Reasons to pick Revenge over Deal: 1. Family comes first. Bros before hoes 2. Niko can always get a new girlfriend but a cousin is irreplaceable 3. Only Little Jacob helps you in Deal whereas both him AND Roman help you in Revenge 4. Niko taking the deal would go against his beliefs of money and forgiving the enemy who betrayed him. 5. Killing Dimitri is way more satisfying in Revenge, seeing that asshole we all hate very much finally begging for mercy, getting what he deserves. 6. You have a mission where you end it where it all began 7. Roman and Mallorie still get to live a happily married life with a child & Mallorie’s life won’t be ruined without a husband and with a child without a father 8. Having a guest killed at the wedding is preferred over having the Broom killed at his OWN wedding 9. Roman supports your decision no matter what you do but Kate will not talk to Niko again if he does the Deal, losing both Kate AND Roman 10. The music at the end of Revenge is happy and the music at the end of Deal is sad 11. A Dish Served Cold is an easier mission than If the Price is Right 12. The McReary’s already have a hard life, they don’t need their innocent sister killed to make their life harder, too 5. Maybe in a few years, Niko can get married to Kate or Mallorie? I know it’s fucked up for Niko to marry his dead cousin’s wife but if Mallorie wanted to live a life with a husband, the second closest option she has is Niko where he could be the stepfather to her son. 6. The main antagonist killed in the final mission of GTA games has always been the GTA trend, except maybe Advance and Chinatown Wars 7. If Niko kills Darko, then revenge is his ending. But if spares Darko, it makes more sense in the story to pick deal showing how much Niko has changed, realizing revenge is not what he is after. Especially on Dimitri 8. Niko says “so this is what the dream feels like. This is the victory we longed for. That hits so hard in this strong story showing that he achieved the American Dream in many ways and what does he have to show for it? His cousin’s corpse. It’s like a lesson he learns (I made this comment before watching the video)
Also, if you pay attention on the mission "Russian Revolution" when they were escaping from the cops after the shootout inside the warehouse, Niko promised Jacob that he'll take down Dimitri himself. Choosing the Deal would just blatantly ruin Niko's character integrity and in the process losing both Roman and Kate.
Well in my opinion killing darko leads into the revenge ending because Niko never realizes that revenge is not what he wants leading him into killing Dimitri (like you were saying) but sparing darko will lead into the deal ending ( keep in mind that Niko doesn’t know that Kate or Roman will die) because Niko finally realized that he’s wasn’t looking for revenge and killing darko won’t change anything and plus Niko would be more willing to listen to Roman then Kate so it would lead into Niko trying to make a deal with Dimitri. Even though the revenge ending is more satisfying I think that the deal ending is canon. But then again there’s references to Kate being dead in Gta 5 but I still stand by my opinion. I’m so sorry Roman.
In my opinion, Niko has learned more or less about revenge being bad whenever he kills Darko or lets him suffer. When he and Roman are driving away: when he pulled the trigger, he says that he feels empty and he can't notice difference in his life; when Niko let Darko go, Niko complains about making so much effort finding Darko not to kill him, but when he talk with Roman, he finally comes to conclusion that he made right thing. Moreover, killing Dimitri was not only about getting revenge. It was also about securing his and Roman's safety
You forgot a couple reasons: 1. Dimitri tells you to kill mikhail faustin and then betrays you later on in the game. 2. He got roman kidnapped 3. He burned down Roman’s house in hove beach in the mission “Roman’s sorrow”
"Stay close to Mallorie and me. We are your family". Thats so heart breaking and warming at the same time. Niko but feel so alone in this world but hopefully he stayed close and took his role as an uncle seriously and had a good life.
This depression fact can also be signified by the camera movements. In revenge ending the statue of happiness is shown from front while in deal ending the statue is shown from back, which may show that the deal ending is more depressing through visuals.
I learned that the hard way when I played this game years ago after that I picked deal I started to miss Roman's calls wanting to go bowling and it made me sad and here I am playing the game again on PC and picked Revange it filled that hole of sadness

My personal reason for choosing Revenge is poetic Justice. Although I did hit him with a bat, killing him on the Platypus, after realizing that that was the ship that took Niko to Liberty to begin with and then killing the Peg at the Statue of Happiness. It really made me feel like Niko was reclaiming his life in LC
It was obvious Dimitri couldn't be trusted. Doing the deal would have been an obvious mistake, choosing deal would have made Niko just as blind as everyone else, revenge needed to be done to end that conflict how it needed to end. How am I gonna miss the opportunity to kill him? He obviously wants to kill me. Also Roman in GTA 6.

@@jakethefox9439 , yeah, they did forget they made games for 10 years because of Online but there's still a chance. In GTA V, IV characters appeared but Niko was scrapped. In San Andreas Vice City characters appeared but Vercetti was scrapped. It's hard to write stories. Side character's will make a return 100%. Rockstar limited their freedom with the universe barriers but if they let it slide it they got Vice City characters or reasons on why people from Liberty City and San Andreas are in Vice City now.
I'm sorry but you didn't quite understand Niko and Kate's relationship... If you date her just a couple of times then what you said is true. But canonically Niko is supposed to become very close to her as he says to Roman that "there's this girl I really like... She is called Kate McReary". And Kate also likrs him a lot as she says to him during one of their dates that she really likes him and if she was ready for a relationship she wanted it to be with him. The reason why they both were so in love with each other despite not even sleeping together once, is because they both could be themselves with each other. They both grew up in fucked up families so they both had an hard life. They both had high moral standards and they just enjoyed each other's company. Kate wasn't just another cheap girl like those you can find online in-game. In Revenge ending before Roman's wedding Niko and Kate finally get together as they say during their dialogue to the church, and you can see that they were behaving like a couple at Roman's wedding before she gets killed. Kate only dumps Niko in Deal because he showed her that he got over his principles for money in that ending, deciding to be a criminal forever. That doesn't happen in Revenge where Niko thought that by killing Dimitri he had finally cut his connections with the underworld and was ready to be good and live like a normal person with Kate, which make Kate accept to be his girlfriend. Comparing their relationship to Trevor and Patricia is just ridiculous... Niko and Kate's relationship was way deeper. Still Revenge remains a better ending for GTA 4.

So either you loose Roman and Kate for deal or you loose Kate with revenge. Only thing that changes is Packie says “I’m sorry for you loss with Roman” or packie says “she did nothing wrong it was us boys in the mcreary family who did the crimes she was innocent. INNOCENT LITTLE KATE.”
Another reason to pick revenge is you only lose 1 person (kate). Where in deal, you lose 2 (kate n roman) cuz there's a glitch where you can't date with Kate anymore even tho she's alive and willing to reach out to niko after roman' death.
I picked revenge without knowing what will happen when I got this game first time because I hated Dimitri for the way he was torturing Roman( very positive guy to be around)
I choosed Deal, because Roman told me so, he told Niko that they will take a private jet to Vice city and leave it all behind, I did it for him, not for me, because I cared about him and Mallorie, but fucking Dimitri screwed me again
Honorable Reasons for Revenge Ending: 1.Niko can be your dad in GTA online 2. Rumor has it that in Bully 2 we will meet Niko at the graveyard of liberty city, where Niko is waiting for Kate Mcreary's and if you approach him you will be given a mission where every mission you will be taught the movements of the Serbian army (same as the hobo moves in bully 1) 3. In GTA V we can see on Jimmy's laptop that Niko has a lifeinvader account(also Roman has too)
In my first gameplay I killed Darko and choosed the deal, I got depressed by the ending. Then I immediately started a new game right from the beginning and not killed Darko and choosed revenge. still depressing ending but not more than the other ending.
Main reasons to pick revenge:- 1) It is slightly happier than deal, because losing a family is more heartbreaking than losing a friend. 2) Roman lives. Thus, You can use Roman's free taxi rides to save your time. 3) In deal, even if Kate lives, she cant be dated anymore. So its better to sacrifice her, although it will break Packie's heart. 4) Revenge ending is canon, as per GTA 5 easter egg. 5) Mallorie will be revealed pregnant, so letting Roman live will help him stay with his child. 6) Its better to stay away from Pegorino's greed and take him out afterwards, rather than regret doing the deal with him and then taking out Dimitri, instead of him. 7) In deal, Dimitri will betray the buyers and keep the Heroin for himself (which is shown in cutscene of Revenge, where Dimitri was loading the stolen heroin on Platypus). Dimitri should be given award for betraying most people (even Darko is better than him). So its better to kill him at Platypus, so that he wont betray anyone else further.
I've finished the game once with the Revenge mission. It was sad but still the right thing to do. Haven't picked the Deal mission yet and by watching this video I don't feel like picking it.
I ultimately go with revenge. Niko would never make a deal with Dimitri after being betrayed by him. It's not even a matter of personal vendetta against him, but that Dimitri not someone to be trusted. Kate's death is still very sad, especially when talking to packie on the phone afterward.
in revenge ending, jimmy pegorino's death is avoidable if he just leave niko alone and not to tamper him in his cousin's wedding day, but since he attacked the wedding day of his cousin and kills his girlfriend kate, endangered the lives of the guests and the couple in the wedding, which angered niko bellic to avenge the death of kate mcreary and kills jimmy pegorino
@@MTC008 I don't think he would leave him alone tbh. He's a mob boss, and Niko is just an associate (like Phil Bell). Jimmy still has an effluence on him. More than that, he's under a lot of pressure from the cops bc Anthony was rat. And he also killed all remaining Ray Boccino crew as well as Ray, and some members of Pegorino family (or shall I say glorified crew) in jail already. And more than that commission would never accepted them. I think Jimmy should have send other guys with phil and if Dimitri screws him over let Niko to take Dimitri out but he wasn't able to think rational at the time.
Here's more logical reasons: 1. Why should Niko help Dimitri after witnessing every partners getting betrayed, himself included. 2. Aside from the money what else could benefit him doing the deal. 3. Nobody cares for Pegorino and he never scratches your back, only offers jobs but that's it. There's no point of offering any loyalty to Pegorino, especially when he's got trust issues with his own gang and as said before he's selfish. (Also, Peg stabs you in the back either ways.) 4. It was a delay to the inevitable, as if either Niko or Dimitri were going to forgive each other. The game of hunt or be hunted ends with one of them dead. 5. Keeping Dimitri alive, could keep everyone he cares about in danger. Sure it mainly kept Roman in danger, but if Dimitri knows other loved ones, he'll do whatever it takes to bring Niko down.
Another reason why I like the “revenge” mission, aside from Roman lives is that when Kate ends up dying, it’s a lot less depressing. Besides Kate is boring as fuck

Though it's sad that Katie dies in Revenge, Roman is an iconic and therefore a much more canonical character than her in GTA IV. It's sad that you have to choose between the two, but Niko loses Kate either way so..
Yeah, there isn’t really any GOOD reason to pick Deal because Kate leaves you anyways, right? And you cannot hang out with her or anything at all, she’s basically gone. At that point you might as well pick deal anyways if she’s just gonna leave you. Kate is gone regardles but with Revenge ending, at least Roman lives and you can always date other characters anywho.
Revenge is a better choice because 1. Free taxi ride with Roman 2. Can go to the bowling area 3. More fun having to hang around with Roman. 4. Can call Roman whenever he wants.
I always take the Revenge Route cause it’s a fitting end in my opinion. I’m not gonna let Roman die on his Wedding Day. It’s also about sticking with principle.
Nah Roman tells you to take the deal and Kate tells you not. So if you choose revenge, you technically choos Kate’s advice not Romans. Keep in mind that Niko didn’t know the consequence of his choice before the tragedies.
Revenge is the superior ending, because yeah, Niko loses someone close to him, but at the end of the game, Niko can still hang out with Roman, and use his Free taxi services, and putting an end to Dimitri's reign of terror will save Niko and His family.
I chose deal because I wanted Niko to forget about revenge and Roman also advices you to forgive Dimitri and I listened to him... so technically I did something for Roman which got him killed...
Honestly the deal ending doesn’t make any sense. I do believe the revenge ending the real ending, because I don’t Niko would waste his time making a deal with Dimitri after the bs he put Niko & Roman

Probably his mom eventually passed away due to depression. She lost one of her children due to Francis, one got incarcerated for a long time, and the other died in a failed hit. Packie would find his big break in LS when one of the protagonists (in my headcanon, probably Michael since Frank didn't know about heist plannings yet.) rescued him and employs him for heists. (I chose him for the vangelico and the UD heist

Probably no one noticed this, but in the revenge ending the statue of liberty is seen front of you when the camera goes up after killing pegorino, while in the deal ending the statue is seen by the back meaning you've done the wrong choice
Tbh i personally prefer the Deal ending just because the impact that it has on the story, most people pick deal just because thats the lesser of two evils considering that all together she was the less developed character out of both, she kinda just showed and Niko started getting feelings for her so when she dies and Niko acts devastated its difficult for the player to simpatyze with it. But with Roman dying thats a whole different story just because of the implications of his death. He was the person to welcome Niko into america and dispite lying about his life he was more than whiling to share what little he had with Niko, he was cought in the crossfire with Dimitri by being shot, having his apartment and bussines burned, getting beaten up and kidnapped just to bait Niko out so his death being the last push that makes Niko snap after all his ordeal finding Darko seems fitting to end this tragic story.
Sad fact: In the deal ending dimitri actually send one of his men to kill niko, but niko was capable to push it back, which killed roman. Giving the feel roman died cause of niko.
My only problem with the 'Revenge' ending is you don't get to hear "Welcome to America." I get that Pegorino isn't an immigrant like Dimitri and Niko but Michael Hollick's delivery is just so epic. It could have been Pegorino yelling about how he's the boss and Niko's just some penniless grunt off the boat so this isn't how it should go, then Niko tells him, "Welcome to America. That's capitalism, Jimmy."
Dimitri, "Welcome to America" Jimmy, "The commission, the old families, I know some of those guys and they thought you were a fat f*****g joke" I almost feel like Niko is showing Dimitri that despite the fact that he took everything from him, he understands him. However Niko laughs at Pegorino and tells him that he's wasted his life because his life's work to get his family on the Commission was never going to happen. I feel like given everything that Dimitri did, "Welcome to America" has less of an impact than what Niko said to Jimmy (who had only become Niko's enemy out of circumstance) which let's face it was a cruel dig.
jimmy pegorino does not consider himself an immigrant because he was born in US while his ancestors are completely immigrants too from italy because of their surname, he considers niko an immigrant because he was not born in US soil and therefore came to US by cargo ship by means of illegal enter of the country
I saw the deal ending on TH-cam, and it's the most sad mission in the GTA series. Not a good ending at all. So I recommend a lot to kill Dimitri in the revenge mission.
I actually like the deal missions. The reason why is because it fits perfectly with the story and since gta 4 has such a dark atmosphere if would make sense.
@@ss64vids84 It doesn't fit with the story at all. It goes completely against Niko's Character. He promised he would kill Dimitri. Dimitri tried to kill him and Roman countless times through the story. He also tried to Kill Bernie. There is no reason for Niko to assume that Dimitri will not try to kill them again. He knows that Dimitri betrays everyone, even his best friend. And he also knows that Pegerino's missons always go horribly wrong. And by that time he has more than enough money already. It was also shown during "The Holland Play" that Niko prefers to do the right thing instead of getting a whole bunch of money. And when he has the phone calls with Kate and Roman, Kate is the voice of reason and not Roman. Because although Roman is the voice of reason in multiple occasions through the story, he also has his own flaws, the biggest being his greed and naivety. That was exactly his motivation for advising Niko to work again with Dimitri. Whereas Kate doesn't want to gain something from that situation, she just wants to help Niko do the right thing.

@@ss64vids84 I get your point, but the Revenge ending is also pretty sad. Kate would be the perfect woman for Niko, since she knows about his past and it's not a dealbreaker for her. She would still mary Niko as long as he leaves that life behind. Her family would have lost another member. And Roman and Mallorie's wedding day would always been overshadowed by the tragic event that occured back then. Either way, Niko will feel guilty and regret that he didn't take the other choice, falsley believing it would not have ended in a tragedy that way.

Seems like everybody is shitting on Kate for some reason, I don't understand why. Yes, I've also always picked Revenge, because it's the better ending, but that doesn't mean Kate was bad and people shouldn't hate on the character. Kate never hurt anyone, never committed any crimes, she was honest and compassionate with Niko and she was simply a good person. She had a tough life, growing up with an alcoholic father, who was nice to her, but did bad things to her brothers. All her brothers, apart from one (though that's debatable with Francis), were criminals. One was recently killed, one was recently locked up for a very long time. Her remaining brothers are drug addicts and she has an old mother that she was taking care of. Kate also suffered from depression throughout her adult life. Kate wanted to live a normal life, settle down with a nice man, have children and work as a school teacher. This is why at first, she only considered Niko a friend, as she didn't want to date a criminal. However, if you dated her throughout the game, her and Niko would get closer and slowly fall for each other. During dates, she would even admit she liked Niko and if they were both ready for a relationship, she would want to be with him. She would also get frustrated by Niko continuing his life of crime, as she made it clear that this was the barrier between them. The reason was simple, she was worried Niko would end up being killed or sent to prison, and she would be forced to raise their children without their father. The choice we have to make at the end of the game is basically our last chance to prove to Kate that Niko really cares about her and wants to be with her. By taking a risk and doing the Deal, we effectively put the money over our morals and principles, which is a deal breaker for Kate, as her patience runs out with Niko and she decides he simply can't be the one for her, because he's clearly not willing to give up his criminal life. She chooses to distance herself from Niko despite loving him, as she thinks the relationship cannot work. If we choose Revenge instead, Kate is happy, because she knows Niko is closing the book on his criminal life in order to settle down with her and live a normal, happy life. This is the moment she finally accepts Niko as her serious love interest. Tragically, at this very moment, Kate is taken away. Kate was Niko's biggest hope for a better life. Sadly, the game forces you to either blow your chance with her, or to be accepted by her, but lose her forever shortly afterwards. As such, neither ending is really a good ending. Yes, Revenge is better, because Roman lives and Niko makes the right decision regarding dealing with Dimitri. However, the best option would be to ignore the deal completely and move on with our life. Sadly, the game doesn't give us that option. Perhaps Niko and his family wouldn't be safe if he decided to just run away.
I love that the statue of liberty is in that shot when Mallorie tells you about Roman will never see his child (if he dies). I hate that ending, I kind of can't stand Kate anyway, but Roman is your blood. But when he says "Your child will never have to worry about anything" (implying Niko will not only financially support Mallorie and the child but also protect them as well -- or try to) with the statue of liberty in the background that's like poetic almost. The land of the free. The home of the brave. And either ending regardless is just so sad. This is not my favorite GTA game but replaying it again now like 15 years later I am definitely enjoying it more the second time around even if the relationships system is kind of grindy and boring.

Reasons to pick Revenge over Deal:
1. Family comes first. Bros before hoes
2. Niko can always get a new girlfriend but a cousin is irreplaceable
3. Only Little Jacob helps you in Deal whereas both him AND Roman help you in Revenge
4. Niko taking the deal would go against his beliefs of money and forgiving the enemy who betrayed him.
5. Killing Dimitri is way more satisfying in Revenge, seeing that asshole we all hate very much finally begging for mercy, getting what he deserves.
6. You have a mission where you end it where it all began
7. Roman and Mallorie still get to live a happily married life with a child & Mallorie’s life won’t be ruined without a husband and with a child without a father
8. Having a guest killed at the wedding is preferred over having the Broom killed at his OWN wedding

5. Maybe in a few years, Niko can get married to Kate or Mallorie? I know it’s fucked up for Niko to marry his dead cousin’s wife but if Mallorie wanted to live a life with a husband, the second closest option she has is Niko where he could be the stepfather to her son.
6. The main antagonist killed in the final mission of GTA games has always been the GTA trend, except maybe Advance and Chinatown Wars
7. If Niko kills Darko, then revenge is his ending. But if spares Darko, it makes more sense in the story to pick deal showing how much Niko has changed, realizing revenge is not what he is after. Especially on Dimitri

Also, if you pay attention on the mission "Russian Revolution" when they were escaping from the cops after the shootout inside the warehouse, Niko promised Jacob that he'll take down Dimitri himself. Choosing the Deal would just blatantly ruin Niko's character integrity and in the process losing both Roman and Kate.
Well in my opinion killing darko leads into the revenge ending because Niko never realizes that revenge is not what he wants leading him into killing Dimitri (like you were saying) but sparing darko will lead into the deal ending ( keep in mind that Niko doesn’t know that Kate or Roman will die) because Niko finally realized that he’s wasn’t looking for revenge and killing darko won’t change anything and plus Niko would be more willing to listen to Roman then Kate so it would lead into Niko trying to make a deal with Dimitri. Even though the revenge ending is more satisfying I think that the deal ending is canon. But then again there’s references to Kate being dead in Gta 5 but I still stand by my opinion. I’m so sorry Roman.
In my opinion, Niko has learned more or less about revenge being bad whenever he kills Darko or lets him suffer. When he and Roman are driving away: when he pulled the trigger, he says that he feels empty and he can't notice difference in his life; when Niko let Darko go, Niko complains about making so much effort finding Darko not to kill him, but when he talk with Roman, he finally comes to conclusion that he made right thing. Moreover, killing Dimitri was not only about getting revenge. It was also about securing his and Roman's safety

This depression fact can also be signified by the camera movements. In revenge ending the statue of happiness is shown from front while in deal ending the statue is shown from back, which may show that the deal ending is more depressing through visuals.

My personal reason for choosing Revenge is poetic Justice. Although I did hit him with a bat, killing him on the Platypus, after realizing that that was the ship that took Niko to Liberty to begin with and then killing the Peg at the Statue of Happiness. It really made me feel like Niko was reclaiming his life in LC
It was obvious Dimitri couldn't be trusted. Doing the deal would have been an obvious mistake, choosing deal would have made Niko just as blind as everyone else, revenge needed to be done to end that conflict how it needed to end. How am I gonna miss the opportunity to kill him? He obviously wants to kill me. Also Roman in GTA 6.

In San Andreas Vice City characters appeared but Vercetti was scrapped. It's hard to write stories. Side character's will make a return 100%. Rockstar limited their freedom with the universe barriers but if they let it slide it they got Vice City characters or reasons on why people from Liberty City and San Andreas are in Vice City now.
I'm sorry but you didn't quite understand Niko and Kate's relationship... If you date her just a couple of times then what you said is true. But canonically Niko is supposed to become very close to her as he says to Roman that "there's this girl I really like... She is called Kate McReary". And Kate also likrs him a lot as she says to him during one of their dates that she really likes him and if she was ready for a relationship she wanted it to be with him. The reason why they both were so in love with each other despite not even sleeping together once, is because they both could be themselves with each other. They both grew up in fucked up families so they both had an hard life. They both had high moral standards and they just enjoyed each other's company. Kate wasn't just another cheap girl like those you can find online in-game. In Revenge ending before Roman's wedding Niko and Kate finally get together as they say during their dialogue to the church, and you can see that they were behaving like a couple at Roman's wedding before she gets killed. Kate only dumps Niko in Deal because he showed her that he got over his principles for money in that ending, deciding to be a criminal forever. That doesn't happen in Revenge where Niko thought that by killing Dimitri he had finally cut his connections with the underworld and was ready to be good and live like a normal person with Kate, which make Kate accept to be his girlfriend. Comparing their relationship to Trevor and Patricia is just ridiculous... Niko and Kate's relationship was way deeper. Still Revenge remains a better ending for GTA 4.

Honorable Reasons for Revenge Ending:
1.Niko can be your dad in GTA online
2. Rumor has it that in Bully 2 we will meet Niko at the graveyard of liberty city, where Niko is waiting for Kate Mcreary's and if you approach him you will be given a mission where every mission you will be taught the movements of the Serbian army (same as the hobo moves in bully 1)

In my first gameplay I killed Darko and choosed the deal, I got depressed by the ending. Then I immediately started a new game right from the beginning and not killed Darko and choosed revenge. still depressing ending but not more than the other ending.

Main reasons to pick revenge:-
1) It is slightly happier than deal, because losing a family is more heartbreaking than losing a friend.
2) Roman lives. Thus, You can use Roman's free taxi rides to save your time.
3) In deal, even if Kate lives, she cant be dated anymore. So its better to sacrifice her, although it will break Packie's heart.
4) Revenge ending is canon, as per GTA 5 easter egg.
5) Mallorie will be revealed pregnant, so letting Roman live will help him stay with his child.
6) Its better to stay away from Pegorino's greed and take him out afterwards, rather than regret doing the deal with him and then taking out Dimitri, instead of him.
7) In deal, Dimitri will betray the buyers and keep the Heroin for himself (which is shown in cutscene of Revenge, where Dimitri was loading the stolen heroin on Platypus). Dimitri should be given award for betraying most people (even Darko is better than him). So its better to kill him at Platypus, so that he wont betray anyone else further.

Whenever I play GTA 4 I pick revenge ending and after executing Dimitri I empty a full SMG magazine on his dead body.
I ultimately go with revenge. Niko would never make a deal with Dimitri after being betrayed by him. It's not even a matter of personal vendetta against him, but that Dimitri not someone to be trusted. Kate's death is still very sad, especially when talking to packie on the phone afterward.
in revenge ending, jimmy pegorino's death is avoidable if he just leave niko alone and not to tamper him in his cousin's wedding day, but since he attacked the wedding day of his cousin and kills his girlfriend kate, endangered the lives of the guests and the couple in the wedding, which angered niko bellic to avenge the death of kate mcreary and kills jimmy pegorino

More than that, he's under a lot of pressure from the cops bc Anthony was rat. And he also killed all remaining Ray Boccino crew as well as Ray, and some members of Pegorino family (or shall I say glorified crew) in jail already. And more than that commission would never accepted them. I think Jimmy should have send other guys with phil and if Dimitri screws him over let Niko to take Dimitri out but he wasn't able to think rational at the time.

Here's more logical reasons:
1. Why should Niko help Dimitri after witnessing every partners getting betrayed, himself included.
2. Aside from the money what else could benefit him doing the deal.
3. Nobody cares for Pegorino and he never scratches your back, only offers jobs but that's it. There's no point of offering any loyalty to Pegorino, especially when he's got trust issues with his own gang and as said before he's selfish. (Also, Peg stabs you in the back either ways.)
4. It was a delay to the inevitable, as if either Niko or Dimitri were going to forgive each other. The game of hunt or be hunted ends with one of them dead.
5. Keeping Dimitri alive, could keep everyone he cares about in danger. Sure it mainly kept Roman in danger, but if Dimitri knows other loved ones, he'll do whatever it takes to bring Niko down.
The Revenge Ending (happy ending) is canon because if you look up in the sky, you can see fire in the air so that could be Bulgarin's plane.

Though it's sad that Katie dies in Revenge, Roman is an iconic and therefore a much more canonical character than her in GTA IV. It's sad that you have to choose between the two, but Niko loses Kate either way so..

Roman tells you to take the deal and Kate tells you not. So if you choose revenge, you technically choos Kate’s advice not Romans. Keep in mind that Niko didn’t know the consequence of his choice before the tragedies.
Revenge is the superior ending, because yeah, Niko loses someone close to him, but at the end of the game, Niko can still hang out with Roman, and use his Free taxi services, and putting an end to Dimitri's reign of terror will save Niko and His family.
I chose deal because I wanted Niko to forget about revenge and Roman also advices you to forgive Dimitri and I listened to him... so technically I did something for Roman which got him killed...

Probably no one noticed this, but in the revenge ending the statue of liberty is seen front of you when the camera goes up after killing pegorino, while in the deal ending the statue is seen by the back meaning you've done the wrong choice
Tbh i personally prefer the Deal ending just because the impact that it has on the story, most people pick deal just because thats the lesser of two evils considering that all together she was the less developed character out of both, she kinda just showed and Niko started getting feelings for her so when she dies and Niko acts devastated its difficult for the player to simpatyze with it. But with Roman dying thats a whole different story just because of the implications of his death. He was the person to welcome Niko into america and dispite lying about his life he was more than whiling to share what little he had with Niko, he was cought in the crossfire with Dimitri by being shot, having his apartment and bussines burned, getting beaten up and kidnapped just to bait Niko out so his death being the last push that makes Niko snap after all his ordeal finding Darko seems fitting to end this tragic story.
Sad fact: In the deal ending dimitri actually send one of his men to kill niko, but niko was capable to push it back, which killed roman. Giving the feel roman died cause of niko.

Problem with the "deal" ending is that you get the money just 2 missions earlier. You get the money in the revenge ending anyway.

My only problem with the 'Revenge' ending is you don't get to hear "Welcome to America." I get that Pegorino isn't an immigrant like Dimitri and Niko but Michael Hollick's delivery is just so epic. It could have been Pegorino yelling about how he's the boss and Niko's just some penniless grunt off the boat so this isn't how it should go, then Niko tells him, "Welcome to America. That's capitalism, Jimmy."

I almost feel like Niko is showing Dimitri that despite the fact that he took everything from him, he understands him. I feel like given everything that Dimitri did, "Welcome to America" has less of an impact than what Niko said to Jimmy (who had only become Niko's enemy out of circumstance) which let's face it was a cruel dig.

jimmy pegorino does not consider himself an immigrant because he was born in US while his ancestors are completely immigrants too from italy because of their surname, he considers niko an immigrant because he was not born in US soil and therefore came to US by cargo ship by means of illegal enter of the country

I saw the deal ending on TH-cam, and it's the most sad mission in the GTA series. Not a good ending at all. So I recommend a lot to kill Dimitri in the revenge mission.
I actually like the deal missions. The reason why is because it fits perfectly with the story and since gta 4 has such a dark atmosphere if would make sense.
@@ss64vids84 It doesn't fit with the story at all. It goes completely against Niko's Character. He promised he would kill Dimitri. Dimitri tried to kill him and Roman countless times through the story. He also tried to Kill Bernie. There is no reason for Niko to assume that Dimitri will not try to kill them again. He knows that Dimitri betrays everyone, even his best friend. And he also knows that Pegerino's missons always go horribly wrong. And by that time he has more than enough money already. It was also shown during "The Holland Play" that Niko prefers to do the right thing instead of getting a whole bunch of money. And when he has the phone calls with Kate and Roman, Kate is the voice of reason and not Roman. Because although Roman is the voice of reason in multiple occasions through the story, he also has his own flaws, the biggest being his greed and naivety. That was exactly his motivation for advising Niko to work again with Dimitri. Whereas Kate doesn't want to gain something from that situation, she just wants to help Niko do the right thing.

@@ss64vids84 I get your point, but the Revenge ending is also pretty sad. Kate would be the perfect woman for Niko, since she knows about his past and it's not a dealbreaker for her. She would still mary Niko as long as he leaves that life behind. Her family would have lost another member. And Roman and Mallorie's wedding day would always been overshadowed by the tragic event that occured back then. Either way, Niko will feel guilty and regret that he didn't take the other choice, falsley believing it would not have ended in a tragedy that way.

I just never really felt any connection with her or anything but yes I'll admit that for niko it's pretty sad seeing as he finally found someone he could be with but then she ends up dying. Also Pegorino isn't a bad antagonist but I don't feel as if he's the main one we've been trying to kill. The person who cause Niko a lot of pain was Dimitri Rascalov. Throughout the whole game he was the one person that Niko hated with a passion after he fucked Niko over, kidnapped his cousin and even tried many times to kill him and also Bernie.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE GTA GAME. I SPENT THOUSANDS HOURS IN THIS. I LOVE IT.
Seems like everybody is shitting on Kate for some reason, I don't understand why. Yes, I've also always picked Revenge, because it's the better ending, but that doesn't mean Kate was bad and people shouldn't hate on the character.
Kate never hurt anyone, never committed any crimes, she was honest and compassionate with Niko and she was simply a good person. She had a tough life, growing up with an alcoholic father, who was nice to her, but did bad things to her brothers. All her brothers, apart from one (though that's debatable with Francis), were criminals. One was recently killed, one was recently locked up for a very long time. Her remaining brothers are drug addicts and she has an old mother that she was taking care of. Kate also suffered from depression throughout her adult life.
Kate wanted to live a normal life, settle down with a nice man, have children and work as a school teacher. This is why at first, she only considered Niko a friend, as she didn't want to date a criminal. However, if you dated her throughout the game, her and Niko would get closer and slowly fall for each other. During dates, she would even admit she liked Niko and if they were both ready for a relationship, she would want to be with him. She would also get frustrated by Niko continuing his life of crime, as she made it clear that this was the barrier between them. The reason was simple, she was worried Niko would end up being killed or sent to prison, and she would be forced to raise their children without their father.
The choice we have to make at the end of the game is basically our last chance to prove to Kate that Niko really cares about her and wants to be with her. By taking a risk and doing the Deal, we effectively put the money over our morals and principles, which is a deal breaker for Kate, as her patience runs out with Niko and she decides he simply can't be the one for her, because he's clearly not willing to give up his criminal life. She chooses to distance herself from Niko despite loving him, as she thinks the relationship cannot work.
If we choose Revenge instead, Kate is happy, because she knows Niko is closing the book on his criminal life in order to settle down with her and live a normal, happy life. This is the moment she finally accepts Niko as her serious love interest. Tragically, at this very moment, Kate is taken away.
Kate was Niko's biggest hope for a better life. Sadly, the game forces you to either blow your chance with her, or to be accepted by her, but lose her forever shortly afterwards. As such, neither ending is really a good ending. Yes, Revenge is better, because Roman lives and Niko makes the right decision regarding dealing with Dimitri. However, the best option would be to ignore the deal completely and move on with our life. Sadly, the game doesn't give us that option. Perhaps Niko and his family wouldn't be safe if he decided to just run away.

I love that the statue of liberty is in that shot when Mallorie tells you about Roman will never see his child (if he dies). I hate that ending, I kind of can't stand Kate anyway, but Roman is your blood. But when he says "Your child will never have to worry about anything" (implying Niko will not only financially support Mallorie and the child but also protect them as well -- or try to) with the statue of liberty in the background that's like poetic almost. The land of the free. The home of the brave. And either ending regardless is just so sad. This is not my favorite GTA game but replaying it again now like 15 years later I am definitely enjoying it more the second time around even if the relationships system is kind of grindy and boring.
