated.
    Also, other things such as reading challenges, trope recommendations, things about books you love/hate, reading skills, unpopular opinions... and many more; a great variety of content would be great :D
    For July, I read Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh!

    as a big Camus fan i would say that the stranger is not so much a great intro to classics as it is a great intro to philosophical fiction as is Metamorphosis by Kafka. They are short and quite easy to digest books that pose philosophical questions in a non didactic way.

    • @lislibrary
      @lislibrary  ปีที่แล้ว

      you make a good point! although from what i remember i think the metamorphosis was more approachable...that first line would hook anybody
