Fun Fact: Glinda portrayed in this version is a combination of all three Glinda's from the movie, play, and book: 1939's film characteristic of traveling by bubble, Broadway's Wicked musical with having golden blonde hair & Baum's original book of wearing all white gowns adorned in solid gold and remaining the Witch of the South.
She is so different from the bubbly, extravagant and solar kristen's Glinda though. It feels like a totally different character imo. She only has the look.
I’ve always hated the 1939 Wizard of Oz film for merging the Good Witch of the North and Good Witch of the South into one character. While the north witch was older looks wise, Glinda is the most powerful witch in Oz and the oldest.
I never understood her magic. Like theodora has pyrokinesis, evanora electrokinesis. All understandable. But I can't figure out what Glinda's magic was labelled as. All her uses of magic are all so different from one another, compared to the other 2 witches where there is a clear link/over riding category for their magic. I wish if we got a sequel that not only does theodora become more evil and less redeemable like the wicked witch of the west should be (like how she earns that title); how evanora gets her silver slippers and I wonder if we'll ever meet the good witch of the North... come to think of it with the magic we've seen with glinda, theodora and evanora, I wonder what magic the witch of the north might/could have????
If I'm not mistaken glinda has hydrokinesis and photokinesis but idk why she has two. Or maybe she just has magical photokinesis that allows you to control other things. 🤔 Also thanks for commenting ❤️
@@benrichardson3031 because she doesn't kill and she forbids others to kill but if I were her the wicked witch of the west would have been super soked during the conversation in glinda's town🤣🤣🤣
@@Cute.lil.bubbles Surely a lesser evil though??? Whilst this is a typical Disney movie, if it was R rated it would be no secret how many people are killed by the wicked witches, and in an R rated Oz we'd see someone being tortured and slowly killed in a brutal and humiliating way, only for the wicked witches to find pleasure and joy from doing such things. In this case it would be the lesser evil for glinda to just hose them with her wand or something by making a stream of water (assuming she does have hydrokinesis). It's a quick way to kill a couple of horrible people for the sake of protecting hundreds, if not, thousands of innocent people from being killed in a brutal, painful and humiliating way.
Great take! Seems there’s a common thread between Oz and Hogwarts and where ever Star Wars is. And those comic book heroes as well. Maybe after the Universe ages a bit more, it will be more accessible to cast an occasional and acceptable spell.
I don't understand why witches are confused with fairies and vice versa both can do magic and can be either good or bad but good witches and bad fairies are rarely discussed.
wands originally were to focus magic not the source of their magic. i think she is able to use magic without the wand and she's possibly not as strong without her wand or skilled like the other 2 witches
Neither do the wizards and witches in Harry Potter, but the canalize their power better for a wand. Not many magic folks learn how to use magic without a wand, and most live in Africa or are from there.
How about this, when she destroys the eldest sister’s necklace , she lose her youth and power, and first earlier in the first scenes, the eldest sister told the wizard to destroy her wand, which mean the wand maybe bounded to their soul?
I never noticed and haven’t seen the movie so idk if they actually talk about it. But I just realized the Emerald city is protected by a bubble, which is clearly kept up by Glinda’s magic so it must be taxing for her to keep the magic going, fight AND venture outside. So it explains a little why she send a 14 yrs old fight a witch you know
