    In that moment, he showed the world, on live television how arrogant and egotistical he really is. He attacked someone, he should have gone to jail, IMO. I don't think this is the first time he's done something like this, or treated people like crap...it's the first time we all saw it.

    "Fogged out" was he fogged out when he was partying at the after party? He didn't realize the significant backlash he would receive. 3 months later and now he's sorry. I call BS! This is a PR thing. He has numerous projects on hold due to his behavior.

    The worst part of this apology video is that Will Smith looks like he is a hostage.
    I don’t blame Chris Rock for not meeting with him. My gut feeling is that Rock is moving on - without Will.

    Will Smiths tone sounds like Jada, not himself. To me this apology wasn’t really an apology, it’s just bizarre to me. If he were truly sorry it wouldn’t have taken him so long to apologize! He’s also reading a script.

    He should never have mentioned his wife in this apology, very disappointed when I heard that. OMG I agree with you so much about all this depth put into his response. Jada is the same...she can't speak without using this "depth"...big turn off.

  • @deborahgilliland1804
    @deborahgilliland1804 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Jada saw him laughing at Chris' joke about her and rolled her eyes. Will saw her and only then decides to act insulted and pissed off. Had he not seen her eye roll he would've kept laughing at the jokes and done nothing. He just brought more attention to her which is probably what she wanted too.

    Man, he just needs to stop. He needs to go back where he was gaining that insight and get a refund. His narcissistic b.s. could be have been removed with a shovel. He wants back into Hollywood. He thinks he's suffered enough. What he did was inexcusable. He thought he was above it all. He really believes he deserves, actually DESERVES to be back in the Hollywood spotlight. I don't buy one word of this. I'm sorry but there's nothing wrong with a little shame now and then

    It really bothers me to see that the culture in America is very much about waiting to see how others react to a situation, especially in the case of celebrities and the wealthy and powerful, before they actually follow their own instant reactions and what would be done if it was just some Joe Blow, who did the same thing. Joe Blow would have instantly been grabbed by security and taken out of the theatre if he had walked up on stage and assaulted the host. But, Will Smith, a celebrity actor (wow), gets a standing ovation!!!! WTF America. It is not acceptable on ANY level. It's like the people themselves have created different, or no, rules or laws or common decency, for any of the elite. That situation should have been handled immediately, by protocol, a no brainer and he should not have been able to go back on stage and accept the award (they could have just state that he won the award and that he wasn't able to accept it at this time : ) )....because he should NOT have been in the theatre by that time. Some times there is no black and white, but in this case there was NO DOUBT that what he did was outrageously wrong and a CRIME, period!

    I think he should just let it go at this point, he made a really poor move and slapped Chris Rock. I don't think anyone would just say "yeah I forgive" just cus they apologised, considering Will hit him during the Oscars and millions of people watching it, it was just a big stage. I think he should just keep the issue private to his household, what's interesting is how Chris Rock would perceive this apology, I assume he'll probably see it.

    Update and now we have to once again wait for Will Smith to come out again with another explanation video. I saw hi: on instagram doing other videos but I wonder how he is going to do the answer for this issue currently. What are you alls thoughts? How long before his new response?

  • @kaminobatto
    @kaminobatto 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Those are exactly my thoughts. He's been one of my favorite public figures for almost 3 decades, and that incident made him fall from grace in a heartbeat! It showed me a dark side that I did not like. I too have a shitty dark side that I am not proud of, however, a red line that I NEVER cross is disrespecting others willingly without apologizing. My temper gets the best out of me at times and when I snap I am very nasty, but all it takes is a comment or a look to ground me back right away and apologize immediately. Every one such altercation was a harsh lesson and I never lost my temper twice with the same person because I'm very mindful if I have previously conducted myself poorly with them. This constant awareness helps me become less susceptible to an amygdala hijacks in the heat of the moment. My problem with Will is that he just did it with Chris because he did not think there would be any consequences as Chris is not an A-list actor, so he's below in social rank of some sorts. This was not just obvious from the slap but from the ongoing waterfall of insults and terrible poor attitude that continued even as Will left the stage and got back on his chair. I felt so upset and in denial; he was just showing Chris his sizes, trying to intimidate him, and establishing his authority and social status over him. What a piss poor show that was!!! On the other hand, I am sure if another A-list actor or someone like Ricky Gervais made that same joke in the same instance, Will would have thought twice before moving out of his chair and wouldn't have ended up smacking anyone! That's one thing I cannot let go or forgive; to cross a red line because you feel so much power that you can get away without any consequences! Unless I know that Chris voluntarily and wholeheartedly forgives him for what he did, I don't believe I ever can. I just can't stand bullying and humiliating others! If I ever see Chris in real life, I would walk up to him and salute him for being the bigger man! His self-restraint, even if out of shock, is what allowed the event to continue that night despite all the awkwardness that Will created with his behavior.

    @l.w.tomaso6277 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Anxiety can make you look like an ass too. I have had anxiety that created avoidance, not that I didn't care about something, I was just trying to avoid how anxious and uncomfortable something made me. Just a different take. Nothing about slapping someone is cool or acceptable, I am just trying to see a different view. I would love to party in the after party rather than accept something I did, AT FIRST, then after the reality hits once that ability to avoid the issue has faded. People who have anxiety can overthink. Again, not saying or talking for him or his ego, but sometimes it can create that "deep" needed thought.

    1:23 ...I think people over think and, consequently, overrate his eloquence. However, remember that his rhymes were...a bit childish:
    "Illway the an-may on the ance-day oor-flay,

    ....that first line...yep, that's pig latin for "Will be the Man on Dance Floor" ....🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    When you talk about shame and your subject is a Black American person you need to keep in mind that there is generational shame for Black people in America passed down through the centuries after slavery that has never been talked about or worked on. I am Black, a Boomer, from a bougie Black family and I have carried shame in my life of being less than the white people in this country. We are constantly reminded we are less than, not desirable, criminal element, not attractive etc. Will, no matter how intelligent he is has shared in carrying some of this, it's rare to find those who don't carry it. It is still a thing I have to remind myself of from time to time, not to let the shame from racism I've experienced color what i think of myself. Not to feel that I'm am inherently bad or wrong just because I exist and if you come from a family with abuse of any sort this just gets compounded.

    He is just mimicking how his wife talks. Like she tutored him about what to say. Will isnt a narcissist, his wife is. He definitely has narcissistic traits, but he's nowhere near what she is. He's blind to alot. When I see this I think of a mixture of his real empathy, and her manipulation

    • @l.w.tomaso6277
      @l.w.tomaso6277 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes, i couldnt put my thoughts into words so thank you. this is spot on to what I felt too. People dont understand how much a narcissist can control, even turn you into one of them, make you do things you never would do. Narcissists use the mind to control, not their strength, intimidation, status... strip all that away and they can still control you. I think Will knew what she is, but he is lost and too deep now. She blinks and he jumps.

    I suppose that Will Smith felt that he was in the right when he marched on that stage and slapped Chris Rock across the face. I can imagine how confused Will had to be when he saw people taking Chris's side. But if Smith only spoke up in defence of his wife and told her sob story right there and then, without the slap part, it would all turn the other way around and we would now be talking about empathy and the boundaries around joking. So, both of them had it coming...
    Just as violence is unacceptable, we also need to acknowledge that public joking and comedy have gone a little out of control lately (even though everyone thought it was soft joke... Which proves my point) Still, humor is important and part of our humanity and we probably wouldn't survive without it, we just need to inject empathy in there

    Im still shocked that everybody care this much over him slapping Chris rock over a disrespectful joke about Jada. It just doesn’t matter overall to be honest. And for Will to do something violent for the first time, he shouldn’t get punished as if he shot chris. For him to bring up Chris then maybe they did have past beef but again I wouldn’t of apologized. You did what you did no changing it now.
