I have heard and sang this song since I was a child! Now 70 and means more to me now! I was baptised many years ago, but I worry about the youth of our country! God be with them all!
My Dad sang this in Church as a soloist . He had a wonderful baritone voice . I miss him a lot . Alan always sings these gospel songs beautifully .
Yes, Jesus is calling! Oh what a call it was on a Sunday in 1981 after I lost my Momma. I had closed the bar and dance place where my wife and I spent Saturday nights. My head was pounding, my liver screaming. I stunk real bad from cigarette smoke and my wife looked like she had aged 20 or 30 years overnight! I cried out to God in desperation and said something like "Help me if you can". He answered me immediately and I found peace right away, nothing else mattered; the pain, the ugliness if that morning. In August, I gave my life to Jesus and I've never been the same. I wouldn't trade all the drugs, booze and honky tonks in the world for what I have now in Jesus all because He called me one Sunday morning.

Coming up on Anniversay of my precious Moms passing. After being in hospital for period of time she started singing this beautiful song . She never understood at the time. All she knew was the song kept popping up in her mind . So I played this video by Alan for her. Shortly after she passed away. 💔 miss her more than words can express. My mother was saved at a church service one night in Elmwood, Ohio. As she walked down the aisle to the alter the choir was singing this song.

I hadn’t heard this hymn in years and I sat here praying for my son on his 38th birthday (who’s grieving the sudden passing of his girlfriend), the Holy Spirit brought it back to my memory. I love the old songs so much!! I wish more churches today would sing the old gospel songs. So many are missing out on what good scripture written songs are all about today. My Mama was 100 when she went home. Several years before her death she didn't know who we were or where she was but as soon as we would start singing an old hymn she would begin to sing it word for word. She never forgot them. I've often wondered if this generation will be able to do that when their time comes.

I love Alan Jackson's version of this hymn. Mymom recently passed away from Alzheimer's. This was her favorite hymn. I have the sweetest video of her singing this. She was like a little girl. I miss you, Mom.

We must go through the flaming sword! Stolen waters are sweet and bread eaten in secret is pleasant but all said and done we still have to go through the flaming sword that keeps the way of the tree of life. (Line upon line, precept upon precept but nevertheless, go through the flaming sword! Stolen waters sure is sweet though...
Love is obligated to help others discern the Lord more perfectly. Love is of God. Its origin is of God not of us, so we don't see preiminence but it accually causes us to take our kingly robes "off". A kingly attitude God will abase. There is a flaming sword still today but only Love will go through it. In many cases Christian's are going through it in a measure, not knowing what it represents but it is good to know the english to what you are living by faith in part. The flaming sword is not Jesus, it's not a celestial angel so what or who is it? I'll leave you with this home work. I encourage anyone reading this "Not" to take someone's opinion but only scripture itself.
And maybe you can find what stolen waters are? I am ultimately glad to be a part with you in this great family of God. God bless!

In loving memory of my sister in law, my husband's twin sister who passed away 4th May 2020. Loved and sadly missed
So sorry for your families loss, this life is temporary and one day you will be reunited. Those words keep in my heart after my mom and brother went home a few years ago. A song that helped me was Dani (my favorite solo with headphones on)'Dancing In The Sky' she wrote it when she lost a dear friend who loved life. If it was a record I would have worn it out...it brought me peace.

I'm sorry about your loss, may you be strong for your husband. I lost my sister also from colon cancer July 22nd, 2020. I never knew how painful it was to loss a love one until i lost my sister, by God grace I am coping with lots of prayers and singing.

Played this at my dad's funeral in 2018...only song that seemed perfect! He was wearing as Alzheimer's took his mind many years before, God took my dad's precious soul and I can't wait to see him again!

I grew up on these old hyms. From the sacred selection. And I still love them.
I have a picture of me sitting in my granny's lap. I was about 5 years old and she was teaching me the songs in the Baptist hymnal. This was one of my favorites. I am 67 now. I get tearful every time I hear this. It seems like yesterday.
