Europe is a swedish band, singer is Joey Tempest and on guitar was John Norum. John also had a solo career with some great songs like Love is meant to last forever and Let me love you. This music is such nostalgia to me, growing up I heard it everywhere since I am a swede myself 😀
Pictures from Stockholm in the beginning of the video! Europe played The Final Countdown on a scen floating on water in Stockholm city on New years eve 1999. Millenniumshift!! It was sensational, you never forget it.
The guitar player is John Norum. The yellow guitar pictured in some other videos is the guitar Tommy Johansson bought and used in his Europe covers videos. th-cam.com/video/l5zFB-CA1zI/w-d-xo.html
Europe is a Swedish rock band formed in Upplands Väsby in 1979, by lead vocalist Joey Tempest, guitarist John Norum, bassist Peter Olsson, and drummer Tony Reno.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe_(band)
Europe sold millions of albums, Joey Tempest (singer) said in a live interview that he was still in school and borrowed a keyboard from a buddy and was only 16/17 years old when he came up with the keyboard riff, he didn't even think it was going become a massive hit till today. In this video he was in his 20's. They have many great songs like *Carrie*, *Open your Heart*, *Cherokee*, *Superstitious*, I personally also love Europe's self-titled debut album 1983, love the older songs, especially one of my favourite *Seven Doors Hotel* He now lives in the UK with his wife and kids and still tours. Thank you Steven ☺❤you are awesome 👍always good vibes, love from Canada 🍁
""The Final Countdown" is a song by Swedish rock band Europe, released in 1986. Written by lead singer Joey Tempest, it was based on a keyboard riff he made in the early 1980s, with lyrics inspired by David Bowie's "Space Oddity" "Joey Tempest was just 17 years old when he wrote Europe’s biggest hit, The Final Countdown"
Only two hits, but if that's all you get it might as well be cool like this one. I can't believe they didn't get more love. This song is great for the Fourth of July "fireworks finale".🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
What's funny about this song is that it actually resonated on an emotional level at the time. Now it just seems like a catchy tune. The Cold War was in full swing. Countdowns and nukes. We ate this stuff up!
Have to listen to Europe’s first albums and the last and more recent ones like War of Kings. Scream Of Anger, In the Future to Come, Seven Doors Hotel, On Broken Winga are a must listen songs.
For some reason, this song always makes me think of the cult Heaven's Gate that committed suicide in 1997 believing if they left their "humanly bodies" alien beings would take them. It was during the visit of the commit Hale-Bopp.
This song puts me in a panic! Lol! One of my coworkers used to use this as her alarm. If you were around to hear it for the third time, you’d better be sprinting for the time clock!
Let's Gooo! Played at every live Hockey arena. This was our song before baseball games..got us pumped 😅 Please check out Trooper Here for a good time. Great reaction and Peace out Steven ☮️ ✌️
Europe come from Sweden. They are a great live band too i’ve seen them many times in Scotland. The final countdown is my fave though. It reminds me of the 80’s when music was the best of the best esp A-HA from Norway my fave band for 40 years now. The final countdown is usually played at new year when your counting down to the new year like 2024 into 2025. Take care 😘🏴
Steve not a reaction request... but you should listen to Lovebites Scream for Me live Daughters of the Dawn. This song has amazing guitar battles and some great drumming that you'd enjoy.
dude as much as I love this song I don't think it was mixed right. They needed to bring the guitar in a little louder and more aggressive to support the singer. The singer and guitarist are killer but so are the rest of the band, the have to be just to keep up.
Not necessarily makes sense.... the the 1970s there was a band called Aaia and they weren't from Asia, and the Doobie Brothers were brothers, nor were the Righteous Brothers.

A lot of hits and still together today.
Carrie
Cherokee
Rock the Night
Superstition
too many to name
He's a Dreamer (dunno if that's the title)

As a left-handed drummer since 1964, huge props to Ian Haugland. Especially for singing backing vocals as well.
Cherokee was always one of my favorites from them.
I had forgotten just how pretty this band was…..as well as how good they were. John Norum, Joey Tempest, wow..
They have many good ones. "Rock the Night" next.
They have a lot of songs that were never played on the radio, but are still really good.
An excellent 80s band for sure!🤘🤘👍👍
ALOT OF HAIR SPRAY AND MOUNTIANS OF COCAINE LOL all in fun
Superstitious is one of Europe’s best tunes. The guitar solo is an all-timer!
I agree!
Absolutely love this Song and Band. Love Joey Tempest's voice.
Here in England at New Year's Eve parties we play this at about 4 minutes to midnight, quintessential last tune of the year
Fun fact for a Swede like me. I guess then after midinght you might play Happy new year, by ABBA to complete the all Swedish party night 😂...
The guitar player is John Norum.
The yellow guitar pictured in some other videos is the guitar Tommy Johansson bought and used in his Europe covers videos.

Every time this song came on the car radio we would almost blow the speakers and windows out!! 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤😂😂😂
It was definitely always turned up to 11! as loud and fast as you could go. Such energy in that one.

Power Ballad - Carrie.
Cherokee-You will love the drums!
Rock The Night also. They have quite a few good songs!
So good! Total 🔥
Killer bass line. Lead vocals amazing… so 80’s with the rock n roll hair, makeup 💄
A banger my man
They are still going strong and touring.

This was called glam rock back in the day, everyone hated it. But liked the lead back in the 80's.
‘Time Has Come’…’Cherokee’…’Ninja’ from the same album. ‘Walk The Earth’ is a newer-ish song. Check out its video. Let’s go on a Europe expedition!
One of my favorite all time bangers!
Thanks!
Thanks so much! You’re awesome! ❤️
The cutest front man/singer ever with the greatest voice.
Only two hits, but if that's all you get it might as well be cool like this one.

lead singer joey wrote compose this song when he was 16...
They were a very underrated 80's hair metal band they were kind of radio safe but I still like them the lead singer's voice Joey tempest incredible
Did they snort alot of cocaine in Euorpe as well in the USA just wondering
Couple others to check out by them young man are Rock the Night Carrie which is a ballad
They played it a lot of sporting events stadiums
Bruce Dickinson produced this band. The singer from Iron Maiden!
Have to listen to Europe’s first albums and the last and more recent ones like War of Kings. Scream Of Anger, In the Future to Come, Seven Doors Hotel, On Broken Winga are a must listen songs.
Guitar: John Norum Vocals: Joakim Larsson or stage name Joey Tempest

The reactor is reacting on his hairband days when he was the frontman of Europe.
Pudelrock at it's best ;)

They're from Sweden
If you like this song then you should check out Also Nova's song Fantasy! 😎
I have ALWAYS loved the intro to this song.
Should check out Teenage Wasteland by The Who. ❤❤
In my opinion, the guitar equivalent of this synth riff is the lead riff in Survivor - Eye of the Tiger. Cheers..
steven- your not doing enough country/folk- try this one- " I Just Come Here For The Music"- Don Williams
They’re no KISS, but they are pretty good Steve 😉
😂🤣

I have heard this song so many times i hateIT same as living on a prayer
Fair enough! 😂

Rolling Stone magazine rated this one of the worst songs from the 80's! That just shows you how ignorant they are about quality music!
This song in on several major music magazines list of worst songs. Agreed.
