When you talk about this not putting out a pure sine wave, exactly what are you basing this on? Did you actually fry something in your house simply by using this generator as intended? What did you damage?
The typical generator such as this one has what is known as a "modified sinewave." Modified sinewave is not recommended for sensitive electrical devices. I will say that in my years of testing and inspecting generators, I have seen some modified sinewave units that produced clean enough power to operate sensitive electronics. But I have seen a lot that would not. I have two generators, one has a modified sinewave, the other is an inverter with pure sinewave. The modified will run pretty much everything I have connected it to except my Keurig coffee maker which has a digital controller. It did not damage the coffee maker, the maker simply would not power up due to "dirty Power." If you are considering a generator for home use and can afford to spring for an inverter type, that is for sure your best choice. Like the video states, more and more things in this day are controlled by sensitive electronics.
Help needed. I bought one and it wouldn't start on gasoline. Westinghouse sent me a new carb, installed and now it runs, but there's spring leftover and there's no instructions on where it goes. Manual Exploded View A, box 11, item 11.9, part #244202. Anybody know how that fits, or have a photo of the spring in place?
Finally got a photo from Westinghouse showing where that spring fits (if you find yourself in my shoes). On black stepper motor on top of the carb, there's a small stub. Spring fits between that stub and the silver prong of the upper carb housing. The hook of the spring is against the stepper, the open end fits against the prong. Hook goes under the metal flange. If I could send a photo I would. Ping me if needed. PRO TIP - tie a piece of thread to the middle of the spring before you try to fit it in place. First couple tries the spring slipped off and the thread kept it from disappearing.
During COLD weather in the Winter of 1-3-24....i tried to Test Run my Westinghouse inverter generator 10,000 watts but it didn't start 😔👎. So Complicated to Start Up
I use started mine up yesterday for the first time. I bought it 11/22 and just put the engine oil and gas in, plugged the battery charger in and it started right up.
Buy a high end RV EMS/surge protector, plug it into 50 amp or 30 amp socket, then don't worry about that sensitive electronics issue. You can also monitor volts and amp draw with these devices. Believe me, the electronics in an RV are crap quality compared to what is in your house.
Hey y'all great video. I just fired up the 7500 and hooked into my refrigerator and the generator tripped off. The reset button doesn't reset. It's brand new out of the box. Any help would be great. Having a hurricane rt now
Hopefully you worked out your problem. If you were plugging your fridge into a gfci outlet that may be your issue. Most fridges will trip a gfci outlet. I had a similar problem in my garage and the only way I could get the fridge to stay on was to put a non gfci outlet in the garage to plug it into. I’m sure someone will have a tantrum about how it’s against code. But when you lose all of your food during an outage you won’t worry about the code. Sometimes a little caution and common sense goes a long way.
I have 30 amp fuses in my breaker box as well as a 10 gauge wire. So this generator will not be a problem plugging into my 30 amp. Electrical fuse box from what I understand?
Did you tie yours into your breaker panel? I have this generator and plan to install an interlock on my panel and use a 30A double pole breaker wired to a L14-30R power inlet box. Im just not sure if neutral needs unbonded from the gen frame. Did you ever tie yours into your panel?
the run/stop switch is a weak point in the generator. Just a little bit of moister or high humidity will destroy the switch. When that switch goes bad you get some wild indicators....LOL...that switch supplies the voltage 12 volts to the system and also the ground to stop the motor. Do a search on 9500 wont start or battery light does not come on or start...
CON; what about putting oil in the reservoir? Horrible angle. I have to use a funnel with a wide plastic tube taped to it, because the refill angle is HORRID.😊
Replace the crush washer every oil change and you shouldn't have any leaks. I hear ya on the sensitive electronics. Already fried my ovens panel when the power when out last time. I didn't have a generator so maybe when the power came back on it killed it. $400 part. 🤦♂️
So, it's Better to buy an inverter Generator if One concerned about Sensitive electronics appliances..... That's Why I am checking out at this time... within my Budget.
Exactly! He shouldn't criticize the generator he bought. It works fine. If he was concerned about the generator's effect on sensitive electronics, he should have bought an inverter generator right up front. It's important to match the generator purchased with your needs or expectations.

Nice review. Crush washers on drain plugs are a one time use item. Every time you change the oil you should use a new crush washer.
Good to know, thank you
Where I get those crush washers
Although technically correct I have used the same washer multiple times without any issues over many years
What is the torque spec on the drain plug? Where can I get a magnetic drain plug and dipstick? Where can I get the crush washers?
Is there any sort of after market inverter that can be put inline?
Westinghouse in the top 5 good video learned at lot.
Thanks

Can u tell me how u managed to make it work mine does not work on gas
Con #2 is a major issue if u can’t reliably use it for sensitive appliances.
Great video thanks for the words
Crush washer is a 1 time use washer that will need to be replaced when you take out the drain plug
What pure sine wave inverter to use if your going direct to the house?
*Bringing to the top: If you connect to the house, remove the unit ground.
Generator no sine, inverter sine. Look at the dual fuel Westinghouse

Any idea what size crush washer is needed for the oil drain plug? Thank you
Sorry I don't remember. But the big take away is that the problem wasn't with the crush washer. I have another video on the channel that details this.
