Thank you so so much for sharing this recipe. I made it the other day and my family and I LOVED it! This is definitely going to be made again and again.
Thank you so much! So glad your family loved it. It is something we always look forward too at family gatherings! I hope you watch more of my videos and subscribe.
I have made this for my Church get together in the early 70's, it is what I do and what I take! We never used real butter we used "oleo". My recipe used 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon and The cheap margarine "blue bonnet". we were poor and this was a poor mans dessert that would feed a crowd. Making it again this year, love it with pecans. Good job at least it is as close to the original as I have seen. Yep got to love your mom for making this. You can't beat perfection! I always lined my pan with aluminum foil and buttered, less of a mess! Merry Christmas, thanks for sharing!
@@KathyCooks321 I do not know that I have seen it for years, we went Butter and Blue Bunny margarine!. Do try the cinnamon it makes a great flavor. It is my go to choice. Merry Christmas!
Ive made this cake 5 tines since April. Now Im baking another one today. I gave them 2 choices of what I should make & Texas sheet cake wins e/time. TY for the video
Great question. Yes it is unsweetened cocoa powder. Having grown up in the kitchen I sometimes assume things I should not. I will put that in the recipe! Thanks
@@KathyCooks321 My mom adds a small amount, so it doesn't taste like cinnamon. It's just a little something that you can't quite figure out (unless you know), but tastes so good.
Is this cake too much batter for a regular cookie sheet? Most recipes call for 2 cups of flour & sugar rather than 3 cups. I don't want the cake to run over the pan.
Hi Kathy, on the Texas sheet cake, what size is the sheet pan and, do you let the liquid mixture be at a virtual boil when incorporating into the dry mixture or do you let it somewhat cool first? Thank you!

Thank you so much! I can't wait to tell my mom that your family loves it as much as we do.
The church cookbooks from years ago, are the best
yes they are! I have learned that using 4 0z melting bittersweet chocolate to the batter adds a big punch of flavor!
This cake is most delicious I have also been eating this cake for like 40 years my mother made this cake often.
That's great. We love it too!!
This might be a stupid question but, I’m not a good cook… Do you use unsweetened cocoa powder or watt?
Great question. Yes it is unsweetened cocoa powder. Having grown up in the kitchen I sometimes assume things I should not. I will put that in the recipe! Thanks

Is the butter salted or unsalted? Making this soon, thank you for sharing.
Baking usually is unsalted butter. But I use whatever I have.
@@KathyCooks321 Thank you
Do you add the chocolatemix When it's still Hot & boiling??
yes!
I think my mom put cinnamon in it also. It adds a little something.
Sounds yummy. My mom loves cinnamon too. I’ll tell her to try it next time she makes it.

mine is 12x17,
What size of your cookie sheet you are using?
Hd
What kind of flour are you using? Can you use cake flour?
all purpose. thanks for watching!!
What is that little Stir Stick called that you are mixing the butter and cocoa?
That is an egg whisk. I love it. I do not use a regular whisk anymore,
What Is three sticks of butter In grams/ ounces? Valerie.
113 grams, 4 ounces. Hope you enjoy!!
Can this be made in a 9x13 pan?
No. It’s too much batter. If you try you will need to cook it longer. Let me know how it turns out
Is that a 1/4 sheet pan?
It is a normal size jelly roll pan. Aprox 18 x 12
Cake is better -use a 9x13 pan - deeper Great. TU for recipe.
Thanks for the tip!
You said teaspoons for cocoa powder...your recipe says tablespoons. Which is it?
Tablespoons! I will make a note in the description of my error.
What size Pan?
thanks
instead of water use hot strong coffee to bloom the cocoa
Great idea!
My recipe calls for Crisco and not butter, I wonder if this was a depression recipe. I used Crisco and it was fabulous.
I’ll give it a try
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon is a secret ingredient...same as with chili , doesnt give a cinnamon taste either.
Then we can call it mexican chocolate sheet cake! I will try next time. Thanks
Lose the music. I need to hear you.
