I really hope you guys decide to watch the others, Halloween Town High is my personal favorite but the others are really good too. Oddly enough Halloween Town and Twitches have withstood the test of time for me.
Also I’m pretty sure Sophia seems so powerful in this cuz when you’re a kid, that’s when you pick up things the most and faster, literally sponges, so you gotta train them at that age
I identified with Marnie so hard as a kid. The younger brother and sister, the overprotective single mom, the interests. I know it's just a silly DCOM but "The truth is, there's nothing special about me" and then the same voiceover later where her courage saved the day is one of my earliest examples of a piece of media seeing me and empowering me, love it so much to this day. 🎃♥
The second one is my fav... because it visualize time travel for the first time for me in a cool timeline/portal way. And also sick ass halloween party gone feral for the villain's plot. Was definitely my favorite moment there.
As a kid i sided with marnie but as an adult I understand the mom more. Think about it, ain’t no way Granny got the time to raise 3 kids fighting evil and running around. Mom moving there with 3 kids would only make raising them more dangerous and difficult especially considering their last name is well known. The only thing I definitively disagree with is lying to them to lose their powers.
I tend to only focus on how outrageous her lying is but absolutely, it was none of her concern when she'd washed her hands of it a decade and a half ago. The part about not allowing them to visit makes complete sense. But I wouldn't go as far as "understanding Gwen" because she knows it would mean the world to her daughter to discover this and start training and just doesn't care, her values are all that matters. Beyond selfish. If it was me and I found out later I lost my powers? No contact forever.
@@bespectacledheroine7292I feel like a good compromise would’ve been stay in human world and train and then you can celebrate Halloween and visit your roots at 18. Cuz literally the second they stepped foot into Halloween town an evil warrlock was plotting on them.

@@lilypaxd but the question is, did she even know there was an evil warlock? She left to be with a human and rejected all magic because she wanted to be human, not to escape the evil warlock. She has no idea about that. The only reason she has for blocking her kids from learning magic and about their heritage is because it goes against her principles. It would be like if someone moved to America from China, and kept their Chinese heritage from their kids. Their grandparents still live in China and they are allowed to visit the kids, but the mother never let the kids go to China because she didn’t want them to fall in love with the country and move there. One day the kids go to China and then find out there is an evil gang living there. The evil gang being there doesn’t then make the mother’s concerns valid, because the concerns weren’t about them being in danger from the gang. The mothers only concerns were that they were going to love the place she disliked and not follow her values. It is a completely selfish perspective. Just because there’s a danger that doesn’t then validate her argument. She is still choosing her own desires and comfort over the wants and desires of the children. Nah. The mom is outrageous. Being older made me realize even more how much of a scumbag she was😂 why r u taking away ur kids possibilities without even asking them, or bringing it up. That’s how ya make ur kids hate yiu
I watched all the halloweentown movies growing up and even though some were just bad they were fun to laugh at! It has kind of become my little tradition to watch all of them every year. I guess this year I'll be watching them along with you guys! 2:10 as a kid I lived on a street that had many superstitious people and so my family always had to make sure our black cats were in the house. They would give me dirty looks playing with him outside but halloween really brought out the worst of those people.
I absolutely love these movies! The 1st and 2nd ones are the better ones out of all 4 in my opinion, but I have to say the 2nd one is the best out of all of em, as a kid I loved the Halloween feel and it even gave a great creepy feel for back then. It did a great job 👍 I definitely love the 2nd one, you guys will enjoy it!!! 🤩🤩🤩 And you should DEFINITELY watch Twitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah 1 and 2 are great. But the second movie looks like the budget had been reduced because the town square is smaller and closed off. Not like in the first movie in where it is more opened.
I think I am the only one who doesn't think Halloweentown 2 is that great. For me, I would only watch it for A) the quartet and B) the added lore. Otherwise, it is meh.
Children still have open minds, it's no surprise Sophie has such strong powers when she's still imaginative/hasn't been as influenced versus Marnie, who is older and with a mom that clearly shut down any talk about magic/being different/weird. Marnie's lost touch with her own magic after internalizing her mom's messages about being normal (which is exactly what her mom wanted) so it's harder for her to connect with her magic. Sophie is what Marnie WAS as a child before her mom's indoctrination succeeding (the mom admits Marnie had powers to as a child but Marnie clearly can't remember/do it anymore). Even after all these years this movie is still such a fantasy wish I want to come true haha, so glad you guys watched it and liked it!
"Shut up, Minkus" has me rolling at the office! 😂 another throwback! oh, man, I might have to use that on my cousin when he gets all "Well, actually...." Def not the same actor as Minkus but he sure could have played that role perfectly!
The actress that plays Marnie in this film, Kimberly J. Brown, is in part 1, 2, and 3 and then is one of the only ones recast in part 4. She never comes back to play Marnie. Halloweentown 4 is the final of the series
I think you should watch all of the Halloween town movies. As someone who grew up with them, yes they are kind of cheesy but they are still worth a watch. Especially the last one, where they go to college. It explains the whole Cromwell thing for you guys.
It's definitely worth watching the whole series of Halloweentown. I'd say each movie after gets better than the previous except the fourth one when they replace Marty's actress.
In all my years I never knew there was a 4th Halloweentown movie. I remember enjoying the second and third movies, but its also been at least a decade since I've seen them.
If you haven’t watched the fourth movie, I recommend you don’t, I’ve seen it and honestly it’s not all that great. Only three original cast members were in it.
Halloweentown was my jam back in the day! The last two movies in the franchise fall short but the first two are Halloween bangers! They're on my yearly rewatch for Halloween.... love these movies, wish they were books with expanded stories. I'd love more history on their family.
This…. Is my CHILDHOOD AHHHHHHH✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ this film and halloweentown 2 Calabar’s revenge were my Harry Potter before Harry Potter. By the time I knew Voldemort and Tom riddle it was bc of these films I felt nostalgia already for those characters 😂
41:52 omg, this scene used to scare the crap out of me as a kid! Debbie's voice when she's saying "Go" and then convincingly dulling her eyes to look almost dead... used to put chills down my spine.
You guys also HAVE to do other Disney channel movies like Moms Got A Date With A Vampire, Don’t Look Under The Bed, Phantom Of The Megaplex (which has Mickey Rooney!)
There's 4 movies: Halloweentown Halloweentown 2: Calabar's Revenge Halloweentown High And Halloweentown 4: Return to Halloweentown Return to Halloweentown is the one where Marnie is replaced by a different actress as she was about 25-30 at the time. And it takes place when Marnie is in college.
Kimberly was only 22 when the 4th movie came out and Sara was 18. Kimberly has also said she wanted to do the 4th movie but agents and Disney couldn’t come to an agreement
@@kylevogel8973 Gotcha. When I was younger I had just heard that she was too old for the role. (At least, as far as Disney was concerned.) I'm so glad you guys enjoyed the movie because of the campiness. I've seen some reaction channels completely shitting on the movie for the exact same reasons and it honestly makes my inner child die a little inside. Like it's a campy, cheesy movie with some bad CGI but it's a 90s Disney Channel movie so I don't expect high budget or masterpiece performances. It's still a fun movie to watch. I think you guys will like the sequels. The second movie is my personal favorite and it's also Kimberly J Brown's as well. (She plays Marnie) I am still salty about the actress change for the 4th movie though especially since Kim has stated that she was available and willing!
I wonder if youll see the other three sequels. Halloweentown 2 Halloweentown High Return to Halloweentown Though if you dont another fun disney halloween movie is Twitches
So apparently every Halloween or every October somewhere in Oregon puts up the Halloween Town pumpkin and I think it was where they actually filmed the halloweentown movie. I don't know where exactly I need to figure it out so I can go take a picture trying to reach into the pumpkin and grab the light thing.
The *Actual Halloweentown is about 1 hour away from where I live and they alway do the annual "Spirit of Halloweentown" festival, which was cool when I was a kid, but now it's too overcrowded to be any fun🤷🏽♂
Can you guys please watch all 4 of these. The third one is great, and people talk about about the 4th one because Marny was re-cast but Sarah Paxton got the part and she’s amazing and the story is so fun. Highly recommend.
1-3 has regular Marnie(Kimberly J. Brown) . 4 is Sara Paxton(Aquamarine). According to regular Marnie, Disney didn't even ask her to reprise her role. They should've. I watch all the movies but I wish they'd kept OG Marnie.
Halloweentown, Halloweentown 2 Kalabar’s revenge, Halloweentown high, return to halloweentown. You guys should watch the other three. The last one has a different actress for Marnie. I think you all will like them.
I don't remember if they change it in the next movie but I honestly thought Calabar killed the dad as well out of jealousy. Wow, the fact that he had nothing to do with that and was just upset he got passed over is hilariously sad😂
So glad y'all watched this! It's my yearly Halloween tradition to watch at least this first one, then get to the sequels. I watched each one as they premiered on Disney Channel and it was always fun for me and my sister😊 Then, of course, Hocus Pocus to top it all off! 😊
Please do some more DCOM for Halloween! They have some really choice ones honestly. Under Wraps, Don't Look Under The Bed, the other Halloweentown movies, etc. I think y'all would get a kick out of em!
Props for the izombie plug. One of my favorite shows of all time! Its written by the creator of Veronica Mars so if you like Veronica you'll love izombie
Yo now this is a blast from the past I've always watched this on Disney every October. The theme song always hit me with some nostalgia I remember watching this on my family's old TV in living room while eating dinner that for some reason it was always rice o Roni and fried chicken on the same day this movie plays i don't know why or how. But still very good Halloween theme movie.
The term warlock isn’t used to describe a male witch, warlock is actually a negative term for someone who has betrayed the coven and other witches. A male witch is just called a witch.
Never heard of it. Thought you were watching Halloween 2 at first and it was about the 3rd time looking at the title I could finally see past the visual illusion of it sharing the same damn Pumpkin picture in the thumbnail. My expectations cannot be lower... lets see if they are cleared or not.
I never forgave the mom in this movie. She's like, "My kids could get magic powers. Better make sure that never happens." To this day, that's what I remember the most. Boils my blood. 😠
When I was a kid I watched this thinking about how cool it would be to have magic Now I watch this thinking about the implications of having magic in the real world
Love this series that even now i watch it kn my own evey October on Disney+!! I Inpatiently waited for the premiere of each new one when they came out!! ❤
Is it just me or is it weird to have what appears to be just a normal dog in Halloweentown. There doesn't seem to be any normal animals at all in Halloweentown except that one random dog.
As someone who grew up with these movies I adore them all but I would have to say my favorites were 2 and 3. I think I liked that those movies were more spent dealing with the magic and stuff instead of 1 and kinda 4 where we are just introduced to magic stuff for a lot of the movie.
Halloweentown 2, 3. Sara Paxton as Marnie Piper, an 18-year-old witch. She was portrayed by Kimberly J. Brown in the previous films. Paxton also portrays a younger version of Debbie Reynolds' character... Sophie Yes 1-3, 4 No
I freakin LOVED this movie and all of the other Halloween town movies after EXCEPT for the 4th where Disney switched marnies actor. Alot of ppl were outraged by that. And sophie is actually the most powerful throughout the movies
i have deja vu all the time, but im actually not surprised because ive been told that i have psyhic abilities, same as my mom. youre allowed to believe what you want but Ive been having deja vu since i was a child and it has become more visually clear as ive gotten older. Before it was just brief flashes of a moment, but now it is full on events playing out. My mom also has psyhic abilities and i believe it. I remember the first time i got my period (this might be a little tmi but oh well😭) i was a late bloomer and it was the summer before 8th grade. i had a few blotting incidences that happened while i was literally away from my mom in another state for track championships, and when I called her, she somehow knew. and then one day when i was home, my mom came into the house from the grocery store and the first thing she said to me when she walked into the door was "did your period come?" and at first i said no, but then i went into the bathroom like 5 minutes later and discovered that it did actually come. She said she went to the store and got me pads, tampons, and a chocolate cheesecake bite for the cravings. I still didn't know how she knew until she told me she had psychic abilities
53:56 the first three has her as Marnie and the fourth one has Sara Paxton as Marnie. There’s no reason disclosed why they replaced her cause this actress was available. They almost recast Debbie Reynolds also cause of scheduling conflict but she became available. The other three are worth watching as well.
I love Grandma Agatha Cause I wanted to be her when I become a grandparent Lol also there's 4 theres the Classic og here, the 2nd is Halloweentown 2 calaburs revenge, Halloweentown high then it's return to Halloweentown which is the one with the Replaced marni actress which I never knew until My moms friend pointed it out literally Disney on TH-cam is having a marathon on these movies and if you look at the thumbnail you can literally tell Lol
I didn’t know this show existed but know I believe it’s my favorite Halloween movie series that Disney has made after watching this I binged all of the movies including this one on the Disney Channel account on TH-cam and I want you to react to the other three because they were all so amazing and overall a great movie franchise
7:53, i have a black hooded cloak and i absolutely love it. However i have cats and it holds fur. Horrid combination. I think thats why witches wear black and have cats. Because if you werent just covered in cat hair back then, you had to be a witch. 😂
I watched all the Halloweentown movies but I think most people agree that that the first two are the best. Not to spoil anything, but the last 2 movies show very little of the parts of Halloweentown that were built up by the first 2 movies. Also *spoiler* we see very little of Sophie moving forward, they just mention that she's training or she's in the background so it's kinda weird how much they build up how powerful she is in this movie
All four movies are great in my opinion. They were my childhood. I really liked the 2nd and 4th one. The 4th one probably would've been my favorite if they didn't replace Marnie. And maybe a couple other things but I don't wanna spoil. And nothing against the new actress I just preferred the old one. I thought the storyline was pretty cool tho. You guys should definitely watch them all. They get better as they go on. I feel like from 1 to 2 is a huge step up.

The first 3 movies have Kimberly J. Brown as Marnie. She was replaced in the 4th movie.
The term warlock isn’t used to describe a male witch, warlock is actually a negative term for someone who has betrayed the coven and other witches. A male witch is just called a witch.
The Cromwells are probably related to Merlin
Loved Luck of the Irish, The Other Me is another obscure movie I rm from that era.
Keep this Disney marathon going. I know Luke comes back in the second movie.
Better make sure that never happens."
To this day, that's what I remember the most. Boils my blood. 😠
When I was a kid I watched this thinking about how cool it would be to have magic
Now I watch this thinking about the implications of having magic in the real world
One of my favorite Disney channel movies that was a family tradition to watch. The first three movies I love but the 4th is so so.
shit, I'm gonna be muttering "Stalked by Candybar" and laughing my ass off randomly through the week aren't I? that's god damn hilarious.
Halloweentown 2 is the best in my opinion. The plot for 2 & 3 felt a little darker at the time for a Disney Channel movie when I was a kid.
I recently went through a disney channel rabit hole and saw a bunch of these disney channel originals a few weeks back
The Halloweentown movies stream 24/7 for free on youtube during this time every year if u ever want to just watch them 👀
I used the cabbies jokes during trick or treating, half the time got me extra candy for cute points
Love this series that even now i watch it kn my own evey October on Disney+!! I Inpatiently waited for the premiere of each new one when they came out!! ❤
im pretty sure theres a movie with sophie as the MC
Is it just me or is it weird to have what appears to be just a normal dog in Halloweentown. There doesn't seem to be any normal animals at all in Halloweentown except that one random dog.
Yeah bro! We gotta bring cloaks/capes back into fashion NOW
As someone who grew up with these movies I adore them all but I would have to say my favorites were 2 and 3.
Sophie Yes 1-3, 4 No
If this is a must watch then yall better be watching Scary God Mother later this month
The Grandma is famous for being the voice of Charlottes Web Spider In the cartoon classic
I freakin LOVED this movie and all of the other Halloween town movies after EXCEPT for the 4th where Disney switched marnies actor. Alot of ppl were outraged by that. And sophie is actually the most powerful throughout the movies
I wondering if The Nightmare before Christmas Halloween Town inspired this Halloween Town.
This is one of my favorite movies as a kid it is amazing the rest are a must watch
I always assumed their dad got sick and the mom couldn’t use her magic to heal him, I believe that’s why she resented magic. This just my theory.
First of all… y’all had me laughing this whole damn reaction 😂
i have deja vu all the time, but im actually not surprised because ive been told that i have psyhic abilities, same as my mom. youre allowed to believe what you want but Ive been having deja vu since i was a child and it has become more visually clear as ive gotten older.
Bro Minkus is the literal walking nerd emoji🤓🤓
Halloweentown high was my favorite and you should absolutely do twitches lol it’s cheesy but very good.
Wait until they find out the second movie's called Kalabar's Revenge
After the Pokémon movies are u gonna do the actual show?
40:21 This dude scared me as a kid 😅
Also the 2nd is the best you'll love it
I'd love a theatrical remake or a Disney+ sequel set in this world. I loved how RTH fleshed out the world more--even if it felt human-esque.
I didn’t know this show existed but know I believe it’s my favorite Halloween movie series that Disney has made after watching this I binged all of the movies including this one on the Disney Channel account on TH-cam and I want you to react to the other three because they were all so amazing and overall a great movie franchise
Rip Debbie Reynolds 1932-2016
You guys need to react to the Hanna-Barbera Halloween tv special "The Last Halloween". To this day, it remains a special part of my childhood! 😁👍
twitches needs to be watched!!
Y'all should watch The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy!
I loved this as a kid, but watch all of it is still a must.
