As an extremely recent convert to sailing, on my 40' cruising yacht, I feel very connected to your in this video. I'm currently re-fitting my marine navigation and power systems in order to start circumnavigating Tasmania - the beautiful island that I'm fortunate enough to live on. What a great life - living on and loving our yachts;. :) Great coffee to all. :)
Nice. Just completed a BB to JB return its a good sail in right conditions. Bar at BB is a bit confusing, people go by the chart datum, but I use the bar LAT as that is what it is dredged to. I have measured the LAT for over two yrs it about 1.8-1.9 then add the tide of the moment to get total depth minus your keel depth to get clearance under the keel. Its never failed as a method. Local knowledge like that makes a difference but its hard to get in most ports of call. Best.
Thanks for the great video.
A lot of really useful information for me as I'm planning a trip around from Port Lincoln to Sydney.
