Great video. None of the MG4 reviews I've seen mentioned this app.. I randomly searched for it. This is such a good addition to the features this car has... From someone who despised EVs just a few weeks ago, I am close to being sold of the MG4.

Teck word to add to my brain... binding as opposed to connecting. I like these videos as it can be difficult to know what you can do, tech wise in a car, until you purchase. Dealers generally have only a limited idea but there are exceptions. Most helpful. Judging by the comments others are also interested in this type of video. They sat is coming down under in 2023, I really hope so, as I’m well keen on it. As I’m a driving instructor I have a 1000kms a week on my current Corolla, so looking at an affordable EV is a sensible business choice. Oh and BTW, we foooooking love the Irish!!!
Great clip thanks - Got the Trophy Model on order here in Suffolk- Just that it only comes with the 3 pin (Granny Cable ) Shopping around for the Type 2 at the moment for more efficient home charging.
Can you bind multiple phones/users to the car? Like for example if I have all of this set up already, could I register another user on my wife’s phone and pair that phone as well? So we would both be able to use the car with our own phones/accounts? Thanks!
Unfortunately not I believe. You can share the digital key with another user so this at least is a workaround but only 1 phone can be bound at any one time
Hi I like all your reviews you are very fair I have a mg 5 I has been a great car over the last 2 years no problem I like the mg 4 but I think I would like the all wheel drive model and the mgc the cyberster hope they will be out soon we did not get the e motion it look like it would have been a great car once again great reviews keep them coming cheers gary

Great vid. My app shows “success” when I’ve tried binding.. but nothing actually happens on my app other than showing the home screen where it still says “bind to car” so it’s not actually done anything. So frustrating. Any ideas?

Just received my mg4 today, when I charge it before I go to bed tonight can I turn the screen off in the car and lock the doors because I want to schedule it for 12.30am till 4.30am but just concerned with that screen on it would attract some un wanted attention when I’m asleep.
What if you have two drivers. Can they both be set up with the app ? If not, what happens if the main user is overseas ? Do you de-register the main user an set up the secondary driver while they are awy ? etc

Unrelated to your video really but do you have a comment on the problems with scheduled charging that many owners are reporting? I’ve tried twice to charge in the early hours of the morning but both times it has charged before midnight. Thank you.
I haven’t asked them yet. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing something wrong but other users do seem to report problems. I tried again on Thursday night scheduled to start at 01:00 but it hadn’t started at 04:30 so had to start manually. 🤷♂️

Hi I am an Apple user and my car seems to favour the android option for some reason…. I have had the car for two days and it’s still showing on the app as being in Brussels so won’t sync with my phone ☹️
Nice review. Realy hope they add the phone key like tesla nio or smart. Just walk to the car and unlock the door by opening the door by grabing the handle. Then press the brakes and its rdy to go. Hope it comes in a update :) Way better app the fiat 😅
The app is definitely not for everyone, just a personal data hog. I don't use it on my MG4 LR Trophy and I definitely do not need or use it. Pre-conditioning the battery in cold weather before charging is a great addition with the app, but I just hop into the car and do it from there. Thanks for the video though, was very informative with crystal clear instructions. But again, it's not for everyone. I hit the like button.
I bought a mg4 about 5 weeks ago and put a fronius wall pilot in my garage, I wanted to use the app for charging instead of going in the car every time to use the screen to charge the car. Are sitting in the car to start the charge process?
I think it's via the internal screen in the car. I can't remember the function on the app when I had it. I have it again next week so will let you know.

The car detects the Amperage of the cable by the size of the resistor and at 470 ohm, it activates “discharge mode”. I am certain, most people would agree that it would be nice to turn discharge on and off without getting in the car
Hi I have a 2021 mg zs ev. Am I able to use the app? When bidding ït asks to scan the QR code but I can't find this code. Is this because I purchased the car 2nd and if so, will a factory reset allow me to get the qr code
@@NevoEVReviewIreland The previous owner never did unbind his car. If that happens you won't get the connect to vehicle tag, but MG doesn't let you know that that's the issue. I had to send the MG HQ a message so they could do it remotely.
I get stuck at 3:20 - when trying to scan the first qr code with the App after registering and logging in I get the error message "Dynamic code verify failed" an the smartphone screen. Nothing seemed to work for now 😢 /Edit: doing a factory reset did the trick
@@NevoEVReviewIreland I did some research and tried again on another day and then I did a factory reset on the cars settings and then it worked like a charm 🙈 The only issue I still have is that the car looses a lot of settings on every restart like the Windowlock for the rear windows or the eco mode or energy safe toggle..
@@NevoEVReviewIreland yes that is so stupied, and they even have a USER fan in menu.. WHY. have a USER fan then only "one" can connect, it can´t be more stupied.
If 2 people in the house want to use their phones to control the car, does that mean they have to continuously bind & unbind their phone if they want to use the car ? It would be annoying to have to do so when swapping drivers.

When binding I scan the qr code and enter my pin twice then recive a service is unavailable try again later message. This keeps happening. Pretty frustrating

Its my first day with the vehicle. I took it to a public charger. Plug locked and green light activated next to it. Charger had blue light flashing. Everything seemed as if charging like vehicles next to me. After walking around shops 1.5 hrs returned to find it had not charged not even 1 percent. Then when I got home I found i had been charged £30. Not sure yet if this is the MG or chargers problem. I enjoyed driving the car but not a great first day with it. Hopefully we can bind to our phone's app soon. Best of luck!
@@MrSpencerJones I’ve had this issue before too, and definitely a charger issue. It’s very frustrating though! You’ll find different chargers within your area and learn which are the better ones (instavolt are really good). Hopefully you have a better experience with charging, and yes hopefully we can sort out this binding issue.

Then reguster and log into the app. Then manually log into the car (looked like I was but not 100% sure. I used the phone ivon not the mail icon) then hit connect vehicle on the car and then scan the second qr code on car screen right with app. After relogging into the car (not just the app) I managed to avoid the service unavilable prompt and successfully binded my car to phone.

Am I missing something here, if you purchase the car from a salesperson why doesn't the salesperson ask whether the purchaser is going to use the app and help the buyer load the app. It seems they are happy to take the commission and that is were it ends as did my salesperson. I think they call this customer service?

Type 2 is definitely a must. In Ireland the cable comes with the car. A strange decision by MG UK or your dealer

I think this is on Trophy (Luxury) model? There is also a iSmart app Lite for basic model, I'm wondering what the differences are?

Does the digital key on your phone mean that you don’t need to carry the key fob with you to get into and drive the car?
I believe so yes.
You don't need your key but you have to unlock and start the car via the app digital key section

Binding doesnt work for second hand owners. The app only works if u buy mg new
The previous owner can unbind and MG should be able to reset surely
You speak way too fast...not easy to catch up if I use your video as a direct tutorial to bind it
