  • Autosaving in AutoCAD Civil 3D helps to prevent loss of work by automatically saving your drawings at regular intervals. Here’s how you can enable and configure the autosave feature:
    1. **Open AutoCAD Civil 3D**: Start the application and open a drawing.
    2. **Access Options**:
    - Type `OPTIONS` in the command line and press `Enter`.
    - Alternatively, you can click on the "Application menu" (the big "A" in the upper-left corner), then select "Options" at the bottom.
    3. **Go to the Open and Save Tab**:
    - In the Options dialog box, click on the "Open and Save" tab.
    4. **Enable Autosave**:
    - In the "File Safety Precautions" section, check the box for "Automatic Save".
    5. **Set the Time Interval**:
    - In the same section, specify the time interval in minutes for how often you want the autosave to occur. The default is usually set to 10 minutes, but you can adjust this to your preference.
    6. **Apply and Close**:
    - Click "Apply" and then "OK" to close the Options dialog box.
    *Additional Tips:*
    - **Manual Save**: It's still good practice to manually save your work frequently by pressing `Ctrl + S` or by clicking the save icon.
    - **Autosave Location**: Autosave files are usually saved with a `.sv$` extension and are typically located in the Temp folder. You can find and recover these files if needed by navigating to this directory.
By enabling autosave, you can reduce the risk of losing your progress due to unexpected events like power outages or software crashes.
