It should be noted Scar was named after the very first leader of the lion guard, Askari. And another note is the venom made him evil, by fueling his anger and jealousy, etc. When Kion got bit, he received help to recover. But if he hadn't, he could have become another Scar. And if Scar had the help Kion had, instead of being over looked and mocked, he may have never become a villain.
The venom brought out Scar's desire for power, his greediness, his jealousy and annoyance towards Mufasa. However, the bite and resulting venom only removes moral restraints and amplifies negative traits and desires; for example, his jealously and annoyance for Mufasa had already existed, but the venom that brought it out more eventually turned it into murderous hatred. So, it doesn't create Scar's evil, only reveals it.
I've heard differently, that Scar's name was originally Taka (which is mentioned in this video, btw) and translates to 'garbage'. Askari actually means 'police officer'. So Scar actually wasn't named after Askari.
@@CinemaSongscovers I mean it could be either 1. Neither confirmed it. The Taka one is fan made books that disney allowed to be published that are non-canon. Lion Guard is canon and disney made and does not confirm Scar's birth name
You know at first, I felt confused and frustrated on how Scar's backstory showed that Mufasa appeared to mock Scar for taking down a potential threat to the Pridelands. But eventually I remembered what Rafiki said about the venom. It makes the victim lose their mind, unable to tell the difference between right and wrong. So I believe it was due to the venom, along with it amplifying with his negative thoughts, that made Scar believe a simple 'good job' and a harmless joke, were a terrible insult to desire revenge. But now I wonder, this is Scar we're talking about. What other things has he said, that we can know for sure, is the truth?

Scar's origin is interesting since there's more than one version. I believe the story of Taka getting his signature scar from an encounter with a water buffalo after he tried to embarrass Mufasa was true because it stayed true to the character and his raging jealousy towards his brother (although it's not considered canon). The one that was told in the Lion Guard was partially false because I believe it was a way for Scar to seem superior and sympathetic. Think about it this way, Scar has a narcissistic personality since he always finds others to blame for his failures which is proven when he tried to blame the hyenas when Simba learned the truth about Mufasa's death so he could buy his nephew's sympathy, but it didn't work. The origin that was told in the Lion Guard was false because Scar was the one telling the story. Sticking to his narcissism, Scar was not portrayed in a negative way and seemed a lot more sympathetic due to him being the one who was sharing his "origin" in order to keep his followers by his side. Also, he took pride in destroying his Lion Guard and blamed Mufasa for giving him his nickname which Scar requested to be called in his original origin. The water buffalo incident was Scar's true origin because it was told by someone else, Rafiki who keeps track of the Pride Lands' history through his paintings and is known for being truthful along with giving helpful advice. It makes sense that Taka got his signature scar after failing to embarrass Mufasa because it show that his jealousy can be his own undoing. The part involving Scar destroying his Lion Guard and losing the Roar of the Elders was true since it was depicted in Rafiki's paintings as told by Simba when he was teaching Kion about the Lion Guard's history. I believe that Scar was so embarrassed by his failures that he sought to tell any story to make him seem strong and sympathetic towards others to get them on his side. But that's just my theory.
A few things I want to point out 1: the book mentioned here is called “a tale of 2 brothers”, not “A tale of 2 lions”. 2: the book was published in 1994 3: his song in the lion guard is called “When I led the guard” not “how I became Scar” 4: it is never actually stated that Scar’s name was Askari, that is simply a popular fan speculation, Askari is a completely different character and the 1st leader of the lion guard. 5: Scar destroyed the guard after Mufasa gave him the nickname “Scar” 6: the only rule of the roar is that you cannot use it for evil. There is nothing about using it against lions, that’s simply something Zira said to manipulate Kion. 7: it’s called the elephant graveyard, not the elephant boneyard 8: it is never said that Scar was exiled or that he lived with the hyenas.

And even shows that he's not tragic at all. However, this backfired, as he was only to be teased by his older brother with the nickname of "Scar", which makes him give up the search for a cure for the venom given by the cobra despite the fact he knew the existence of such a cure, showing Scar's lack of forgiveness to his older brother and pettiness, and showing how he is not a tragic character in the slightest, openly embracing his negative traits coming out.
Ahadi was not the only one who made Scar's life miserable, Mufasa too. Scar was probably mocked and despised by everyone because of his bony appearance. I believe the biggest proof is in the opening moments of the Lion King 1994. After Mufasa confronts Scar for not attending Simba's presentation, Zazu says he would make a very "handsome throw rug" . Despite that horrible description for his blood brother, Mufasa bothers not to demand respect for Scar not only as his brother in the royal family but also as a person, but instead he chuckles and walks away. That one event speaks volumes.
oh my God I never really paid attention to that scene (but I've seen the movie before), but that's so sad. that's so rude to Scar. man Scar really deserved better
I find it hilarious how we always turn to the older Disney animated villains as examples of unsympathetic evil because the movies portray them as such, but most (if not all) of them have a ton of unresolved emotional trauma that pushed them over the edge or were technically right to antagonize the good guys on some level.
Well yeah we were like what, 5-10?? Now since most of us are grown and understand more now, we can see the truth yk. And yea most of the time the "villain" is just broken but there are some that are just evil.
My favorite Disney movie is The Lion King, and both versions of Scar’s scar are both great stories. In the Lion Guard, it’s said that the venom from the snake poisons Scar’s mind, and that would’ve been Kion’s fate after he was struck by a simile snake if he didn’t get a remedy. Love this content. Keep Up the great work!

@@jasminkrieger8464 Well, in the show, Aladdin and Mozenrath are not brothers, only enemies. You shouldn't listen to rumours. Since Morgana, her mother and the army are Ursula's species, it shows that they're not related to Triton at all. However, the real responsible for Scar becoming bad was Scar himself, as he opted to embrace the effects of the venom and didn't search a cure for himself, in addition that he had already been shown jealous of Mufasa's position as King of the Pride Lands before. Indeed, the venom only aided to release Scar's darkest thoughts, so Scar was never a victim to begin with.
This truly reminds me heavily of Loki. Both have horrible brothers that are loved by everyone solely for existing and are treated like they are lesser, also just by existing. I mean, Mufasa seems like an amazing father, but he was still a dreadful brother figure.
Mufasa was not a bad brother, he simply demanded Scar to take on the duty and responsibilities that Scar must. If you knew Lion culture you would know that it is rare to 2 brother to survive the wilderness together when they get cast. Considering that Mufasa was the fighter and worker, it is obvious that Mufasa protected Scar throughout their wilderness travels. And if not for Mufasa, Scar would have died. Knowing this reality makes Scar and when worst villain for killing the very brother that keeps him alive.
So loki and scar treated like a middle child is Parents let the oldest do what they want let the youngest get away with things but yet the middle child has the most pressure on them and is sometimes the one left out of most things/
Monsters are not made out of random. They are often made by the actions or inactions of those around them, the environment around them, or the lack of assistance from those they love or trust when going through a dark time.
Even though The Lion Guard's backstory for Scar is technically canon, I still prefer all the fan theories the TLK community has made! For example, Scar getting his scar from Ahadi, being named Taka, etc.
I feel these theories don’t actually add anything. Sometimes people are evil because they are ambitious and power hungry without having some terrible and tragic backstory to justify it. There have been many dictators and authoritarian rulers who came from normal and even privileged backgrounds that were solely motivated by the desire for power and in the Lion King, Scar seems to be motivated by desire for power and jealousy, which are justification enough. He doesn’t need to be a tragic hero.
After double-crossing and slaughtering the lion, he reported to Mufasa, spinning the narrative in his favor to make him look like a hero, in order to garner sympathy and to be seen as superior to his brother. However, this backfired, as he was only to be teased by his older brother with the nickname of "Scar", which makes him give up the search for a cure for the venom given by the cobra despite the fact he knew the existence of such a cure, showing Scar's lack of forgiveness to his older brother and pettiness, and showing how he is not a tragic character in the slightest, openly embracing his negative traits coming out.
no he's still a villain he conspired to take the throne and you see what his way of ruling got the people disorder and famine it's actively evil for a leader to lead his people into famine. Hollywood been doing this a lot trying to make villains have reasons and sympathetic causes your reason doesn't mean anything what you have done is still evil and in the end you are responsible for your actions can feel sorry for him still though but he got that because he was still evil
Tell that to every single psychopath that's being raised by a perfectly NORMAL family and yet starts mutilating and killing animals and bullying other children at the age of 4 or so 😂 There is PLENTY of people born 'evil'. Except they definitely are much, much more rare than those who were made monsters by society, life, and so on.
I wouldn't say people are born evil, but sometimes the evil that people commit has nothing to do with them having some sort of "tragic backstory" or trauma. Sometimes people are just overcome by their own jealousy, pride, hunger for power, etc.
@@Sapphiresenthiss Psychopath arent necessarily born evil, they born with defective mental capacity to differentiate what's wrong or right. It's not they're born evil, they're just born with mental disability. Learn the difference.
Actually Askari was the first leader of the lion guard totally different lion. We never get Scar’s really name in the lion guard all we know is that muffasa gave him that nickname letting us know that his real name is something different.
Askari was confirmed by Ford Riley who was the head of Lion Guard. Scar has had two names thus far but as far as movies are concerned, Askari and Taka are not canon and he's always been only Scar.
I'm kinda working my way through Lion Guard, so I hadn't seen much of the Scar fire spirit (I've seen the ep where he shows the past, and how he supposedly got his scar, though), but I personally don't mind any of the backstories being canon. Scar is just my fave TLK villain and I just love how intimidating he looks at times. I'm more ticked off at how the live action TLK ruined everything, and not just Scar. They ruined his song by making it a mere chant, and since his song is my fave Disney villain song of all time...Yeah, I'm ticked about that. Side thing I've kinda noticed: It is interesting how it appears that only the villainous lions from TLK always have their claws out, while the others don't, haha. I noticed that while watching vids with these clips and it's just so interesting how they always have their claws, and chars like Mufasa only showcase theirs when in combat or trying to grab things. Maybe I missed some other cases of the good guys always having them shown, but it's just a tiny detail I found rather fascinating for some odd reason.
This is what gets to me about Disney's movies. We rarely get any backstory, not for the hero, not for the damsel in distress, but a backstory for the villains. I wanna know what makes someone like Frollo or Scar tick, why they are the way they are. They could make some decent bank on filling in the missing pages of the stories they've told before.
Every evil person has his back story and reasons. It doesn't matter. On a personal level one might sympathize and have compassion, because redemption might be possible. But evil is evil and calling 'evil' 'not so evil' is evil.
Scar most definitely was bullied and looked down upon by Mufasa and pretty much everyone but the hyenas during his years as a cub. He likely knew the hyena trio when they were all still very young after stumbling into the Elephant graveyard by accident but was never harmed because he was an ‘outcast’ like them. There are many other characters that would relate to him strongly like Arthur Fleck and Vegeta.
If you knew about a lions journey that every male Lion must take. You'll realize that Mufasa actually cared enough about his brother to keep his brother safe and not die. In those journeys the lions like mufasa life, the lions like Scar (probably most) die. Brothers can go off together, if both survive they run it together. But mufasa straight up kept them alive.

Yeah, in the lion guard TV show they never revealed what he's real name was. And if you Google the name Askari it shows that he was the first leader of the lion guard, it also has a photo of him that proves that they are two different lion's. 🦁🦁
What about Big Jack Horner? Is he a joke to you? And you have many examples like him, it’s called pure evil and it‘s a thing, and fortunately because the pallet of villains types would be pretty annoyingly boring and disappointing never having one who is truly evil and always trying to excuse and empathize them. Even in real life you have people who simply just are as***Ie
Doesn't take away the fact that your responsible for your own actions. Trauma doesn’t justify bad behavior, especially what he did to Mufasa, Simba and the whole environment.
Lion Guard shouldn't really be considered cannon. Even if we want to ignore that it throws the 'Circle of Life' and the tone of mostly realistic/vague naturalistic mysticism out the window for super hero animals. The whole indication that Scar had no relationship with his father ("You know a sort of father son... thing... " ) doesn't add up with him being named 'soldier' and being given an important role in the pride that inherently would have meant being trained with this father. Despite the whole Vitani thing, it's pretty clear the guard is typically made up of male lines, and this matches with male lions being the protectors of the pride irl. So... who do we suspect would have trained Scar to be a soldier? ... The original back story offered by the books makes far more sense, for Scar to feel the disconnect between himself and his father, family, and the pride itself. Plus the scar makes more sense. The only thing weirder than Kovu getting a vertical scar when he gets swiped horizontally, is Scar and Kion getting a slash scar from a snake bite, which should result in a puncture, not a cut or tear... you know, besides ignoring how ridiculous is that there's a snake with venom that instead of killing or at least making animals sick (so it could... you know ... eat ) that it just makes them angry and aggressive.
As a kid thought it as black and white text book of evil , as an adult and hearing more about his back story I see him as a Cautionary tale of letting one's Arrogance get out of hand. he thought he could do better than mufusa and he wanted to be king so bad he never realized how delicate their food chain was
If ya are looking for someone to have the title of the worst uncle in Disney history. Ya might wants to look up belos. That guy is straight up evil. He killed his brother for loving a witch, and than killed him. But then kept making clones of his brother but then killed him again. And kept doing this for 350 years
Correction for a 'fact' that I commonly see in Scar fun facts: The word Taka in Swahili means 'garbage' but the name Taka in Swahili means 'To Want' which makes more sense to his character.
I think that's a matter of opinion. However, I will mention that of all the Disney villains, Scar is the only one who actually succeeded with his plan. He actually filled the roll of King after he had Simba run off. His reign did come to an end, of course, when Simba returned, but that's beside the point.
But people dont like the new star wars they prefer like me the lukas books continuation i mean Disney completly killed the Skywalker bloodline off unless rey had a child with kylo ren shes palpatine line and we saw a boy have jedi powers a random one cleaning ouside
Honestly looking at scars backstory i kinda wish i could take him away from the world lives in and take him away to another leaderless pride of lions to rule over

However, the bite and resulting venom only removes moral restraints and amplifies negative traits and desires; for example, his annoyance for Mufasa had already existed, but the venom that brought it out more eventually turned it into murderous hatred. However, having the Roar made Askari feel powerful, and that power eventually went to his head. Because of this, Askari grew to become quite arrogant, preferring to go out on patrols all alone instead of with his team and always expecting to be praised for his actions, showing little to no respect for his teammates. Scar also conveniently omitting the fact that he planned to team up with one of them to overthrow Mufasa from him. Though the venom in his scar may have influenced his evil nature, Scar was already proven to be envious and power-hungry before being infected as he was willing to work with the Strange Lion to overthrow Mufasa as king due to his jealousy. There's also the fact that, unlike his grand-nephew Kion, Scar didn't seek any treatment for the venom that was infecting him and allowed himself to fall into depravity. Furthermore, while Kion became prone to anger, he did not turn evil as Scar did, showing that Scar became evil of his own choice. Therefore, he still had a moral agency. So you see, Scar's backstory doesn't make him tragic at all.
The original i heard about scar was he had a step father and his step father had Mufasa and made him the heir when Scar was 1st born from his late father. And his step father scratched his eye in a fight.
Askari is an Arabic word [Persian loanword] for soldier (it was the name of Aisha's Command Camel at the Battle of Basra -- aka the Battle of the Camel), but only for servant soldiers drawn from native populations, never European troops (the word was also used to mean "gun bearer," the "caddy" for the great white hunter on safari. * * * * * If these had been real lions, Scar would likely have been the Alpha. Dark maned lions typically have more testosterone.
Everyone is talking about The Lion Guard, but shouldn't someone talk about The Lion King Live Action? Mufasa: "Is that a challenge?" Scar: "I wouldn't want to fight my dear brother..... again. His name being "Taka" is a non-canon statement from a book that wasn't written by Disney. His name being "Askari" is debatable. It's only true if you consider The Lion Guard to be canon, which would rule out the most important thing of all: His fight with Mufasa. Besides, if the venom in his scar made Scar turn evil, then how can you say the same for Kion? It took him many months of journeying to get to the Tree of Life, yet he hadn't turned evil yet. I'd say it's a retcon for how much time Kion actually had before he would turn evil. And what about Rani? We don't know how she got her scar, but for all we know, it could be venom too. It doesn't make any sense to even be slightly canon...... If Scar really did fight Mufasa, then shouldn't that be the obvious reason for how he really got his scar?
Everyone, Scar was named Scar by Mufasa. His name was Askari. And this is present on an episode from the Lion Guard show. After defending his territory from a rogue lion and a venomous snake (from whom he received his scar after being attacked), Askari returned to Mufasa to report of his success fighting the threats off but, instead of being congratulated by his brother, all Askari got was a poor joke and being nicknamed Scar by Mufasa. Since aparently Mufasa was always treating Askari like someone inferior and aproaching his achievements with a joking tone (which made Askari feel like he wasnt apreciated and that Mufasa had a "superiority complex" because he was the one being crowned king) Askari got sick of it. The venom from the snake who bit him and gave him the scar made everything far worse because said venom alters the victim's personality and makes them uncapable of distinguishing "right from wrong", etc etc, and with all the anger and frustration he felt because of Mufasa, Askari embraced his new nickname "Scar" and proceeded to live in hatred and seek for his long awaited revenge.
Though the venom in his scar may have influenced his evil nature, Scar was already proven to be envious and power-hungry before being infected as he was willing to work with another lion to overthrow Mufasa as king due to his jealousy. There's also the fact that unlike Kion, Scar didn't seek any treatment for the venom that was infecting him and allowed himself to fall into depravity. Furthermore, while Kion became prone to anger, he didn’t turn toward what Scar did and showed remorse each time his temper flared, showing that he became that way by choice. The venom brought out Scar's desire for power, his greediness, his jealousy and annoyance towards Mufasa. However, the bite and resulting venom only removes moral restraints and amplifies negative traits and desires; for example, his annoyance and jealously for Mufasa had already existed, but the venom that brought it out more eventually turned it into murderous hatred. I love it, it's great story in my opinion that is very applicable in the real world, the amount of cruelty and lack of empathy people seem to have towards others without knowing seemingly malicious acts usually have a good reason behind them. If people forgave and helped one another rather than continue the cycle of revenge that usually ends in destruction in both parties, I think things wouldn't be the same.
Honestly I am more sick of new stuff turning old heroes into villains and old villains into misunderstood characters. People go on and on about 80s villains being sad and lame, but I will take one of those guys any day of the week, because they where 99% of the time bad guys, knew they where bad guys, and loved being bad guys, no someone who do a bunch of messed up stuff because they didn't get enough hugs.
Scar is just as much a villian as Cain and should be seen as one. He let resentment breed where resentment didn't need to be. "Oh but he was hurt and betrayed." No, figure yourself out, then talk with the people that love you in a way that they would understand. I could see Scar taking the arrogant Mufasa on a hunt and trying to explain his situation after their first conversation. Even if Mufasa still laughs it off he might think, so speaking to him a day after that might yield results. Try at least three times on most things before proclaiming betrayal or else you'll end up betraying your loved ones by not trying hard enough.
Scar has been treated very badly. In The Lion Guard Scar admits how the venom turns you evil. If Scar had gotten help like how Kion did I'm very sure he wouldn't have turned evil. If you pay attention in The Lion Guard Kion turns a bit mean and even uses the roar against his partner/friend but still his power isn't taken away but for some reason Scar's power is. If Kion turned evil like Scar I'm sure he would've gotten help from his family/friends. This just shows how Lions in the pride just didn't have respect for Scar and we're willing to throw him away the second they got the chance.
Pretty much zira and sarafina liked scar through so uru but well thats techically it mufasa was complicated with scar he cared and dont cared in between i mean like Zeus mufasa and Zeus meiner bothered to ask what is wrong with Hades and scar they both mocked them only thor at least asked loki what the Heck was wrong even if it didnt helped
I've read a Lion King fancomic on DeviantArt titled Missing Pieces, it gives it's own explanations on what happened inbetween the events of the movies, tv shows and comic books, such as why Scar turned out the way he did.
This is the beauty of how the lion king handled it's villain. Tragic or not, he got his chance when he got to be king. Were he a good king he would have easily kept the throne. But he thrashed his chance by being a sucky king
I don't think it was ever "what he did" that made him a villain inherently. But moreso his character in general. Staying in the shadows in retreat. Or disrespecting those weaker than him, even his own. Along with only flexing his muscle when he was sure he had the edge over his opposition. You can say he was evil or that maybe he was just smart/clever, but either way, those are still villainous attributes as opposed to heroic. A hero stands against odds in the face of a tyrant, a villain stalks behind the eye of a beloved king.
There is a difference between evil and a villain as well. Scar is a villain that committed evil acts but I don't believe he is anywhere near the embodiment of it
The books aren’t canon, they weren’t written by Disney. Disney just allowed the writers to use their characters. Taka was never Askari, that was a different lion. Mufasa didn’t make a mockery of Scar, he just jokingly called him Scar when thanking him. But Scar interpreted things wrong. Scar didn’t “take care” of the hyenas. He manipulated them and needed them to obey him. He was not stronger than an entire clan of hyenas. He knew that. So he “made friends” and got close the the leaders and gave them food as a way to get them to depend on him. “You won’t get a sniff without me”. He obviously didn’t like them and thought of them as disgusting idiots and that much is clear just from his first on screen interaction with them. Also Taka could also mean “To want”. Since Scar always wanted what his brother wanted, that makes more sense. Although Taka has never been confirmed as his name.
Nice indepth description. But even with the shows and books, that isn't how prides work. There can only be one male in them so I never seen an issue with Scar being outcast. I thought he was just a relative trying to take his brother's pride from him since he couldn't take any other prides. Therefore even though it was sad Mufasa passed; however, theoretically, Simba could never become Pride leader because Lions banish their sons after they peak a certain age.
Lets not forget, that said poison in his bite wound was never treated, so it could be argued that his mind was slowly being poisoned and allowed evil and sinister thoughts into his head and Mufasa giving Scar his nickname instead of praise, thats where it started and led him down the path.
I dont realy like the lion guard take on scar its a bit too much magic weirdnes and tries to redeem him wich i realy dislike about disney just keep the vilains real vilains its Cool that scar is this vilain who plots and uses the hyenas to make up for his lack of strengt used his smartnes and cunning skills
yh me too, I hate the random element of "magic", feels out of place. I'd rather it have been mufasa was always favourited and scar left out and the backstory be centred around this idea rather than some random magic snake 😭
After i listen the song about when I lead a guard, I find it that it’s turn out that the scar right eye was injured by the snake and… I can’t remember the rest…
Those are good theories, but unfortunately these are not confirmed canon by Disney. The one theory with the water buffalo I don’t believe it to be true. If Scar would’ve been attacked by the water buffalo, he would’ve been stabbed by the buffalo’s horns which would most likely leave Scar with a hole above his left eye. The theory with the Lion Guard, it was a cobra that bit Scar and the same thing happened to Kion later on. If you were to have the two videos side by side, you can see that Kion had a scar that has two lines above the eyebrow and one line below the eyelid, but the cobra that bit Scar would’ve been the same thing with the two lines above the eyebrow and one line below the eyelid. If that theory were to be true, Scar would’ve had the same scar that Kion had. There is another theory that you didn’t include in the video. In the live action version of The Lion King when Mufasa talks to Scar, Scar said that he wouldn’t dream on challenging Mufasa again. This points out Mufasa must’ve given Scar that scar, but I’m not sure if that’s canon either.
I say it does because you kinda forgot about kions scar he started to lose control of himself he almost lost the ability to tell right from wrong just like scar did but scar lost his ability
I always said that scar/taka was a misunderstood character in the lion king, he’s not really evil just broken on the inside. I feel bad because his father ahadi and brother mufasa hated him ever since he was born by saying it”I want nothing to do with him he’s useless” and mufasa picking on him. Lion king is a dark movie in my opinion. Nobody cared about him except for his mom uru. Scar deserves to be king over mufasa.
Mufasa tried in lion king 1 movie to be a bit better in lion guard he wasnt a nice brother to scar bit was already to late he Made scar bitter hate him and the pioson didnt help the case either way mufasa never even noticed the change After scars so called scar never asked his brother how he got it or asked what happend to your lion guard why do you have Lost tue Guardian mark roar of elders he simple let scar be eith his troubles not even sayed to him that scar is not his birthname tue most cruel part was mufasa continuied to Name call him After that mock nickname scar never using his real bane like scar is not worth it he wanted scar to be in Simba birth ceremony but did he show his brother any kindness or that he cared they both argued only i blame the father because i know the father Made one brother envy the other
Mufasa lokked betrayed by scar in his death Moment brother help me in the german dub but he shouldnt be surprised by this i mean mufasa never realized how scars hatred envy grow i epuldmt say greed for Power tue fact that scar wanted to be king is finally ne loved by the others like mufasa he couldnt get his fathers love and other lionesses or lions mocked him to that mufasa was better than him even sarabi and zazu told him that to face the only lion who actually liked scar was zira and her lionesses who were banished and sarafina she liked him to before she and nalas father got together while scar liked sarabi but she had only eyes for mufasa we get that from the live Action reboot were scar kinda talks the issue out we got more info for that
I think sarafina had a one sided love on scar same as he for sarabi than they were cubs hmm mheetu is still a diskussion if hes nalas father son or scars they still debate in the deleted Chara to this day
It should be noted Scar was named after the very first leader of the lion guard, Askari.
So true
@@DinosaurNick 9
I have never thought about that

But that's just my theory.
we are getting a comic book series based on the lion king. Scar.
@Rachel Jackson I pre-ordered a copy at my local comic book store. So let's see what they do with him
A FILM THEORY!!!!
That is a reasonable theory
i feel like the water buffalo should have taken his whole eye out instead of just leaving that little scar
A few things I want to point out
1: the book mentioned here is called “a tale of 2 brothers”, not “A tale of 2 lions”.
2: the book was published in 1994
3: his song in the lion guard is called “When I led the guard” not “how I became Scar”
4: it is never actually stated that Scar’s name was Askari, that is simply a popular fan speculation, Askari is a completely different character and the 1st leader of the lion guard.
5: Scar destroyed the guard after Mufasa gave him the nickname “Scar”
6: the only rule of the roar is that you cannot use it for evil. There is nothing about using it against lions, that’s simply something Zira said to manipulate Kion.
7: it’s called the elephant graveyard, not the elephant boneyard
8: it is never said that Scar was exiled or that he lived with the hyenas.
Because it was supposed to be in the book a tale of 2 lion
@@Songlufia nope. Everything they mentioned came from A Tale of 2 Brothers.

U forget these are not his own actions but the effects of his poison or by ur reasoning kion could also be considered a villain 🤔
Yea actually that is hurtful of them to treat Scar like that.

I find it hilarious how we always turn to the older Disney animated villains as examples of unsympathetic evil because the movies portray them as such, but most (if not all) of them have a ton of unresolved emotional trauma that pushed them over the edge or were technically right to antagonize the good guys on some level.
Ew
Scar isnt entire evil lion king is like jungle emperor leo kimba the white lion mixed shake Spear hamlet
Up the great work!

Scar has always been my favorite Disney character.
This truly reminds me heavily of Loki. Both have horrible brothers that are loved by everyone solely for existing and are treated like they are lesser, also just by existing.
I mean, Mufasa seems like an amazing father, but he was still a dreadful brother figure.
Honestly, yeah. I see it, too.
Sadly, the only difference is that Scar is pure evil while Loki is not.
I can see the resemblance

NO
Sometimes we're not born into monsters sometimes we are made into them
Monsters are not made out of random. They are often made by the actions or inactions of those around them, the environment around them, or the lack of assistance from those they love or trust when going through a dark time.
Haven't thought about scar in decades but this was in depth to a level I wasn't ready for. Great video
Even though The Lion Guard's backstory for Scar is technically canon, I still prefer all the fan theories the TLK community has made! For example, Scar getting his scar from Ahadi, being named Taka, etc.
Same
I feel these theories don’t actually add anything.
He had a right to do what he did
No one is born evil. I repeat... No one is born evil. It's things like favouritism and constantly telling a child that they're useless.
Tell that to every single psychopath that's being raised by a perfectly NORMAL family and yet starts mutilating and killing animals and bullying other children at the age of 4 or so 😂
There is PLENTY of people born 'evil'.

When your given a bad hand in life. And you have had enough.
Every evil person has his back story and reasons. It doesn't matter. On a personal level one might sympathize and have compassion, because redemption might be possible. But evil is evil and calling 'evil' 'not so evil' is evil.
"Evil isn't born, Dearie! It's made!" Rumpelstiltskin

The only thing weirder than Kovu getting a vertical scar when he gets swiped horizontally, is Scar and Kion getting a slash scar from a snake bite, which should result in a puncture, not a cut or tear... you know, besides ignoring how ridiculous is that there's a snake with venom that instead of killing or at least making animals sick (so it could... you know ... eat ) that it just makes them angry and aggressive.
scar remembers me of Loki for some reason
As a kid thought it as black and white text book of evil , as an adult and hearing more about his back story I see him as a Cautionary tale of letting one's Arrogance get out of hand.
he thought he could do better than mufusa and he wanted to be king so bad he never realized how delicate their food chain was

I think that's a matter of opinion.
However, I will mention that of all the Disney villains, Scar is the only one who actually succeeded with his plan.

His reign did come to an end, of course, when Simba returned, but that's beside the point.
Everything about scar oozes Loki 😂

He was not named askari , askari is the spirt / dead lion that helps Kion giveaway his roar

Scar deserved to be respected. He just wanted to be loved.
Scar becoming a bad guy is a sad habit
Everyone is talking about The Lion Guard, but shouldn't someone talk about The Lion King Live Action?
Mufasa: "Is that a challenge?"
Scar: "I wouldn't want to fight my dear brother.....
I loved the stories in the ‘90’s
Everyone,
Scar was named Scar by Mufasa.
His name wasn’t Askari. That was the name of the first lion guard leader. This video has a bunch of misinfo and non canon sources.

You ought to check out the story of Hamlet, which Lion King is actually based off of
Honestly I am more sick of new stuff turning old heroes into villains and old villains into misunderstood characters. People go on and on about 80s villains being sad and lame, but I will take one of those guys any day of the week, because they where 99% of the time bad guys, knew they where bad guys, and loved being bad guys, no someone who do a bunch of messed up stuff because they didn't get enough hugs.

I liked the lion guard series, i gave it a chance. But still I cant make myself to see it as cannon, more like a spin off.
Mufasa didnt tried enough to reach out to his brother even moses and Ramses had more you know but moses couldnt not even for Ramses defy god
But thats only the disney version the real life Version were a bit diffrent
Non disney Moses i think Don bluth worked in that to like Joseph story
That was some rather fascinating information. Kind of makes me want to watch the lion guard series now.
I just noticed how similar Scar and Loki are. Jealousy of brothers must be the hot new trend
Ahadi is hundred Prozent like odin was to loki loki and scar so similiar
I deduct 50 villains points and award 30 pity points because I seriously pity the poor guy 😢😢😢
so moral of the story don’t take revenge and let yourself get thrown around
+ scar’s father is the reason why he has the scar
Thanks I'm not a fan of lion guard but prefer different takes i do like the Ascari name more than taka
This tells soo much history that I needed to know about scar I always wondered how he lost his powers thanks
GREAT DELUXE VIDEO ❤❤❤
I hope Scott can get his revenge one day
*Taka is Swahili for trash"
Scar's parents: I SHALL NAME HIM TAKA
English: I SHALL NAME HIM TRASH
Scar is a villain because of his own undoing
I don't think it was ever "what he did" that made him a villain inherently. But moreso his character in general. Staying in the shadows in retreat. Or disrespecting those weaker than him, even his own. Along with only flexing his muscle when he was sure he had the edge over his opposition. You can say he was evil or that maybe he was just smart/clever, but either way, those are still villainous attributes as opposed to heroic. A hero stands against odds in the face of a tyrant, a villain stalks behind the eye of a beloved king.
Yes, in my opinion, that definitely makes up for it insect. I admire him even more now.
I remember reading a book by Disney in the early 2000s that had the back ground.
It wasn’t called “how I became scar”, it was called “how I got my scar”
Lets not forget, that said poison in his bite wound was never treated, so it could be argued that his mind was slowly being poisoned and allowed evil and sinister thoughts into his head and Mufasa giving Scar his nickname instead of praise, thats where it started and led him down the path.
Tbh I'd like it If it was in the reverse with scar being the older brother and mufasa the younger brother.
This is why I love scar❤️❤️❤️
I dont realy like the lion guard take on scar its a bit too much magic weirdnes and tries to redeem him wich i realy dislike about disney just keep the vilains real vilains its Cool that scar is this vilain who plots and uses the hyenas to make up for his lack of strengt used his smartnes and cunning skills
It isn't trying to redeem him since he's still shown to be very evil like in the film.
yh me too, I hate the random element of "magic", feels out of place. I'd rather it have been mufasa was always favourited and scar left out and the backstory be centred around this idea rather than some random magic snake 😭
After i listen the song about when I lead a guard, I find it that it’s turn out that the scar right eye was injured by the snake and… I can’t remember the rest…
Almost every villain had bad child story…
"Don't turn your back on me Scar"
I always said that scar/taka was a misunderstood character in the lion king, he’s not really evil just broken on the inside. I feel bad because his father ahadi and brother mufasa hated him ever since he was born by saying it”I want nothing to do with him he’s useless” and mufasa picking on him. Lion king is a dark movie in my opinion. Nobody cared about him except for his mom uru. Scar deserves to be king over mufasa.
Mufasa tried in lion king 1 movie to be a bit better in lion guard he wasnt a nice brother to scar bit was already to late he Made scar bitter hate him and the pioson didnt help the case either way mufasa never even noticed the change After scars so called scar never asked his brother how he got it or asked what happend to your lion guard why do you have Lost tue Guardian mark roar of elders he simple let scar be eith his troubles not even sayed to him that scar is not his birthname tue most cruel part was mufasa continuied to Name call him After that mock nickname scar never using his real bane like scar is not worth it he wanted scar to be in Simba birth ceremony but did he show his brother any kindness or that he cared they both argued only i blame the father because i know the father Made one brother envy the other
Mufasa lokked betrayed by scar in his death Moment brother help me in the german dub but he shouldnt be surprised by this i mean mufasa never realized how scars hatred envy grow i epuldmt say greed for Power tue fact that scar wanted to be king is finally ne loved by the others like mufasa he couldnt get his fathers love and other lionesses or lions mocked him to that mufasa was better than him even sarabi and zazu told him that to face the only lion who actually liked scar was zira and her lionesses who were banished and sarafina she liked him to before she and nalas father got together while scar liked sarabi but she had only eyes for mufasa we get that from the live Action reboot were scar kinda talks the issue out we got more info for that
I think sarafina had a one sided love on scar same as he for sarabi than they were cubs hmm mheetu is still a diskussion if hes nalas father son or scars they still debate in the deleted Chara to this day
Scar looks older than Muffasa.
5:27 scar didn’t care about doing good he was just trying to brag
A true hero doesn’t care about credit
Mufasa was doing what siblings always do
Thank you.
take a shot every time he says "heartbreaking"
