My grandmother in law taught me this receipt in 1974 and I have made it ever since the whole family loves it. Thanks 🙏 for sharing with the world 😊

Being a Texan I can say that this is the most accurate recipe I have seen on TH-cam. Yes, cinnamon is definitely a must in the traditional recipe.

Mom found a recipe like this around 40 years ago; this had to be her favorite cake - it was the frosting, she’d stick her finger in all four corners and claim them. A delicious scoop or two of ice cream on the side, she would eat it slowly so she could savor the flavor!
Moms been gone since 2007; I still make this cake and can see her waiting for cake to come out 🤭
You brought back beautiful memories of cooking/baking with my Mom - ok, I’m officially hungry, and it’s 2:45 am☺️ but it’s chocolate for medical purposes 😉😉

My Mom used to make this cake when I was a kid and after I made it oh my the memories came flooding back for me. You see I lost my Mom March 21, 2022 so a big thank you for helping me remember the great memories

Payton, the only habit I would get into if I were you, would be to crack your eyes in a cup individually before adding them to dry or wet ingredients. As it is impossible to remove a spoiled egg out your batter. It takes one time to w aste your good ingredients behind a bad egg, to quickly never make that mistake again. Trust us older cooks, we all already learned the hard way.😥🤗🌻🦋

I grew up in San Antonio, TX making Texas Sheet Cake. You did a great job. The major difference to our version was in the use of cinnamon. We don’t put it in the cake but instead we add it in the icing. If you want to make a Mexican Hot Chocolate icing, add a pinch of Cheyenne pepper to it.

Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe. I look forward to making it soon. One minor suggestion is that you use the burner on your stovetop that most closely matches the size of your pan. In other words, you don't want a burner that's a few inches larger than the pan. The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy found that putting a 6-inch pan on an 8-inch burner, for example, wastes over 40% of the heat created by the burner. It can be somewhat dangerous to have a super-hot burner with nothing protecting the cook from the edges of it. Another cooking tip that can save you money: If you keep a lid on your pans while cooking, you can set a lower temperature on your stove, and can decrease your energy use by up to 66%.

I remember making this cake back in the early 80's, but lost it years ago. I've seen other recipes for it but it was always a little different from the original, one added sour cream, and another without the cinnamon, so they never tasted right. Thank you for sharing the recipe, I'm going to make it for my 26 yr old grandson, who's never even heard of it

Payton I loved the video. I might just make this for my grandchildren whenever we are safe to gather together again. Have you filmed any of your Pasta dishes? Do you have the attachment (Pasta) for your mixer? Thanks again. Please, never leave New Orleans except to visit your family in Texas. Peace. I love waking up to you (Weather Show I mean)!

NOT CRISCO that stuff is terrible for your health. Choose butter!
