- One of the biggest complaints from the Ashes of Creation haters tends to be people asking why development is taking so long. Well, there are a lot of details that few are aware of as to why it has taken so long. MMOs...take time. You just normally are not aware of how long they take because most MMOs are developed in secret.

But from what I can see and what they’ve announced and shown time and time again, it’s been pretty easy to put the faith in them and just be patient when they’ve acted in good faith as far as I can tell 100% of the time and intend on giving us the best product they can

The game came out too fast its not done yet.....ITS TAKING TOO LONG I WANT IT NOOOOOW. Gamers never seem to be happy. Hope they take the time they need, and release it when its ready. It will be great if they do that.

people always forget that it should be way easier and faster to do anything, the engines are 5000000 times better than 20 years ago, still games take longer and lets be honest most have even less content/quality.
Yeah people forget how buggy and bad launches the early MMOs had. It is unfortunate that MMOs take even longer to develop now than they did, wish it had become more streamlined. Hoping AI will help with the graphics models since that is what added a bit of extra overhead costs and time.

For people who understand Development, you're not saying anything we dont already know, I dont really care either way as this game probably wont appeal to me, But if i was to give ammunition to the people who are complaining about how long this Developer is taking it would not be about release but more about the systems they brag about, even 3 years in if you're charitable 5 years if you're going off their own timeline, They have yes to show how they think these systems are going to work at scale, how they're going to avoid pitfalls of gamers who tend to abuse every loop hole they can find, Infact all of the systems and player control elements are far far far more important to show and progress on than the recent combat animations, Animations are basic, other MMOs add new animations ever 1 - 2 years, this is not the important part of their MMO, so if i was actually invested in this game, i would be asking for a hell of a lot more of the player run stuff than they have deemed to talk about let alone show. This should be a concern, worst case scenario you're going to get a MMO launch with expected combat expected open world, expected questing, but the things that this MMO brags about will be under cooked or under served.
I'm happy to be wrong btw, if their next Alpha includes thorough testing by actual players of the player run systems at ALL levels, including the progression and destruction of said systems, I will say they're on good pace, if not, I will warn all AoC hype beasts, to be prepared for this game to launch without the complex systems at all, if it launches.
It's got a long ways to go, but I still think the base is good and the concepts are good. It could fail, that is totally possible for sure.
@@RyveGenesis I think it will be fine if it launches with okay combat and okay content to keep people busy, But i think the people who are looking forward to this game need to start demanding the Player run content be shown and tested so the game doesnt launch with bad systems to abuse or flat out things that just dont work in an MMO that we "hope for" sometimes our ideas sound magical including Steven, but they just dont work once they're in players hands or they fundamentally change what ppl thought the game would be and you end up alienating a lot of people.

They worked on an MMO from 2016-2018 then started again in 2020
Sadly I think they are running out of time/money. Sincerely hope I'm not right 😢. With guild wars 3 in development hoping they will kick up a gear and get it released asap
I think if they were running out of money they wouldn't have stopped selling the pre order packs. But, I agree they can't be in development forever
People are so impatient because they have nothing better to do. Ashes went from a super small studio and now have like 200 staff members. Since they started hiring the game has progressed amazingly to the point where its not hard to believe that many systems and biomes are completed just not polished. Because they dont just showcase everything to date the haters take that as "this is all they have completed. A few classes, and a riverlands biome in 8 years". They see that goblin that was bugged out and spinning like a ball in place and apply that to everything. Huffing that hatium when they could be drowning in copium
I think the fact they used Kickstarter, sold $250 supporter packs makes them think they constantly need to update people about their progress, and the more they do that, the more people expect them to do that xD its a vicious cycle at the moment. I wouldn't mind them to go silent for 6+ months and just let them cook. Also at this point no fucking game, as good as it could be, could live up to the hype they've created themselves.

Compared to what we get with MMO releases today, yes. Was barely one raid, only a few dungeons and no real PVP. You might be thinking of WOW classic which is the final patch of Vanilla, not patch 1.0
@@RyveGenesis maybe we remember it differently, but wow lauched with like 20 dungeons and 5 raids. Yes some of the raids were smaller, and some of the dungeons were multi-wing - but it was still massive compared to modern day mmo launches.
@@RyveGenesis AND i have this feeling when you say modern MMO launches you are most likely talking about korean games that have been running for 1+years in other regions waiting to be ported like Lost Ark and Throne and Liberty as examples of large amounts of content on launch. Considder a big western MMO to be something like New World, that launched with 6 dungeons, 4 of those that didnt have end bosses just a slightly harder mob i think this is a fair reflection on modern day mmo's.
@@Fenlock56 WOW launched with MC and Onyxia as raids. Onyxia wasn't much of a raid. Unless you are considering UBRS/LBRS. I don't consider those proper raid content TBH. For me..1 raid. MC. 1.1 raids is you include Onyxia

@@RyveGenesis the tile system in ashes is a more complex and advanced form of new worlds "zone" system where the entire end game evolves around the 3 factions of new world trying to control each zone.
the reason i brought up new world is because i foresee ashes of creation ending up like new world if it loses population. in new world if you were on a server that was too lop sided towards a faction the game was horrible and you had zero chances of winning any faction wars or owning anything.
my fear is that AOC might turn off A LOT of mmo players who the majority of which are not a fan of full loot pvp or being forced to interact with pvp. and because AOC's tile system is farmore complex and detailed than new world A LOT can go wrong
of course at launch these issues might not be much of a factor, but 8+ months in is where a lot of MMOs start to die off or boil down to its core niche audience that supports it... i doubt AOC will "die" soon after launch but the first 8 months of an MMOs launch is very critical

@@RyveGenesis yeah and if they shit the bed or fumble in those first few months could kill the games potential far easier than new worlds screw ups did... simply because of how complex and in depth AOC seems to be aiming for. hopefully it doesnt and the tile system is versatile enough to withstand the bottle necking of content based on the various player guilds.
