Hymn: "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling"

The popular Hymn "Softly and Tenderly was first self published by Will Thompson in 1880. It became popular fairly fast. Dwight Moody told Will on his deathbed “Will, I would rather have written ‘Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling’ than anything I have been able to do in my whole life.” The song was also used for the Memorial service of Martin Luther King.
