Just configured one for a friend.liked it BUT... you can't do Live Wall Papers and No Multi task window. i was able to load NOVA Launcher but the Live Wall Papers won't activate. Also the picture quality is a bit off compared to my other devices. you can compensate by adjusting TV but out of the box i didn't care for how it looked. The box is lighting fast and played everything i threw at it...Very Solid device

What's the point of a fake SIM-card slot? I was actually looking forward to that until I say your lettering mentioning it was fake, it would of been neat if it was working though. However, that remote is pretty neat, I always wonder why TV streamers don't adapt to that style of remotes as the standard. It has really good performance for a decent price.

I have ordered it from china. expecting to arrive in two days. For sim slot actually they have two different version box with and without depends what you want and how much you want to spend.
It has good specs and is every bit as nice as you say but not coming Rooted is a deal breaker to me. I have seen a lot of lovely boxes on TH-cam that were not rooted but every time I factory reset my box when it slows down I don't want to have to go through the hassle of rooting it. You did a great Review like always keep them coming. I enjoy them and appreciate them.

Great video! A few questions... How are you playing pub g and major mayhem on a TV box? Neither game has had controller support. (Octopus?) And do you think there will be a work around for Netflix at 4k like TH-cam at some point. The price on this comes dangerously close to the Nvidia Shield whose specs are light-years beyond.
PubG works with my game controller, auto detected no configuring needed. Netflix is too strict on which device it can work on. So I have not ever seen a real work-around yet. Yes the Shield is king of the jungle. Imagine if the shield dropped in price a little more, that would be amazing.

Thanks for the video. Can you provide some info on durability of the use, specifically if the box overheats after long use of heavy apps, video play, game play and etc?
The only thing that will make this overheat is gaming. if you play too many games and this applies to all android TV boxes, then it will overheat. I never play games on my TV boxes, I just use them for streaming movies and watching live PPVs etc. They will last forever. Gaming is very tempting and as there is no adequate cooling you will always eventually start overheating.

Do you feel that IPTV streaming, youtube, general internet browsing and multimedia are improved in general because of the higher benchmarks? Or do you not feel any difference between 3399 and 912 CPU boxes in that area?
I feel the main difference is the performance, it will do everything the S912 can, but noticeably faster. Yes it has the power to play games but does not have the cooling required for long period of gaming. Solution is to grab a mini USB fan.
Great review as usual. A very powerful tv box, good for gaming and for watching media from local storage. Other than that, for those who like streaming, a Fire stick is cheaper and probably more convenient

Have you seen the CR19 box? See a video saying it had antutu scores better than any tv box bar the shield. Generally dont trust any gadget until you have reviewed it though. Hope you get that one in soon 👍

There are a very few TV boxes that can now do Amazon prime, sometimes it will load a movie and then stop playing with errors. So if you want prime you need to stick with amazon device.

Had to see this review again. Sorry, but I still feel this box is too pricey. Remote and voice is nice but the lack of Widevine support; DDR 4 ram, AND *not* rooted are negatives against this price point. Heck, you reviewed the Quntaix R33 STICK which has Widevine support. Point being, lately I've been watching reviews on boxes having Widevine support, more now than before. Doesn't it allow for better viewing? Am I placing too much emphasis on this? DDR4 is probably more important for gamers (which I'm not) but Widevine support is more important for streamers who desire a crisper viewing experience, correct? Since my last comment, I purchased the M8S Pro L for $70.00 which plays Netflix in 1080p. I realize users decide on what works best for them, but I like taking a look at the bigger picture and the value it represents. No Android box is going to allow for full resolution streaming on Netflix because they are all rooted. Just like some apps, like Hulu, won't run on an Android box at all because of root.
All android TV boxes can overheat if you play too many games. As there is no cooling system. If you just steam movies like I do, then it will never overheat.
After reading some comments, I agree, another great review Chigz. But unlike some of those comments, I do have a couple of concerns and a question or two. Not rooted? This may not be a big deal because I've read that we can root boxes ourselves. I wouldn't know how because all boxes I've purchased in the past were rooted as standard. As a result of watching many reviews, some agree that 4 gigs of ram in an android tv box is more than adequate. Okay, but why not DDR4 ram? Am I wrong for expecting DDR4 ram in an android box that retails for $125 U.S. or more? Is DDR4 that much more expensive to include in mass production that this price couldn't support? Hmmm. And "No" Widevine support at this price point? What's up with that? Or is upgrading TH-cam in the Aptoide TV app "the" work around? I'm not familiar with Aptoide. In another review on the same box, an Antutu score was 60,000 and didn't specify the version Antutu used. I would suspect it was the older version. You spell it out for us, thank you. But the difference in your test using the older version resulted in a 18,000 difference, yours 78,000, the other 60,000. Should that raise an eyebrow? In conclusion, there will be a time in the near future that I'll purchase another box. During the interim, I'm trying to learn how to future proof as much as necessary while keeping in mind that funds for the same could never keep up with technology. Great job Chigz and thanks so much for all you do for us and the community at large.
DDR4 would be nice but it appears that there are not many manufacturers offering the same, I guess it must be a lot more expensive than DDR3. DDR4 is 3 times faster then DDR3. Widewine L1 support is quite rare. Only major TV box manufacturers are able to achieve it. No work-around for widevine. Antutu 6 is accurate for TV Boxes. Antutu 7 gives a much higher score. The only reason this is not no2 is I like the home screen of the h96 max better. Otherwise this and the max are both worth of 2nd place.

I prefer the M8S L as the GT1 has a terrible home-screen. Otherwise they are both quite powerful in performance.

I would go for H96 Max but only because I like the homes-creen better as i'm used to it. Otherwise they are the same.
Yup,I do agree with u.It seems H96 max runs faster than X99 especially when startup.only 10secs,that's crazy.

Never experienced that, I would uninstall kodi totally and then reinstall it from the play store and see if that resolves things.

I dont recommend root, you may end up bricking. There is not much benefit of root. All third party apps can be installed without root.

As a result of watching many reviews, some agree that 4 gigs of ram in an android tv box is more than adequate. Okay, but why not DDR4 ram? Am I wrong for expecting DDR4 ram in an android box that retails for $125 U.S. or more? Is DDR4 that much more expensive to include in mass production that this price couldn't support? Hmmm. And "No" Widevine support at this price point? What's up with that? Or is upgrading TH-cam in the Aptoide TV app "the" work around? I'm not familiar with Aptoide. In another review on the same box, an Antutu score was 60,000 and didn't specify the version Antutu used. I would suspect it was the older version. You spell it out for us, thank you. But the difference in your test using the older version resulted in a 18,000 difference, yours 78,000, the other 60,000. Should that raise an eyebrow? In conclusion, there will be a time in the near future that I'll purchase another box. During the interim, I'm trying to learn how to future proof as much as necessary while keeping in mind that funds for the same could never keep up with technology. DDR4 would be nice but it appears that there are not many manufacturers offering the same, I guess it must be a lot more expensive than DDR3. DDR4 is 3 times faster then DDR3. Widewine L1 support is quite rare. Only major TV box manufacturers are able to achieve it. No work-around for widevine. Antutu 6 is accurate for TV Boxes. Antutu 7 gives a much higher score. If you mean H96 then that also does 480p on Netflix. Netflix is very stingy with their licensing for HD.
