    Not for long if your running it on propane. My generator ran a total of 42 hrs on propane and solenoid valve fuse kept popping. Changed fuse retried propane ran 10 secs then shut off. Changed fuse again used gas ran fine.
    Called Dromax they knew about the issue in August of 23. They did not send out any bulletins. Now I have a generator with a whole sum of 42 hrs run time. Will only burn gas. Reached out to Duromax.
    Only had a 2 yr manufacturers warranty. Bought mine in July of 22. Bought a 4 yr extended thu Asurion. Bought unit thru Amazon.
    Go to their website they are now claiming 3 years' warranty on their generators.
    So I can get parts I hope from these people, but would be very leary of what they say generators will do.
    I'm going to the State Attorney General in Texas if I don't hear back from them.

    Here waterfront in SW Florida and took a direct hit from hurricane IAN, 150+ winds sustained for 8 hours with no power for 10 days. Ran this Duromax 9000i (brilliant purchase) and it really did an amazing job powering our panel with a 30 amp plug. We have two AC units a 5 ton and a 2 ton. Elected to run only the 2 ton unit non stop with fans blowing about and honestly lived like we had power. Of course used 8 gallons of gas per day and the hot water heater Elec was something we would shutdown AC for an hour to heat up the tank (did to conserve fuel). If your concerned about hot water, just installed a Rheme heat pump hot water heater which has a run load of 100 watts, ready for the next situation here! Not to mention saving $45 per month in Elec with the new hot water heater. Obviously gas supply is a situation, got creative pumping gas out of the boat with a Tera AA Batt powered gas pump, our boat has 100+ gallon tank; newer boats are anti-syphon so if you remove the access panel for the fuel sender unit you have pumpable fuel.

      I’m just a little concerned the 9000 won’t be enough to take care of my air conditioning along with lighting/refrigerator.

    This Generator is on my short list for upgrading my home system based on your reviews of this and other units. I've noticed that this unit, the PREDATOR and other Generators in this class all have bonded neutrals. The NEC requires a floating neutral when used for home generator backup. Duromax does not recommend un-bonding the neutral from the ground. What are your thoughts.

    • @GeneratorReviews
      @GeneratorReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, Chip
      It’s pretty easy to convert it to a floating neutral. If you’re going to hook it up to your home using an inlet box it’s right about a 15 to 20 minutes DIY

    • @chip2139
      @chip2139 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GeneratorReviews I know it's easy. I've been taking things apart all my life. Duromax says not to because it's designed to work with a transfer switch. I know we are all trying to get the longest run time out of the generator during a power outage while using the central air, but are we putting too much load on the genny when it is in ECO mode and the compressor kicks on with a heavy draw. Yes keep the temp set higher to limit the cycling on and off, but during a/c use would it be better to run the generator not in ECO mode???

    • @GeneratorReviews
      @GeneratorReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This generator still idles at around 3/4 with the AC running you would be wasting gas running wide open throttle plus every time your AC cycles it will be running for nothing. Let the Gen work like it was designed for.

Then as the microaire capitors give up there charge ,in the start up phase, the electrical amps ( in line) replace the capacitor amps , to bring the requested running amps , for the heating / cooling unit. They work . I have spoken to the company techs and have one installed where I live.

      Hi Mitchell
      Once you have added your oil run it for 30 min let it cool down and change the oil, then you’ll run conventional oil 10w-30 and use it normally for 50 hours.
      Do not just let it run wasting time and gas please only use it if you have to.
      Change oil every at 50 hours 3 times, this is not a race it doesn’t matter how long it takes for break-in.
      Then at 150 - 200 hrs you can switch to 5w-30 synthetic and oil changes go to every 100 hrs.

      My licensed electrician who just installed the InterlockKit and a 50 amp inlet told me to not disconnect the neutral on the ground lug of the generator. He said that another customer of his did that on this same generator and blew out 5 GFCI's as well as a diode controlled bathroom fan in his house. He reconnected the neutral on the generator and after my electrician repaired the damage, he didn't have any further problems. My electrician explained that when the utility power is disconnected, the neutral ground at the panel is disconnected as well, so you need the neutral bonding at the generator. Just be sure to ground the generator at the generator ground lug with a grounding rod and 12 AWG wire as recommended by DuroMax for the XP900ih.

    • @GeneratorReviews
      @GeneratorReviews  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The whole idea behind Eco mode is to save fuel. There’s no reason to ever have it off.
      If you plan on running the generator at 100%, then you can turn it off but if you’re powering standard loads where it should be at least 50% of your generator total output, Eco mode should always be on.
      There’s no reason for your generator to be running wide, open throttle in a power outage situation.
      I hope this helps. Happy holidays.

      Even though the wires, plugs, breakers, etc are 30amp, they can briefly supply much higher (as in motor starts like this.). The 30amp rating is for continuous usage, heat/damage from exceeding that take time and circuit breakers are designed to allow brief excessive amps. (Starting amps are only maintained briefly, for less than a second.)
      The generator can also briefly surge above the rating (to 10k plus watts in this case).
      The soft start does make it possible, the generator wouldn't of been able to surge to 20kw (if 80amp starting) req'd for normal starting.

      @@GeneratorReviews I spoke with DuroMax and they said if I was going to use the 30A outlet and the total power used at that outlet was less than 7200W, then I could run extension cords from the other 120V duplex outlets on the generator and access the remaining capacity (i.e., up to a total of 7200W). BTW, excellent video. I have been researching this topic and this exact generator along with A/C soft start devices and using a 50A transfer switch (or interlock) to do exactly this. There is a ton of opinions online but yours is the first actual demonstration of seeing ALL the components working together! Many thanks!

    Great video Gavin. Now when you where doing the test. Was your refrigerator/ freezer on during all the test you did? I saw that your micro air working great on your ac unit. Starting at 43, I’ve been having trouble with mine since I installed the micro air. 80% of the time my start ups are at
    72 -75. I’ve been sending micro air diagnostic of the unit. They’re suppose to send me another capacitor to replace on the micro air, but they take a long time sending there parts. So far I’m not impressed with my micro air. Thanks 🙏 for the video.

      Which one did you install? The X48 or X72? I have a similar case that I sometimes see ~70amps. Most of the time it is around 40 amps. My AC unit is a new unit (2 months old) and has a scroll compressor. When I had the MicroAir on my old condenser (piston compressor), the start amps were consistently around 30 amps. My generator had no problem starting the old one with both fridges, TV, lights etc. on. I am wondering if these scroll compressors somehow affect the MicroAir? I am tempted to purchase the X72 for my 4 ton to see if this helps.

    Confused as to why it says the 240 plug is only 30amps when clearly each leg is up to 30 amp which gives you 60 potential amps… this was shown in another vid when connecting to your RV- I want to use on my houseboat that have a 240 50 amp connection -
