- FACEMI India, founded by Dr. Nirmala Srinivasan presents its webinar “Spirituality and Mental Health” by Prof. R Srinivasa Murthy.
We all have our challenges on a day to basis & are of varying degrees and therefore one is always on the look for how to handle such life situations. And the question therefore put forth to us. Can spirituality help in this journey. The intersection of spirituality and mental health may resonate with many of us. But we are in an era where mental well-being is increasingly recognized as crucial to overall health and therefore it is important to understand the role of spirituality and how it can play an important part in our mental well-being.
Our speaker today is Prof R Srinivasa Murthy who studied medicine at CMC, Vellore. (1964-1972). He completed postgraduate training in psychiatry and worked at the Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. (1972-1981)
He was a faculty member at NIMHANS, Bangalore, from 1982-2003 and retired as Professor of Psychiatry.
He worked with WHO as a staff member from 2000-2001 and 2004 -2007.
He is currently working on developing and disseminating ‘self-care skills for Emotional Health’ for persons living with cancer, their caregivers and caregivers of ‘Developmental Disabilities’.
