- If you've been around for a couple years, you may remember I did this before. I'm tackling the same illustration with my new experience. I'm a sucker for cheap art supplies, so don't expect this to be my last time either. haha

I like how it blends in too! If the gradient for the purple, blue, and green had been more evenly used and started higher up it would've popped better with the red background. :)

You might recognize me- you’ve replied to some of my comments. I heard you hit 500,000 today!! Congratulations! I just wanted to say; thank you. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to this community. It means a lot to us! We all love how you show your ups and your downs and how you learn from your mistakes. I just love how down-to-earth you are! Also, I know you’re going thorugh a hard time right now, but it amazes everyone of how you keep on going! It seems as if you don’t care what’s gonna be at the end of the path! Now here’s gonna be my story of how I found out about you! When I was little, I used to draw a lot- it was my happy place and where I wanted to be. But I soon got away from it. And I wasn’t happy anymore.
I forgot the one thing that made me happy- art. Four years later, I was scrolling through YT recommendations when I saw- a Waffles Video. I clicked on it, and it was as if I had just won a million dollars. I won happines. And now here I am today, watching almost every single art video out there and making art I’m happy with myself, and dreaming to be a YT Artist one day. Thank you. I’m sorry if this was too long, and if you’re reading this, thanks for taking time out of you’re day to read this! 💜

I don't care if I become the next top artist, I think Crayola will always be my go to brand. Despite it's flaws it keeps me in touch with my inner child
On the off-chance that Rin sees this comment, particularly since this video is so old, or if anybody in the comments can't draw braids well, may I suggest LavenderTowne's Do This, Not That video for hair? It really helped me.

At my school, the only thing I'm allowed to bring is pencils! No joke! ^o^ For me, back to school shopping is new lipstick and nicer clothes. BTW Waffles, I love your art and I'm trying to stay in the 'Summer spirit" as much as possible because it's my favorite time of year. Can the next challenge/speedpaint/speeddraw please be summer themed? (I love the rainbow hair you did though, that's kind of summery)

Thank you for doing videos like this! I'm a total stationary/art supply lover & would prefer to use the nice, fancy supplies, but simply can't afford all of them. This just goes to show that great art can still be done with the basic supplies - if you have the skills, you can make it work with whatever you have access to. I feel that this was never really something I heard much growing up, & was quite discouraging to someone who only had access to Roseart & on a good day, Crayola. So thank you again. :)

Take this from someone who uses them there whole life ...they suck ..they are literally the cheapest and crappiest marker on the market here in Canada....but if you do want them try Amazon? Ik you can buy them on there in Canada at lest its worth a shot

I don’t understand why it’s such a need to know what she looks like! She sounds amazing and beautiful! And if she ever does a face reveal, I will still watch her no matter what she looks like. That’s what I would be nervous about if I did a face reveal. I would be nervous that people would judge me by my looks and stop watching. But, let’s be honest, who could stop watching Waffles ❤️

I started watching you a while ago, then I watched all your old and new videos, but this was the first that I watched so MEMORIES
For the braid you can draw a zigzag line getting smaller and smaller as you go down and then extend the lines and connect them with curved lines. And if you want them to be wavy then start it with the zigzag line. That’s how I do mine and it seems to work really well. Love your videos❤️❤️❤️

And because you helped me this much, I want to give an idea how you can draw braids a bit easier. I'll try to explain but my English isn't that good. It's not my native language (I'm from Germany) but I hope you can understand it anyway ^^
You should draw two parallel lines in a vertical direction. Then you should connect these two lines in the space between them with a long zigzag line till the end of both lines. Now you have the basic shape of a loosy braid and you can start to work out the details. I guess you'll understand what I meant to say. I hope this will help you!❤ and please keep drawing! With a more Toony art style, heads tend to be large taking up a little less than 3/5 of shoulder space or more, realism usually has 1/3 of the shoulder space taken up depending on age and gender of the person or character being drawn. As a reference shoulder space is the area from shoulder to shoulder and a head will be smaller than the shoulder space typically, I use it to define the proportions of characters. To be more accurate in explanation, if you ignore the neck for a moment and look at how much space the head would take up in reference to a character or person's shoulder space as if the neck wasn't there. When I first started drawing full images of characters and people the head was always really big and I still have a slight problem there but I have a more toony art style and the heads have gotten considerably smaller. I hope this helped someone.

those dixon ticonderoga pencils are my FAVORITE PENCILS!!!
Also, tip for drawing braids. Draw a zigzag that’s larger at the top and gets smaller as it gets lower. Then add the little bumps on the sides (not sure what they are actually called) That’s what I do to draw braids and I think it looks pretty good.
