I tried, I tried, I tried Scrivener. It was the opposite of Minimalist. So glad to throw it out. Do what works.

So my new part time job is going really great! I work in the floral department at an unusual place that’s like a greenhouse/grocery store. One of the floral designers is teaching me how to make flower arrangements. I have finally experienced what it’s like to to stop overthinking and just let the creativity flow. Now I gotta apply that to writing. So glad to be working a job that is filling my cup. Could it be that my long time nemesis Time is now my best friend? Cause Time pushed me to just jump in and do it and the arrangements I did turned out beautiful. That’s with no prior experience too. I was notorious for over analyzing things but now a ton of weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

This was amazing. I think I had an important realization every five minutes where I gained new insights into what wasn't working about my own process, not just for creative writing, but many things in general. Thanks for putting this out there, it really helped me a lot and gave me a new perspective on things I had struggled to see before.

I've always wanted to have the most minimalist writing process, and this helps a lot! Thank you so much Abbie and Kate!
P.S: Planning to buy The Blood Race (Book 1) soon! Can't wait to read it! The preview is AWESOME.

Another gem of a video. Thank you. Juggling multiple books has ups and downs. I’m trying to prioritize, but have fallen to overthinking... I think. It’s a balance. Structural spontaneity sounds like my next phase. Recognizing procrastination will be on high alert.
    Thanks again.

A few soundtracks in particular that help me while I write or before I write are the first two Harry Potter film soundtracks, any of the SCREAM soundtracks (scores only), any of the Strangers Things soundtracks (scores only) and the couple of Bates Motel television show soundtracks.

Such a great episode! As much as I try to be a planner, I definitely turn into procrastinated and I feel so called out in this episode but in a good way. Definitely time to try this method!

Great tips! I love the idea that minimalism in your writing process can look different from writer to writer; it's just so true!

Was finally able to sit down and watch this podcast after watching one of Abbie's videos where she says where to find it. I have subscribed instantly. I'm just getting back into writing and have many ideas for characters and plot lines going around my head, but I definately have to write things down with pen and paper. I find there are now too many distractions online and then I'm tempted to wander and do something else instead of writing things down. Funny you should say about notebooks as this is what I saw Sara Cannon do, and she also uses index cards.

OMG. This should’ve been titled “The Most Maximalist Way to Discuss the Minimalist Method for Writing a Novel” and subtitled “The Substance-Free Approach to Podcasting” with the disclaimer “We don’t actually discuss minimalist writing, but we do get bonus points for every use of the words yeah, like, and process; and double bonus points every time we repeat what we just said.”
