Congratulations for the channel and keep up loading videos. Greetings from México 🇲🇽
Hi Tom, first of all, I would like to thank you for the variety of videos regarding this espresso-machine. Helped me a lot! I am fairly new to espresso and I have an issue, which I can only explain with my beans or the grinder of the LaSpecialista. I am using your linked basket from IMS DL2TH26E with the Delonghi standard portafilter that comes with the machine. I am using grind-level 1, which is the finest and I am using 18g of ground coffee. I use relatively fresh beans from a local roastery (100% Robusta, espresso roast C.U.L.T.D México Finca Santa Anita for anyone wondering :), I use WDT and tamp with a leveled „spring“ tamper (like a stamp). The coffee bed looks and feels good, however, I don’t reach optimal pressure and the extraction is 5 secs too fast. 35g in 20 secs. The coffee does not taste as acidic as one would think, but it’s not very good and the crema is also too thin (which is related to the lack of pressure I assume). Do you have similar experiences, where the problem is related to the bean and/or the grinding capabilities of the LaSpecialiste-grinder being insufficient in terms of fineness of the grind? Best regards from Hamburg!!
Moin, moin! Well, this machine does not grind very fine, so you might actually have to go back to the included OEM basket, which is tapered, and adds to the pressure of the extraction. But yes, also due to the very long pre-infusion, I find that this machine extracts very quickly afterwards. Maybe try the OEM basket, and see if that works better. Otherwise, you could consider the H32 basket, for a larger dose, but that's just more money to spend. Good luck!
Moin! Thanks for your fast reply! Highly appreciate it. OEM-basket works very good with the same settings and coffee and delivers almost perfect results. However, the „stamp-tamper“ can’t be used with the OEM-basket, because of the tapered form (it gets caught on the rim). That’s why I initially opted for your recommendation. The basket is perfect and I see why you recommended it, which makes me wanna use it consistently from now on. I don’t recall, if you mentioned your coffee in this video, I will try a different bean with the same settings. I think that could work, since you do it in this video, even with a smaller dose of 16g. Again, many thanks to you and have a lovely week!
Great video. Quick question. I have the same La Specialista machine, but my espresso shots do not pour out of the machine near as long as yours does. How can I make my machine espress longer?

I would like to adjust the amount of hot water to my Americano because I feel it doesn’t put enough hot water ….. so I tried to do what you did (stopping it mid cycle of the Americano) I pressed ok after the shot of espresso (you have to get it right on or else the hot water starts and you can’t control the amount) then ice I did that nothing happened., it just stopped after the espresso shot. What am I doing wrong???
Hello Tom. Thanks for the video. I have the same coffee machine, but when brewing coffee, it stops after brewing very little, whereas yours continues, and you stop it manually. Also, the "optimal zone" stays at the 45-minute position clockwise. I'm looking forward to your help. Thanks in advance!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner got my Neouza bottomless portafilter, and I have problems with not reaching the optimal zone (it barely hits 5-6 bars). It is because of their baskets are not that good and have bigger holes on them? You think IMS basket would help with this issue?

Hi, i want to buy the same basket, but when i login into the website it says there are different type of basket which one you use . 24 or 28. Hope to know thanks
Hello; I have this model coffee machine and I want to ask you about something I am curious about. Which other Delonghi model device is the portafilter in this machine compatible with? In which other models of the Delonghi family can I use the portafilter of this device?
De'Longhi La Specialista Arte can you use ese coffee pods or buy an adaptor? My old delonghi machine accepted ese pods and had a rubber seal around the pod.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Whenever I try to use my coffee machine (I have the same one, EC9155), the pressure indicator goes into the red zone and coffee barely drips. I'm grinding about 10 grams for the small basket and 12 to 15 grams for the larger basket. I've tried grinding on setting 3 (I've also tried 2 and 4) and I barely apply any force when tamping. The coffee beans are fresh (only 4 days since they were roasted). I don't have a proper distribution tool yet (I've ordered one), so I use a sewing needle to try and remove any air pockets, and I always tap the portafilter to try and evenly distribute the grounds. The machine is brand new (barely a week old), so I highly doubt I need to do a descaling cycle.
Hi, you're right! I didn't catch that while making the video. However, I weigh out the beans to make sure I have a proper dose, and I weigh my shot too, so that kind of overrides the automatic settings. Cheers!
I noticed you have to manually press stop at the desired output after pour. My machine starts pouring and stops after about 16 - 18 seconds. Am I doing different?
You can pres the ok button until it comes more quantity of coffee out , per example 100ml the release the ok button and now you have adjusted your coffee quantity to 100ml. And from now on you can pres ok button to start and one more time to stop at your disered quantity. 👍
Hi Tom, Thanks for this video. I have purchased this machine and have been using it since a week now. My issue with this is that I am following all the tips and tricks for steaming the milk but still I don’t get the desired froth in my cup of cappuccino. The milk is cold, angle is also correct, using full fat fresh milk but still the froth is not coming properly as compared to the cup of cappuccino I get outside in a cafe 😢 I hope that I can find a solution to it. Thanks
I am looking at your settings and next to OK button you have all 3 lines (how is this possible?). I have already watched all your videos, still no crema at all. I have to be honest, I did not measured the quantity... but i am about to do it.
Hi there! Those 3 bars are for the heat. I have the machine set for high temp. I made a video about the settings: th-cam.com/video/HgVQdtZ2uMM/w-d-xo.html
What a great video. I purchased a la specialista that has a pressure gauge that doesn’t work. When I called customer service, they said it’s supposed to be that way, it only works when the pump is overcompensating. $900, and they blatantly lie to me. It makes great coffee, but I want everything to work.
Thanks Tom, this was very informative! Also The La Specialista i purchased is metal, not plastic. It was about $200 more than the previous version. Next stop is your milk steaming episode! I have so much to learn.
Hi there! I'm learning (slowly but surely) how to get my espresso right with my new machine (the one that you present). I have coffee ground in my espresso shot and I don't understand why... I've try to change the grinding setting, but it doesn't help that much... What can you suggest? do you have a video for that? I didn't seem to find one! :O

Do I use 8g instead of 16g for a single espresso? I mean with the smaller filter basket, no matter with the orignial delivered one or some other rebuyed... Because in the video all was made by x2. So this are all doubled expressos, right? And is it normal that the extraction time is shorter while making single espresso? I guess it is so... around 10 sec.? Also instead of 20-25 sec. Thanks for your help
Yes, try 8-10 grams for a single, and grind a little finer. Puck prep is key here. They tend to run faster, too. Yes, I always do a double, but this is an industry standard, except in Italy.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thanks, since i have that Single Delonghi, i don’t know if the upgrade worth it. Does it has any problems after months of usage? Thanks again
I start the timer when the extraction starts, as that is when the process begins. The puck first needs to get saturated, and succumb to the incoming pressure before it starts dripping. That is part of the process.
Hi Tom, just asking , when im extracting the ground beans on porta, aside from the coffee i saw water coming out as well, is it normal or is has something to do with the settings, thanks
This might happen if you don't have a great seal between the portafilter and gasket. Make sure your basket rim is free of debris, and check your gasket to make sure it's clean.
Hi Tom, could you help me out, or some other watcher?! I am using the same bean and roast as my favourite coffee shop. When I brew in this brewer the coffee is to acidic and I get a heart burn. Could you advise me on settings. I am trying coarser and lower temperature but can’t fix it.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Thanks ! Tried steaming milk with the arte today but i failed miserably :( Do you have a longer video for steaming milk? Maybe i just need to give it more practice.
How do I control the amount of coffee that come out. I press 'ok' but it then automatically stops at a level which isn't suitable for my needs and taste
Hi Tom... I recently bought la specialista Arte.. And it doesn't grind the coffee.. How can I remove the grinder to clean it.. I vacuumed it but still not grinding

Thank you for this informative video. Could you please share your thoughts on the quality of the grinder in this machine? I’m hesitating between Dedica Arte plus separate grinder and Specialista Arte.
Thank You for the demonstration. It's very helpful. One question: How to get the optimal range of pressure right? My machine is going a bit past that range so im worried that i have something set wrong... Please help. Thank You kindly.
You use setting “x2” for one cup. Why? What does it change? The amount of the water, or the amount of the grinded beans? Please explain it to me. Thank you!
hello Tom. thank you for the video. I noticed you manually stop the coffee extraction. my machine usually stops itself much faster than in this video when making an espresso. Is this due to some settings of the machine?
Hi Seal! Well, you can program the volume on this machine, but if the shot is running too fast, then you will need to adjust your grind finer. I made a video about that too. th-cam.com/video/2_J3GiDttWQ/w-d-xo.html
Hi Tom, I’ve been trying different combos with this machine but the pressure never gets to optimum level and it’s under extracted with no crema. Any suggestions?

I did a ton of research on a lot of machines. I kept coming back to this one. What I did not see though were the MANY negative review regarding the air pump. I had purchased this as a Christmas gift for myself that was also supposed to double as our Christmas Eve party coffee maker for all of my family members. Upon opening I was very excited, it has a sleek design and it perfect for ease and user functionality.. or so I thought. HOURS. We spent hours of time trying to get this to work. Our first issue was us not being able to flush the system. Which this issue was NEVER addressed as a warning within the manual. After many TH-cam videos and some creative wording we found it. It like many other of these machines has an air pump issue. The correct verbiage is “air lock” we tried everything and nothing works. Unfortunately all of the techs were closed for the Holidays so we have a $800 machine sitting as a massive decor item yet useless. We also had issues with the grinder working although it might have just also been due to us never being able to flush the system because it appears once you do that the other functions work or are supposed to. Needless to say I am ANNOYED. I will wait until Monday and be optimistic but I already have a Terra Kaffee automatic espresso maker in my cart on standby for when I dissapointingly might have to return this machine.
Hi there! Well, all espresso machines need to have their systems primed, if they are new, or been sitting too long. The best way to do this typically, is to let hot water out of the spigot, or the steam wand, depending on the machine. No matter which machine you choose, I hope you find your satisfaction, and some good coffee! Cheers, Tom
I just got one of these in the US and the first thing stated in the quick start guide is to run water through all 3 water outlets. This probably should be under a READ THIS BEFORE USE type pamphlet though. This is my 2nd espresso machine so I knew to look for it going in.
Tom, many thanks for your beautiful video. One question about Lungo. How do you dial the machine to produce 45g of Lungo. I got 1:2 ratio on my DeLongi Arte Evo. Do you reprogram it? Thank you.
Well, you can just hold the button down, until your desired amount is reached. I normally program the buttons on my machines to let out a lot of liquid, and stop myself, when the desired volume has been reached. That way, I can stop for a ristretto, espresso, lungo, or turbo shot.
But is the grinder easy to clean? Otherwise some tiny amounts of old ground coffee will accumulate in the grinding mechanism and become rancid, and affect the taste of the ground coffee.
Hey Tom! I just bought this machine and am having trouble... no matter what I change I'm getting a soaked puck and water backing up int the machine.... and then all over the counter... what am I doing wrong?
What pressure does your manometer say? Maybe the grind is too fine? Even so, the machine should stop pumping automatically if the pressure gets too high. How often do you empty the drip tray?
I’m guessing that your beans are probably too old - or in other words roasted too long ago. It could also be that your grinder is not ideal for espresso. Hi Tom. I have the same machine but I’m not planning on using the bean grinder that’s attached to it. Instead I bought the Baratza Sette 30 AP Espresso Grinder. I wanted to know how many grams of beans and what would be the perfect grind setting from the Baratza Sette 30. Thank you and your reply is much appreciated.
Hi there! Well, you have to find the grind setting yourself. I'd start with 16 grams, and grind fine enough to get 32 grams out, in 25-30 seconds, as a ballpark figure.
Podrías hacer un vídeo de la arte con el portafiltro de serie, el que viene en la cafetera al comprarla. Un expreso y un café con leche grande. Gracias
Thanks for the idea! I guess I should have used the original portafilter, but I just like using the bottomless. I will likely do a video in the future with the stock PF again. Cheers!
Just got this machine, thank you so much for the vid, its helped alot with making my husband's coffee drinks, so now comes the questions 😀 Why did you pour your milk from one jug to the next making the cappuccino? Why does my coffee puck get stuck to the top of the machine when I remove the portafilter? And I am truly struggling to make my coffee which is decaf (prior heart issues) taste good, I can not find even a happy medium using Lavazza Decaf Dark Espresso Roast Whole Bean Coffee. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Iv almost used the while bag in a week trying to figure it out and dont want to settle for a so so flavor.
I find that decaf is harder to dial in, and often it's quite old, as it sits on the counter for months. I'd check the side of the bag for the date. I pour from one jug to the other, to incorporate the milk better. Sometimes the puck gets stuck for me, too. It doesn't bother me. Cheers!

My machine does not build pressure and comes out watery. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much, but It would be better if you explained all your controls status.
Hi, i want to buy the same basket, but when i login into the website it says there are different type of basket which one you use . 24 or 28. Hope to know thanks
Why my coffe maker makes only couple of drops of a coffee? Why can’t I adjust the volume ?
Hi!
How to make it it that foamy with espresso? What was the number you set for dose level?
Hello; I have this model coffee machine and I want to ask you about something I am curious about. Which other Delonghi model device is the portafilter in this machine compatible with? In which other models of the Delonghi family can I use the portafilter of this device?
Wish you also did a flat white, my favourite drink
Love your video we going buy this when it’s back in stock keep up the good work. 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
The WDT distribution tool makes all the difference in the world.
On 0:24 the button was set for double espresso. Did you make all the drinks with one shot or with a double.
😊 I got this machine because of your review, very informative 👍
Glad it was helpful! Enjoy making espresso drinks! Tom
Hi Tom,
Thanks for this video. I have purchased this machine and have been using it since a week now.
My issue with this is that I am following all the tips and tricks for steaming the milk but still I don’t get the desired froth in my cup of cappuccino.
The milk is cold, angle is also correct, using full fat fresh milk but still the froth is not coming properly as compared to the cup of cappuccino I get outside in a cafe 😢
I hope that I can find a solution to it.
I don’t get very much liquid with my espresso setting and small coffee grain holder
You are awesome. I love watching yours movies 💪 Good job!
Thanks for that, Marcin! And thanks for watching! Tom
It is reccomended for small business?
Great Video Thank you
You betcha, thanks for watching!
Exceptional video, very explanatory, and informative.
Thank you kindly! And thanks for watching and commenting! Tom
Hi! i am considering buying this machine but can't find reviews talking about a long term ownership experience, anyone please?? thank you
What a great video. I purchased a la specialista that has a pressure gauge that doesn’t work. When I called customer service, they said it’s supposed to be that way, it only works when the pump is overcompensating. $900, and they blatantly lie to me. It makes great coffee, but I want everything to work.
Did the needle possibly get stuck on the gauge? Glad you like the machine otherwise. Good luck!
Thanks Tom, this was very informative! Also The La Specialista i purchased is metal, not plastic. It was about $200 more than the previous version. Next stop is your milk steaming episode! I have so much to learn.
Which model did you buy? delonghi la ec9255m?
Hi Tom , I have a question if I make my coffe the pressure never gets up. And I don’t know if I do something wrong or my machine is broken. Please help me

Do i need to press on the temperature button everytime i want to make the coffee?
Nope, it remembers the last selection.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thanks, since i have that Single Delonghi, i don’t know if the upgrade worth it. Does it has any problems after months of usage? Thanks again
When do you start the timer ? When the first drop comes to the cup or before ?
I start the timer when the extraction starts, as that is when the process begins. The puck first needs to get saturated, and succumb to the incoming pressure before it starts dripping. That is part of the process.
This video is phenomenal. Thank you.
Awesome, glad you liked it! Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner btw this is the new la specialista arte, i reckon this is sealed as would be, thanks
Well, if it's acidic, try using the hottest temperature. Try also grinding finer, as this machine doesn't grind super fine anyway. Good luck!
Love your work Tom!
Thanks so much! ☕️ Tom
Does the Arte have a cup warmer? My machine arrived however i didn't really notice the top of the machine being warm, is there a setting?
No, I am afraid not. But most machines in this price segment don't have an active warmer. :(
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Thanks !
Tried steaming milk with the arte today but i failed miserably :(
Do you have a longer video for steaming milk? Maybe i just need to give it more practice.
How do I control the amount of coffee that come out.
I press 'ok' but it then automatically stops at a level which isn't suitable for my needs and taste
Press and hold the OK button to program to a different volume. Cheers! Here's a video on it: th-cam.com/video/HgVQdtZ2uMM/w-d-xo.html

Hi Tom... I recently bought la specialista Arte.. And it doesn't grind the coffee.. How can I remove the grinder to clean it.. I vacuumed it but still not grinding
Hi there! I show how to do it here: th-cam.com/video/Nqwr1eMrKg8/w-d-xo.html
Did the grinder ever work? Is it jammed with beans? Are you sure you are reaching the button to engage the grinder?
Yes it was working. I reached your video about cleaning the burr and I did it.. And finally it worked... Thanks alot
You could just coarsen the grind, or dose less. Please have a look at my other La Specialista videos.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Will try it in the morning again.
Thank You for your reply.
You use setting “x2” for one cup. Why? What does it change? The amount of the water, or the amount of the grinded beans? Please explain it to me. Thank you!
It grinds more. I just always do doubles, to be honest. Cheers!
hello Tom. thank you for the video.
Love this video. Thanks for your advice
Awesome! Glad you liked it, and thanks for watching!

Wait, how did you get the Lungo to keep going and dispense 45 grams instead of the regular 30? Thanks!
I program the button to be way over, and then stop the extraction when ever I want. I monitor the weight.
What coffee beans been used in this video
But is the grinder easy to clean?
Otherwise some tiny amounts of old ground coffee will accumulate in the grinding mechanism and become rancid, and affect the taste of the ground coffee.
Nope, it's not easy. You have to take the machine apart to get to the grinder. Cheers!
I bought this machine and I'm new to it. Why my espresso is not so creamy?
I’m guessing that your beans are probably too old - or in other words roasted too long ago.
It could also be that your grinder is not ideal for espresso.

Hi Tom. I have the same machine but I’m not planning on using the bean grinder that’s attached to it. Instead I bought the Baratza Sette 30 AP Espresso Grinder. I wanted to know how many grams of beans and what would be the perfect grind setting from the Baratza Sette 30. Thank you and your reply is much appreciated.
Hi there! Well, you have to find the grind setting yourself. I'd start with 16 grams, and grind fine enough to get 32 grams out, in 25-30 seconds, as a ballpark figure.
as far as i know, capuchino is a doulble expresso, with milk foam on top served in a tall cup. the one you call capuchino is a latte
I find it's semantics, and local preferences. What you describe is a traditional cappuccino, but most people want it creamier, like a latte.
Cheers!

i can’t get to the potimal zone what can i do
Just got this machine, thank you so much for the vid, its helped alot with making my husband's coffee drinks, so now comes the questions 😀 Why did you pour your milk from one jug to the next making the cappuccino?
Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thank you for your response.
OK, another crazy question 😅 Iv no clue what the dose knob actually does or how it works. Would you mind explaining? Thanks in advance 😊
