I sympathized with Theodora so much, even when I first watched this 7 years ago. She was naive when she met Oscar and she feel in love with a man who played her. He flirted with her like he does with every woman he meets and yet he fell in love with Glinda (who she believed to be evil) Her sister was manipulating her throughout the entire film and when she got Theodora into her most vulnerable state, she gave her the cursed apple that turned her into the wicked witch. My friends didn’t understand why I was so adamant that Theodora was never a villain, simply a victim, but my heart broke for her!
ironically, i do believe that theodora was able to get through the wall not bc she was simply strong enough to defeat glinda’s magic, but because somewhere deep inside of her, not even the places some old curse could disguise, there was goodness still there. it was just buried and masked under the need for revenge.
I love how when Theodora turns into the ICONIC green witch and laughs her wicked laughter for the first time you can see her sister shits herself and her whole face just screams "What have I done?"😱 I honestly loved that detail that she got more than she bargained for and as the movie progressses you can see she clearly fears her and regrets what she had done as she comes to realise she created a monster stronger, crueler and smarter than herself while what she wanted was a powerful pawn. It shows that Evil and careless(Oz) actions have great consequenses!
In the original 1939 film, when the Wicked Witch of the West shows up in Munchkinland, Glinda tells Dorothy that the Witch of the West is far worse than the Wicked Witch of the East.
Her sister knew she was weak and extremely vulnerable emotionally, but extremely powerful she turned her into a weapon for her own gain and for that I can never truely be mad at Theordora
@varric Evanora didn't even really have to control Theodora though, that's the worst part. She just needed to get her to a breaking point enough to unleash Havoc on the people that were a threat to her.
What’s funny is that her sister, who was supposed to be the wicked witch, ended up manipulating Theodora and turning her evil. But when she realized the mistake she had made, she saw that Theodora, with so much power, completely overshadowed her. Theodora became a sadistic madwoman who ultimately surpassed her in madness.
The turning scene is iconic! I always loved that scene as a kid not just because she was turning evil, but because it shows the menace and tragedy in a villains change, and the menacing way her sister turned her.
She did a good job, as you said she ain’t Margaret Hamilton. The 1939 version will always be hard to live up to. MH was perfectly cast and is still 81 years after it was made, the film still stands the test of time. We’ll see if anyone remembers this film in 80+ years time.
@@jonpendragon2066 I agree. I love Mila, I think she's a, great comedic actress, but wrong for this part. She has too much of a baby voice ,and sounded forced when trying to have a wicked voice. Should have went to an actress with a more deeper, raspy, harsh voice who can also pull off the wicked demeanor. Mila was the wrong choice for this part.
Not sure if I'm in the minority here, but I'm a little bit disappointed that once you think about it, the Wicked Witch of the West wasn't actually the main villain of this movie. If anything, Evanora was much more like the big bad for Oz and Glinda. Then again, that was probably paving the way for Theadora to be Dorothy's villain.
Sort of but another way to look at it is that in trying to create a tool that she could use, Evanora actually created a villain that was superior to her in every way.
I loved the scene where she turned wicked. Made me appreciate the evil roots like in maleficent and a massive salute to the original portrayal. And kudos to Mila kunis she was amazing in this role!
As someone who been in Theodora’s place. Sweet, kind hearted and naive, there’s just so many emotions and thoughts to deal with when you feel betrayed. You’d do anything to avoid hurt. It’s like the lights go off for a moment and it gets dark. she didn’t need the broom, she can fly on her own but i think she just wanted to be sitting. also it goes back to the og witches that technically flew on brooms.
@@peggleglge Yeah, also she got the idea from the "wizard" when they first met and introduce each other. He said , "You are a witch, are you supposed to have a broom to ride on? " In the scene with the broom, she said, " A broom you said, isn't it !"
@@peggleglge Witches technically didn't do anything because Witches, of this kind, never existed. Now, some historians believe the women we call "witches" used plants and herbs in their potions and medicines, would rub various plant oils on wooden rods or staves and would pleasure themselves by rubbing the rods/staves between their legs, on their erogenous bits to heighten the sensation. It looked as though they were "riding" broom sticks. Any truth to it? Who knows. But it's likely where the myth of them flying on brooms came from.
The wicked witch was created from a broken heart and the Joker was created from bad society. Evil did not exist but born from the cruelty of society. Look in the mirror before you judge someone for being bad.
Pour Elphaba it was a scary moment but it was mainly sad…. She was very kind and innocent when we first see her. And she was only trying to help oz. She didn’t deserve to eat that Apple, and turn into a wicked witch. 😢

The way Theodora says, “I defy you!” Gave me chills! Props to Mila Kunis!
Yesss 🩷
probs reference to "Wicked"'s "Defying Gravity"
@@盧璘壽로인수 That is a beautiful reference. Love that song.
@盧璘壽로인수 that would be cool
Wicked witch:" I'll get you, my pretty, and Your little dog too!" *Kackles*😈😈😈😈
Dorothy: You won't get away with this!!!
@@bettyottman1718 , well I just did. *steals Toto* *Kackles* 😈😈😈😈
I find it funny cause in that 70s show she dreams of being in oz as Dorothy and in this shes the wicked witch of the west.
Took me a long time to notice that her power comes from her ring. Just like her sister with the necklace and Glinda with her wand.
Me too lol I only discovered that like 2 years ago and I saw the movie in theaters when it was released 😅
The female version of the green goblin.
Lol
That’s funny because the guy who plays Oz was the New Green Goblin in Spider Man. Plus he says in the movie green’s his favorite color.
What's even more funnier is both the spiderman films and this film was created by the same director @@vadamsvengeance3219
This was one of my favorite movies omg 😂🤪‼
I hate to say it... but Mila’s Theodora makeup makes her look a lot like June/Offred from The Handmaid’s Tale.
Lol😂 true
@A.Username omg yes😂
After all these years, she still reminds me at certain angles of Jennifer Aniston.
@@Mrberkeley99 😂🤣😂🤣
If this movie scared you as a kid you either too young or I'm just old😂😂.
@Jocelyn Munkirs Sameeee😂😭
Really enjoyed this film!!
Wow I thought in greatest showman she was great but here wow!
Isn't This Movie Set Beforehand The Events Of The Wizard Of Oz
Yas⭐👍
That always confuse me back then
@@awafflefoundation Yeah Same Here So I Think The Order Of The Films Go Oz The Great And Powerful Then The Wizard Of Oz Then Return To Oz
@@lukeweston4729 yup
This was great, but I still like how clever Wicked got with their story.
Still wondering why she needed the broom after she flew around without it just fine.
she didn’t need the broom, she can fly on her own but i think she just wanted to be sitting. also it goes back to the og witches that technically flew on brooms.
@@peggleglge Yeah, also she got the idea from the "wizard" when they first met and introduce each other. He said , "You are a witch, are you supposed to have a broom to ride on? "
In the scene with the broom, she said, " A broom you said, isn't it !"
This movie is so deserving of a sequel !!
Yes it is ❤️
1:33 Kathryn Hahn wore it better.
I kinda agree 🤭😅
Hello fellow Agatha All Along viewer 💃💃💃✨✨✨💜💜💜
The wicked witch was created from a broken heart and the Joker was created from bad society. Evil did not exist but born from the cruelty of society. Look in the mirror before you judge someone for being bad.
Well said luv ❤️
Is wickedness born or is wickedness imposed upon
Actually, now that I think about it. This does seem like if Meg Griffin did have the powers of a witch.
I remember seeing this film in theaters for my birthday and I really enjoyed it! I know it got a lot of hate but it wasn’t a bad film
“Shut up meg”
OMG I HAVENT SEEN THIS IN A LONG TIME WHATTT
this was one of my favorites I couldn't find it
❤️❤️❤️
The premise of the Wizard intimidating those that are actually witches is great. This movie could have been as great as that premise.
Theodora be like: LET’S GO, MICHAEL!!!!
😂😂😂
Honestly, she's very Mother
And is ❤️🫶🏽
When she shows her green hand, it scared me as a child.
Same
I had the audacity to say "shut up meg" at the end of that..lol man do I love Mila Kunis though she does a great acting job!
Pour Elphaba it was a scary moment but it was mainly sad…. She was very kind and innocent when we first see her. And she was only trying to help oz. She didn’t deserve to eat that Apple, and turn into a wicked witch. 😢
Yeah she was so sweet and she just got done dirty by everyone around her. She deserved better.
Oz Trilogy:
The Wizard of Oz
Return to Oz
Oz the Great and Powerful
But I think the actual timeline is.
Oz the Great and Powerful
The Wizard of Oz
Return to Oz
What about TinMan the TV Mini Series.
LauraPaules: Mom of Beauty & Fashion. That was based centuries later. Centuries by OZ time. Zooey Deschanel’s character DG was a descendant of Dorothy Gale. I believe Dorothy had returned to OZ and become queen.
There was a sequel?
@@kyberebellion980 yeah don't watch it. They gave the sequel was much darker and just plain creepy that just did not get good reviews. Honestly i really don't recommend watching it but it that is up to you
I remember the older sister and thought she was you know who in TinMan
Wow never knew this movie existed , I kinda am here for it lol
Clearly Mila Kunis studied the hell out of Margaret Hamilton's performance. I think Hamilton would be proud.
I couldn't agree more ❤️
The fact that “Theodora’s” past is so different from the wicked broadway and moive
Maybe bc none of them are canon
And to think, after Oz grows old and dumber, Glinda stays young and beautiful while Theodora is regaled as wicked witch throughout Oz with no one having the heart to help. Glinda never calls Oz out for what he did to that girl, and Oz doesn't pay for his crimes. You Turned a witch sweeter and kinder than Glinda into the worst of them all. Just for her to eventually die later by Dorathy.
Ikr, she should've killed him when she had the chance.
Theodora is my future, I refuse to continue being a victim. “ I hate you “
I miss when wokeness wasn’t a thing. Look how many LP actors are there! Snow White and the seven dwarves could never
Yeah as a little person myself I am pretty disappointed in the snow white remake. Casting dwarfs to play dwarfs is not offensive and the fact that people are taking it that seriously is ridiculous.
Nice video Erik from handball.
❤️❤️❤️
@@Cute.lil.bubbles yep for sure Erik.
I hope they make a sequel where they find a cure for Theodora.
Got bad news for ya bud lol
@@siriusvittorio2099 lmfaoooo
I wasn't talking about the original film, I was thinking about an alternative sequel to what if Dorothy saved Theodora instead of melting her.
@@savannahhague4989 Well you never said anything about that
@@siriusvittorio2099 that’s what I meant. Like there should be a multiverse for OZ. Sorry for not making it clear the first time.
I guess Theodora was the main and very inspiring character of that movie
It was a 🧹 you wanted right Wizard?
in the end of it all, Dorothy did give it to him. He probly still has the broom as a reminder of the love that he actually had for her. Only to get it taken away
Little girl : Mom can we go and see the new Wicked movie???
Mom: We got Wicked at home.
Wicked at home:
If you love the movie, you must read the book….Amazing!
The book is a masterpiece ❤️🥰💗😘
I really liked this movie as a kid
Theodora's magic came from her ruby ring. Evanoras from her emerald necklace and Glindas from her diamond sceptre.
Yes and in the future, Evanora's magic will come from the ruby slippers.
@@Cute.lil.bubbles maybe Theodora shared some of her magic ruby ring with her ally Evanora to create the ruby slippers. And that is why she wanted to get them back so badly in Wizard of Oz.
@@user-yb6tk1ru6x hm that's an interesting theory.
Mila ATE that wicked with laugh 😭
