- I Installed a Pipemasters 6 into 6 exhaust on my 1979 CBX 1000. Took her for a short run to get an idea of the new sound and i love it. IMO the best sounding motorcycle engine ever made. (1049cc, DOHC, 24 valves, 6 cylinders).

Love the sound! It sounds very luxurious, yet muscular from six individual pipes.

I think My friend had a 6 into 1 kerker.. but I may be wrong. I was a kid then..
What a piece or artistic engineering. The exhaust note is so beautiful and very similar to their V6 engines specially the NSX

For me the sound of the twin OEM pipes was the ultimate music track 🎶🎻🎶🎻
Worked at a Honda dealership n '79 as a kid. 3 CBX's arrived by truck one morning, 2 red, one silver, I was mesmerized. There's really cool bikes now, but nothing like these beasts. Rather be riding PCH back then. No traffic, no cops,lots of FREEDOM! Better times, IMO!
CBXs have one of the best exhaust notes ever, especially with this setup 👍🏻
The 6 into 6 gives it that oldschool 6 cylinder sound. While the 6 into 1 makes it sound like it’s got a OS Giken TC-24 header. I prefer the 6 into 1.
Lol. Glad you said that. Don't like the tone of this system at all. Sounds a bit like a car with a holed rear silencer. 6-1 sounds epic. Even standard sounds better than this to me, but each to their own. 😊

Whoa... I'm sure that was Bad... they were not light bikes. If I remember correctly... my bud's Moto had the sides.... chrome crash bars.

We forget with time. Fuel has completely changed since theses bikes were made to run on leaded petrol, lead being a lubricant for the rings but now removed. I guess we just don't think to put something in the fuel as an upper cylinder lubricant in old engines. There used to be a lot of upper cylinder lubricant kits for cars when we transitioned to unleaded fuels.

No not displacement just cylinders LOL. If your GS 450 was a six cylinder it would sound the same, conversely if your GS 450 was an 1100 twin it would sound much like your GS 450 but a bit throatier that’s all!
More cylinders = more displacement

I'm from Austria and I don't think it was detuned in Germany or here. There is no law about how much horse power something is allowed to have.

No, you can’t fit them with straight pipes because they would poke out from the cylinders and foul on the front wheel when you tried to steer😂💥

My CBX with a 6 into 1 Winning brand header sounded much better. It was a true GP. sound.
