Here is what happened: The cooling system to cool down the servers and computers below the cockpit is very mandatory to prevent them overheating and causing disastrous things to occur. The cooling system failed mid-flight. Which could cause the servers and computers to overheat and cause many cockpit functions to fail. The flight needed to land ASAP before they overheat and fail. It's as high priority to land as the engine exploding mid-flight (which almost never happens). Because you are over the ocean and there are no close airports. The crew were thinking of a water landing. So that's why you put on the life vest. Eventually they found a military base airport to land at and that's why you landed there. Hope this helped to tell you what happened.

I'm also someone who, in crisis situations where other people were freaking out, turns calm. I know this from experience. Seriously, not all people freak out in the moment. I become calm and take control during the situation, and the emotions come later, when the situation is entirely finished.

Not all emergency landings are that serious. An emergency landing can be because a passenger is ill or freaking out or they have not a lot of fuel left and stating a fuel emergency gives them priority to land. Therre is prob more suttle cases but I tired so i cant name them all :D.

The flight above ocean is scary. I had flew from Hong Kong to LA in Cathay and the flight duration is so big and lengthy like it's eternal and there's a lot of wind above ocean as well. I salute you for staying strong.

30,000 feet, barely any air. Also, you'd be ripped out the plane. And the aerodynamic forces make sure the door stays closed. Even if you did open the door, then it's a matter of not hitting the plane.
no ones prob gonna see this but if u have (flight/) anxiety writing your name backwards helps calm it and distract yourself from your surroundings. also chewing gum or having something in your hands helps :))

Ellie Brigs turbulence are not a bad thing just an inconvenience so just remember that its completely normally, even the plane dropping a bit from that is also normal. Its just inconvenient for the flyers as they just want to relax. I read this before somewhere and it made me feel much better

jo fjo Liferafts arent really that much use to be honest. Its very difficult to land on the ocean without a wing clipping the sea at high speed or the nose digging in. Chance are the plane will cartwheel or break apart and you will be throw around like a rag doll.

My father experienced two emergency landings and he is still gladly flying. These episodes are rare and for the vast majority of times manageable. Pilots and flight attendants are extremely well prepared, but prevention is key.
All airline's responsibility should be to make sure the flight is safe. But not every airline could do it well when it comes to panic situations, in this case I think Cathay did a pretty good job, not to mention they also offer usd300 for each passenger as a remedy for their inconvinience as well as explaining in detail what happened and why they had to take this precaution procedure.

Not all emergency landings are that serious. An emergency landing can be because a passenger is ill or freaking out or they have not a lot of fuel left and stating a fuel emergency gives them priority to land. Therre is prob more suttle cases but I tired so i cant name them all :D.

The flight above ocean is scary. I had flew from Hong Kong to LA in Cathay and the flight duration is so big and lengthy like it's eternal and there's a lot of wind above ocean as well. I salute you for staying strong.

no ones prob gonna see this but if u have (flight/) anxiety writing your name backwards helps calm it and distract yourself from your surroundings. also chewing gum or having something in your hands helps :))

Ellie Brigs turbulence are not a bad thing just an inconvenience so just remember that its completely normally, even the plane dropping a bit from that is also normal. Its just inconvenient for the flyers as they just want to relax. I read this before somewhere and it made me feel much better

+One City At A Time flying isn't what it used to be. When we were kids they let us visit the cockpit and talk to the pilots, but after 9-11 they took that away. Next went the life vests.

jo fjo Liferafts arent really that much use to be honest. Its very difficult to land on the ocean without a wing clipping the sea at high speed or the nose digging in. Chance are the plane will cartwheel or break apart and you will be throw around like a rag doll.

My father experienced two emergency landings and he is still gladly flying. These episodes are rare and for the vast majority of times manageable. Pilots and flight attendants are extremely well prepared, but prevention is key.

All airline's responsibility should be to make sure the flight is safe. But not every airline could do it well when it comes to panic situations, in this case I think Cathay did a pretty good job, not to mention they also offer usd300 for each passenger as a remedy for their inconvinience as well as explaining in detail what happened and why they had to take this precaution procedure.
