2024 Nissan Juke review

- The Nissan Juke is overlooked.
It's a very practical, tiny crossover SUV with a zesty turbo petrol engine, five models to choose from, and a clever interior with a boot that's way bigger than you probably expect.
It has one major issue though. I'll tell you all about it in this review -- include ways to get around this part of the drive experience that could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.

I have had the Juke Ti for just under four years now. I love it. I mainly use it for city type driving, but have driven on the Bruce Highway a fair few times as well. I still love it.
Hey Matt ,what is the ride like compared to Puma ST Vline?
So if you turn off stop/start and have it in sports mode with auto hold on. Does that make it a smooth ride then
Or is the Puma just better?
I found the seats in the Puma a bit small for back support!
Partner likea the C4. Imput would be greatly appreciated
Its between
Juke TI
Puma ST VLine
Citroen C4
Many thanks
Excellent review. Thank you. I own a Ford Puma (model 2023). But I like the interior of the Juke more. The Puma drives good. But I wait for the review on the Nissan Juke (upgrades model 2024, with the 142 Hp.Hybrid with a 4 cilinder 1600 CC). IMO it is more reliable, than 1 liter, 3 cilinder, 125 Hp than the Puma have.
No worries, glad you found it helpful. Sadly, as I’m in Australia, I won’t be able to cover the Juke hybrid as it’s not going to be sold here.
This is the next vehicle I am considering since my past purchases have been. Full size suv's....Rodeo, Xterra, CJ7jeep. Am currently looking😊
That’s quite a mix.
The Juke in that blue with those alloys does look the part.
I agree. Reckon it’s a bit of a stunner.
Great review Mat. Any thoughts on a review of the Suzuki S-Cross in Prestige form?? I'm seeing more and more on the roads these days.
Hi mate. S-Cross isn’t as new as it should be. They really did the bare minimum with the update and tried to label it all-new. It’s not.
I don’t think it’s a bad car. But wouldn’t spend my money on it. I’d go for a Vitara Turbo.
The S Cross is poor value in my view. A T-Roc City Life is better and much cheaper.
I rented a Nissan Juke during Xmas holiday with family in 2022 and it was a brilliant like runabout in Canberra. I had a the basic version but even so it was nice to drive and parking was a breeze (very important when on holiday).
United Kingdom have an e-power Juke which gives a bit more performance with hybrid fuel consumption. Already the normal consumption is reasonably low at 6.1L/100km which I recorded during the rental period. UK Nissan site shows signifcant savings again but at a few thousands dollars premium.
Matt, any chance the e-power is coming to Australia? Its an underrated little car.
Thanks for that - and yep, you’re bang on, the e-power would be a perfect Juke, getting rid of those drivetrain quirks once and for all!
Sadly they won’t be bringing it here, as far as I understand. It would be a perfect spec if they made the ST-L with e-power at $40k.
Qashqai e-power is on its way, though!
Isn't the rolling back or forward like driving a standard transmission? I've always driven standards Manuel transmissions and it comes. Natural to roll when idling.
It is like a manual but your brain doesn’t like that you don’t have a clutch to prevent it.
Could you do a review of the current VW T cross as I am looking to buy one. I know there is a new one but I would like to see how the current one holds up to the other small SUV’s.
I was planning to, but it got cancelled by VW.
It’s very good, still. I reviewed it for CarsGuide. Hopefully that will help?
Ok@@therightcar
It certainly stands out from the crowd design wise, not sure I ‘love‘ the shape, extraordinary value for money though. The interior, despite aged design, doesn’t look too bad at all and it appears very functional. More USB ports up front and rear would be nice. Are they USB C or A? I truly think car manufacturers (nowadays) should be providing USB-C. Not sure I’d want to let it run out to 20,00km between services, that’s a lot of k’s between oil;d changes, but depending on costs of service packs that might be the way to go. We’d never achieve that mileage on one in a year though. A great second car, but prejudiced though I am I’d likely choose the Skoda Kamiq 4 cylinder above the Juke. Great review with fair comments as always. Nissan generally make reliable cars, so that’s a positive for the Juke!
Thanks mate! Yep, I reckon a Kamiq makes a lot more sense for those in this market.
@therightcar Just took delivery of a brand new STL + last week, so far so good (Fuji Sunset Red wirh white and black interior) .....We do a mix of in town ans commuter diving (we live in Northern NSW), fuel is averaging 6.8 litres per 100 at present; boot space is excellent for a car of its size and honestly its a zippier car than what we thought it would be. If i had to give a couple of negitive comments at this stage; they'd be having to switch off the traffic sign recognition function at each start and at times the noise coming in to the vehicle can be a little intrusive at higher speeds; apart from that everything else seems good and well put together.....we did look at the MG ZS, Toyota Yarris Cross and the sibbling to the Juke (Quashqai) but the Juke won out having a larger boot and a great sense of styling both inside and out.......personally found the Nissan dealer much better to dral with than Toyota/MG too so that did help in the decision making if only a little bit.
Thanks for that feedback mate. Hopefully it remains a positive experience for you!
I think its important to mention that when driving a DCT, its not the same experience as a conventional auto trans, its way more intuative to throttle reponse, you must adapt your driving style when in a DCT
Which I clearly addressed here! 😁
What really wrote off the juke for me was that it has less power than puma and T cross yet uses significantly more fuel (by comparison). I'd go with the puma. I had one on order however went with kamiq regrettably due to wait times.
Wow really? Wait times for Puma? Well, there you go.
I would never I had one as a loan car and all it did was bunny hope 😂😂
We have a 2023 Nissan Juke Ti. Awesome value car. Jam packed full of features for the price tag.
Great! You don’t find the drive experience annoying?
@@therightcar yeah the dual clutch sucks. It's very 'jolty' but you get used to it.
@stevepirrottina927 we were told we'd either like the dual clutch or wouldn't even make it out of the yard on our test drive, no issues, and ended up with a 2023 STL +
@@reneeandmitchhardman6326yeah we came from a Qashqai with a CVT. Very different transmissions.
@@reneeandmitchhardman6326 What's the different between the STL+ and TI? Did you compare both?
You forgot the Yaris Cross that has a hybrid option for the same price and of course, the Toyota tax that guarantees a higher resale price down the track.
The little engine turned us off this car. We have an old Nissan Micra that has a 1.4 litre 4 cylinder engine. It’s been a reliable engine over 220k kms. No issues with the engine at all. I’m not sure if a little 1 litre turbo would last as long. Thirty odd thousand dollars is a lot of money to ask for a little car with such a small engine.
It’s not unusual for a brand to ask that much for a tiny turbo. But longevity? I hear you.
Or is the Hybrid HRV worth the extra money
How about T-cross?
It’s great!
You pointed out one of the worst features I despise on new cars today and that's the rear door handles designed into the C pillar! This is not a practical feature at all and looks gimmicky at best. The Toyota CH-R is the worst! I'm definitely a fan of traditional rear door handles and I'm glad Suzuki have gone back to them for the new generation Swift!
I like the Juke! The current' generation is a big improvement over the first, which I have driven a few times, but the current generation is a lot better! For some reason I though it had the same engine and trans set up as the Renault Captur, but it's actually not! The Captur is a 4cyl 1.3L turbo. That engine and trans in the Captur and Arkana is actually not a bad thing, especially around town and sounds like it's a lot better than the what the Juke has been lumbered with, but at least it's not a CVT!! I know people swear about them, but I just can't bring myself to drive a car with a CVT. Not yet anyway!
For me though, I'd pick the Skoda Kamiq, not being biased what so ever! Haha! In fact, I'm working on the better half to either upgrade the 2 year old Polo Comfortline to a facelifted Volkswagen T-Cross or the facelifted Skoda Kamiq at the end of 2024 or early 2025.
Thanks mate. I thought we’d be past silly door handles by now. 😛
Yeah, they’re different powertrains but it’s still a Renault engine.
Nice! Kamiq or T-Cross are great choices!
Good idea about sports mode, but if you buy one of the bottom two models it's not available. I drove one today and the transmission was awful. Clunky and no power. For both features and performance, it felt like a ten year old car that was never serviced. I'd suggest that the ST and ST+ actually represent poor value.
I remember a few facelifts ago when this car was being compared with Suzuki Vitara and that car beat this in just about every practical aspect. Now Nissan has bulked it up to get over that and it seems that hasnt made much of a difference, the car is just as impractical and underpowered when compared with the Vitara(hope you can get to review it one day).
If I was making a choice in this price range id take a Jolion, reason being for the money youre getting a bigger car with a bigger boot and more features and power per dollar spent than the Juke. I would have chosen the Vitara but its just gotten so expensive.
Yeah Vitara has crept to an unsustainable price in my opinion. Suzuki used to stand for affordable cars.
@@therightcar @therightcar yeah, it seems to be the Hungary sourced models such as the Vitara and S Cross that have this issue. But to compound this issue Aussies will turn their noses up at the Indian models such as the XL6, Ciaz, Dzire, Brezza and Baleno(that ADR 85/00 restriction doesnt make sense as it gets curtain airbags and side impact door beams, plus the Fronx is coming which is the same platform so🤔). The hybrids are coming which will exacerbate this issue.
@@mindfreeze08382 SUVs coming from Suzuki , but then again some people be like "its from India hell no"
@@Mr.Monark so does JLR but people still buy Chelsea Tractors dont they?
Mrs in the market for a car like this. The Juke looks very good for her... except those servicing costs. When Toyota and Honda are charging what they are, i don't know how Nissan thinks they can get away with charging that. Makes the car a non starter.
It’s a difficult justification if you plan to maintain with Nissan, that’s for sure.
I had a rental Kamiq for 2 months. 2 1720 klm round trip to the coal fields. Comfortable highway travelling. Nice interior. Very economical and superb handling.Dangerous transmission!! Forget about gunning off the line like a normal auto to merge into traffic. Cruise was awful. Apple car play dropped out intermittently. Horrible stop start.
I would not trust the longevity of the engine and transmission being a direct injection unit and a dodgy Volkswagen product
Wow that took a dramatic turn
The new hybrid mg3 will eat this for breakfast
Can’t wait to drive it!
All of the alternatives have less than a stellar reputation for reliability....Come to think of it, so does Nissan. I suppose if you are easily satisfied with looks and tech and fun drive over practical things like long term ownership, then fill your boots with the suggestions.
Helo can you recommend me some family car under 30k one small kid? i was thinking about proceed / qashqai / karoq / taigo something like that. What do you think?:)

That comment would have applied about 15y ago before they absorbed by Renault as a result Nissan's legendary reliability took a massive hit
@@robertceroli3512why?
Renault and Nissan both have issues not a combination I'd consider.
Yeah; the reliability factor could be a consideration.
Renault Nissan and Mitsubishi
Dual clutch is not for me, so this one is a big no from me.
Nissan with Renault mechanical and a dsg sounds like a recipe for massive drama's long term
Who knows…!
Had one as a rental for 2 weeks. The dual clutch transmission is easily the worst I have experienced. Comically bad. Really harsh suspension, even on the fattest tyres (ST). Couldn’t live with that car. The rental company guy told me they always received complaints when nissan jukes were returned. Rented an MG HS recently. It certainly has its flaws but much better DCT and more comfortable suspension.
Nothing beats a rental test😅.
I'm currently driving one (ST-L) as my car is being replaced.
The DCT in the Juke must be the worst transmission on the market. It's almost impossible to get off the mark cleanly without it pushing you hard and it always feels like there is a rubber band pulling you back. Ride is also crap. Awful car.
It's saving grace are the front seats, which are excellent.
It's a dreadful, undercooked vehicle
Calm down, Alf.
@@therightcar oy! You need time in me dungeon again?
I have no idea why they squish cars like this. Looks ugly and wrecks visibility and cargo space.
Because SUV
Nissan junk would be a better name.
Harsh.
Or joke
Make it an EV!
The next-gen model will be.
This is 2023 model not interested bye
We won't get the updated til later this year, making it a "2025" for us. I did this as a 2024, because it is the Australia 2024 spec.
nissan engine is shit
Um if it was a Nissan it probably be OK but it's a Renault eng so its like Russian roulette
Anything is better than a peasant’s china car.
Whoa.
Havel and MG out sell Nissan slash Renault by a significant margin and they don't seem to suffer the issues associated with Nissan/Renault
