    Mate, thank you! Lots of polished reviews about the CAAD13, but yours was the most informative and relevant to real-life cyclists on the we . I also appreciate this is a review of the consumer 105 disc version rather than the “I’m a dentist” £4000 AXS model. I’m almost 98% sold on this latest CAAD 105 Disc on paper. ...and yes it’s partly your damn fault 😜. I should know more in 24 hours, as all things being equal, I’ll test ride tomorrow. That’ll sort out that last 2%
    Again, mate, thank you 👍🏼

      Nice one mate, glad I might have been of help. Yes it's heavier than a carbon race bike but I've just switched back to my summer Tarmac and honestly I did think to myself I miss the Caad13. I just wonder what it would be like with a nice set of wheels on it. The top model is a bit over kill in my opinion. Let me know what you think once you have done the test ride.

    • @stillshunter
      @stillshunter 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beard on a Bike will do mate. Yeah I’ve already got my eyes on a set of Hunts (maybe their Aero 34 wides). Pretty sad really, noting I’ve not even spent a minute on the bike yet (not even test ridden). 😜 Will report back shortly.

    • @stillshunter
      @stillshunter 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beard on a Bike well test ride is done and dusted. If I’m honest, it didn’t take long. Only 5 minutes for me to decide. Sorry to say but my account is a few grand lighter and the bike shed a few kilos heavier. CAAD13 105 in the Acid Red now a part of the stable 🐎
      What struck me from that 5 minutes was the agility and the acceleration. Mate I’ve got a Tarmac which is light and fast but this thing responds far quicker to inputs. Just love how she leaps forward with a little hard wattage. I can’t wait for the weekend and her maiden outing.
      (Agreed though a lighter snappier wheelset would just do amazing things).
      Thanks again mate. I appreciate the review and the inspiration. Perfect push.

      Yeah the Acid Red is something else...red in some light, orange in other and even Rapha pink in other light again. I do wonder if Cannondale styled the colourways of their CAADs after Rapha.

    Hey Beard, happy to come across your channel and video. So I’m a new rider and just want to know your take on this being someone’s first bike. I was looking at the giant contend ar 1 along with others but even though what I want out of my bike is (endurance) to be able to ride miles upon miles. I don’t like the majority of endurance frames compare to racing ones such as the Caad here. Secondly what would be some good summer tires for the caad that you mentioned in you video? Cheers!

    • @c.c.9401
      @c.c.9401 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I forgot to add sorry 😅 disc brakes vs regular brakes. Is the difference significant or would it be down to personal preference. I read disc would be optimal during winter rides through rain and such.

    • @BeardonaBike
      @BeardonaBike  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@c.c.9401 it's all personal preference the bike and the brakes. I think the contend would be great as a first bike as it has endurance geometry should be comfortable. Aluminium frame can take a knock here and there.
      The most important thing is what ever bike you get make sure to use it and ride safely. Maybe seek out a local club for guidance, routes and support?
      As it's your first bike I'd probably get some Continental 4 seasons tyres a little heavy , not as fast rolling but extremely puncture proof and reasonably priced. I've had a pair and there in their 3rd year now and no issues.

    Hi, i'm looking at getting a road bike thats reliable and quick enough for keeping up with my friends on casual rides (they have high spec bikes). So far i'm looking at the Allez elite, Caad 13 105 or the synapse 105. I just wondered what your thoughts/recommendations would be?

    • @BeardonaBike
      @BeardonaBike  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sam, I totally think all bikes mentioned would do the job its the rider not the bike. I'd probably make a decision on components, wheels etc. The looks are an important factor too. I'd ride all of the above but obviously went for the CAAD13 its a new model bike so should still be current for a few years. With some nice wheels it could be a great crit bike too.

    I am considering this bike to ride around a town with many hills, but also to ride on a trail system that sometimes has finely crushed limestone. With 28s or 30s, would this be ok for trail riding? And is it comfortable for hours in the saddle? Thanks!

    • @BeardonaBike
      @BeardonaBike  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's great for long hours in the saddle, doubles up as a race bike. It's a little heavy but you can bring the weight down. (See the other video in my feed Black Caad13). Should be ok with 30s but I would probably consider the Cannondale Super X which might be more suited to the type of terrain you are riding.

Did you end up swapping your wheels? They now come with Fulcrums, but I was thinking of putting my Hope wheels on so wondered what would be the max size of tyre that would still allow me to run mudguards? Thanks.

    • @BeardonaBike
      @BeardonaBike  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok don't tell anyone I said this but I kind of like it more than all my carbon bikes. It's so comfortable, inspires confidence on decents, reduced fatigue the only thing is it's a little heavy. Swapping the wheels and maybe some other components will help lighten it if you do a lot of climbing. I'm really happy with it and the green has finally grown on me. This bike with guards will take 28c cont 4 seasons but there is a lot of faffing about to get it spot on. Probably get 30-32c with out. I got it for winter but have been riding it a lot this year for training and longer rides. The paint scratches very easy so might go for a custom paint job at some point.

    Cannondale always had a terrible choice of components on their ready made frames, on those entry level bikes it shows even more. And the issue with the disk breaks are normal, they always rub and cause some issues.

    • @BeardonaBike
      @BeardonaBike  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wasn't willing to put anymore money into it, it's used as a winter bike through wet and raining conditions. If I had better components I'd just be replacing them later down the line so 105 was good enough. Disc breaks for wet weather and since my other bikes are now disc I have the option to swap wheels out. It's not a bad ride just a little heavy but comfortable and does the job.
