I love holiday versions of classic cartoons. Even if I wasn’t born during its original airing, it always makes me smile.

I actually remember when this episode first aired. Idiot about a week before Christmas and every one of my friends had to watch it including me. Pac-Man was a big craze. Baseball cards, toys, stuffed animals and cartoons. Life was good😁

I actually remember watching this one yearly as a kid, Cartoon Network used to play it. They also made a Christmas Special for Pac-Man and his ghostly adventures and it was pretty good too in a cheesy way
Speaking of drugs in teh animation industry in the 80s, this was about the same time as the Bakshi Mighty Mouse reboot. The one where Mighty Mouse got his powers by sniffing a pink powder up his nose. There was also the Gummy Bears with their Gummyberry juice, the Asterix cartoons had their potion, and I think even the Smurfs has some sort of magic berry to make them super fast or strong or something. Plus they lived in mushrooms. 80s cartoons were pretty messed up.

The only thing I was looking for in a series' Christmas special was if the bad guys received gifts in the end. I appreciated Pac man's special for that.

Wow, Santa's list is awesome. Not only did it have Tom Allen, but another name on there was his "House Improvement" character "Tim 'The Toolman' Tyler".
Despite this terrible special, 40 years have been kind to pacman
I'm glad I was too young to get into Saturday morning TV until the mid 80's when the shows got good. It seems the early 80's was nothing but cartoon versions of existing trendy properties.
IKR I'm still glad I was old enough to remember Transformers.

I remember watching this cartoon when I was young in the early 80s. So many drug metaphors.
I faintly remember the holiday special but I watched the Pac-Man cartoon and Saturday Supercade religiously.

I don't know why but the sound effects without the footage at the end make me think of Pacman and Ms. Pacman banging.
What bothered me about the series is Blinky, who in the arcade game is the most aggressive ghost, is the wimp in the cartoon.

This was the only “Pac-Man” animated special ran on ABC back in 1983, and it was also part of an hour-long “Pac-Man/Little Rascals/Richie Rich Hour”. Wow! That must be a trio of three animated series into one, and that was back in 1982. The “Pac-Man” was based on the classic arcade game from Namco in 1980 and it became a popular game, “The Little Rascals” cartoon was based on Hal Roach’s “Our Gang” back in the 1930’s, and “Richie Rich” was based on the comic books by Harvey Comics. What a pairing.
I watch this special every year. It's my favorite terrible Christmas special to watch.
Watch any of the original Pac-Man cartoons, have a drinking game based on how many times the word "Chomp" comes up in an episode, die of liver failure.

Video game cartoons from childhood where we were innocently high on sugar while the adults doing the cartoon programming were high on other stuff. But why did Pac Man sound like a Vaudeville bumpkin?

Was kind of hoping Pac Mans son would look like chain-chomp. The aesthetic of both of them are kind of the same. Except for the teeth on chain chomp.
I only have vague flashes of memory of this special. I had the flu bad when it was on. It was hard to see it running between rooms and falling asleep.

This special used to be on CN for years, and then on Boomerang every Christmas, and this special will not be on Boomerang anymore on Christmas Day where it is no longer part of a Christmas marathon. I hope this special will end up moving to Discovery Family soon, or it will be on Max.
The special is included on the complete “Pac-Man” animated series DVD and Blu-Ray.

Fun fact, according to the creator of Pac-Man, the regular Power Pellets were originally meant to be cookies. Later it was decided that the larger pellets Pac-Man eats in order to eat the ghosts are the cookies.
So basically, Pac-Man is the video game equivalent of Cookie Monster.

They should have proselytized to them. I'm sure the ghosts would have found the Holy Ghost quite interesting, as well as the bits about the last coming first. Pac-Man is always oppressing them and killing them. Who knows?

Come to think of it, not many of those Christmas special mentioned Jesus, as far as I know. I think A Charlie Brown Christmas was one of few, but I might be wrong.

Honestly, even as dumb as this special is, I kind of liked it as a teenager when I saw it on Cartoon Network. It's a harmless Christmas special; just go with it! :)

I barely remember this, but like on Cartoon Network in 2003. TBH I always thot it was just some shit my 6 year old mind imagined.
Wow, I actually watched this movie. That's a first for me on this channel.
Also the new edition I like, in the game when the ghosts eyes they head back to the station.
But in the show they head back to their bad guys lair and got Clothes.
With this Santa Claus's willingness to give up and his woe is me attitude, I think this special might be in the same continuity as "Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny"?
Damn, this brings back memories. Whose memories, I have no idea as I was too little to actually remember this when it came out but I am sure it re-aired on TV a few times in the late 80s and early 90s.
