    Just note. In order to get all 20000watts, you have to use both of the 50A outlets. That has to feed 2- double 50A breakers in a sub panel via 6awg wire. Then from sub panel you feed your main panel to a 100amp breaker via 2awg. This gets you all of the 20000 watts. Using 1- 50A outlet only gets you 12500 watts.

      If my generator has a 50A and 30A, could I do this with the corresponding 50A/30A breakers in subpanel and 80A in main?

      So what you're saying is the 12,500 powered his house. Basically, it did it with one hand behind its back. That what you're saying?

      Btw, technically, you could just feed the two 50A outlets to two 50A breakers in the main panel, but then you'd be able to mechanically backfeed power to the utilities. The way tommysteele615 describes it, since the subpanel would be feeding only 1 100A breaker, you can safely make sure that only that breaker or the main breaker is on and not both, using an interlock kit.

    Make sure you treat the fuel and turn the fuel switch off to let the generator shut down on its own. That will clear the fuel in the carburetor. Then turn off the power switch. Be blessed and a blessing Amen.

    • @0409jd
      @0409jd 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Also a good idea to let it run at idle for 10 min or so after being on a load to let it cool down, then turn off the fuel to bleed the carb.

I have planned on gettin 2 Genmax and running them in parallel. That would get me by with not much extra. But the WGen20000 would power my house and I have another 50 amp line to help others out. Thank you for all you do!

      I’m battling the same dilemma, I am worried about my electronics as I just had to replace a 75in TV that was only a few years old. I’m unsure if it was just a normal failure or caused by the few times we lost power and had back up for an extended period of time. Was just about sold on the GENMAX 9k which matches the Westinghouse I have now but been thinking of upgrading to a larger unit.

    I just got this generator delivered on Friday. I have it setup with 2, 50amp inlets--1 for each of my 2 panels. We have 2, 2.5 ton units. I don't know if I'll be trying to run both at the same time though. That 5 ton pulled her right down. Definitely a stout unit.

      @Buster Hyman Yes. I was able to power both panels and run both a/c units plus lights/ceiling fan/tv. I want to get some meters to see how much power we're using, but for all intents and purposes, it "powered my house."

      @@SouthPawEdcan you use two separate generators two power those panels

    • @SouthPawEd
      @SouthPawEd 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@brucewillis7135 This is the only portable generator that I have seen that puts out more than 50 amps, and that's only because it has 2, 50 amp outlets that put out 50 amps each. I haven't seen any portable generators that provide more than 50 amps from a single outlet, nor have I seen power cables that could handle more than 50 amps, so I don't think that I could fully-power each panel, even with 2 generators. These panels are each 100 amps, and as it is, I feed them 50 amps each. This more than powers anything that we need, short of running the washer, dryer, dishwasher, and heating systems simultaneously.

    • @SouthPawEd
      @SouthPawEd 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @brucewillis7135 I suppose if nothing on those panels overlapped, you could use 2 generators. On mine, the downstairs condensing unit is on panel A and the downstairs air handler unit is on panel B. The upstairs system is divided similarly. I was advised by my electrician to power both panels with my one generator.

    Hey Gavin, I have this gen hooked up to are house with two 50amp rv cords to run are 5ton geothermal no softstart, well pump for the geo and the frigerator. Only this i dont like about this generator is it only has an 83 amp main breaker for its distribution panel. Which is only good for 19920watts @ 240v. Each 50amp cord is only good for 12000. We can almost kill the gen out if the well and the geo turn on at the same time.

    • @SouthPawEd
      @SouthPawEd ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's why I bought this one over a true back-up generator. For $2,500, I had both of my panels wired up, so that's the only cost I'd leave at my house if/when we ever moved since the gen can come with us. Compared to sinking all that cost in a stand-by unit that would probably be left with the house during a move.

    Property 1: FL: The more I watch these videos, the more I like the idea of a generator under $800 and a $200 walmart window AC unit that runs on 110v. (im in FL so not concerned with the high KW for heating). not having natural gas on property is a huge limit locally. Property 2: I have free "dirty" natural gas - in a rural area with mining and frequent power outages for 6h-3d, at least 3 times a year. there we do have freeze warnings. Anyone else running a dirty nat. gas line off a wellhead into one of these ? what, if anything, do you put inline to filter water/etc and regulate pressure?

    I agree with you kind Sir @ time 2:43; where you said, "You don't have to do this". Which is break all the circuits \ in the panel. And it really has never been that; with the larger Generators these days.
    And even it does not need, or IF you are NO using/or turned off those users; in the large amp users. Which I feel is the best way to transfer in small Generators.
    So, for with this BIG Generator; NOTHING will happen in 99.9% of the times when you leave the circuits on. And think about this. How many times has lightning killed the power and then it comes back on. So there is NO difference. For most ALL big users; of amps; have electronic protectors; for fast on and off power.
    This is: in most ALL thermostats and/or the A/C's for many years; to protect A/C's, freezer's, Icebox's and etc! For what it's worth.

    You failed to mention the requirement to convert that generator to a floating neutral because it comes delivered as a bonded neutral generator. In order to use as a whole home generator, it must be converted. If you intend on using it with extension cords only, then the bonded neutral as delivered if fine.

      Definitely less than 5% is acceptable anything more I don’t run it. I think the 9000 will power with the soft start no problem. Just looked At this generator…
    You have two 50 amp outlets
    At 240 volts u only produce 83.33 amps continuous.
    Different AC and heat pump systems require different amperage…having two 50 amp outlets does not give you a 100 amps continuous..
    With one transfer switch and one house breaker panel ..the most continuous amps u can feed that panel is 50 amps. So extra 50 amp plug really not much good unless u run a heavy extension cord into house to plug some 220 volt appliance in to that requires less than 33.3 amps…
    The Westinghouse 15,0000/12,000 DFc Is a way more cost effective Generator..initial cost ,option run propane , and operating cost in gas run time.
    Now if they wound make this wgen20000 with one plug that you could get 83.3 amps out off be a lot more useful and practical .
